Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Yeah, I'm kind of contemplating whether I want to read it or not. Spoilers don't really bother me all that much (side effect of reading all about GT online back when the Android stuff was still on Toonami), but at the same time I dunno how interested I am in this. Kaboom's fic kind of sets a high bar for DB fanfiction in my mind now, so a translated one...
Still, it's cool that they are finally translating it.

Vegetto?
Also, I love the second panel. Cooler = Batman.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I'm guessing Vegetto to, based off of the glove. Seeing Cooler be all sneaky only to get socked in the last panel is (probably unintentionally) hilarious though.

Way to pull your punches Vegetto(?).
Cooler got lucky he didn't get his face punched right off his head.
It probably is Vegetto since he's the one trying to keep the peace, and is actually capable of it.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
How it can be spoiler if it is behind the comic? As I understand it, the novel is based in the manga, not the other way around. Well, no much behind the comic, though. If Google translation is to be trusted, the most recently released chapter of the novel seems to be a scene that is supposed to happen during the post fights break, but before them going to sleep.TonyTheTiger wrote:I tend to try not to pay attention to that to avoid spoilers of the actual comic (although I don't know how similar the two are). It comes off almost like a first draft or something.
If I am not mistaken, the novel serves mostly to add the kind of character interaction it would be really cool to have (specially between the universes) but that it would be distracting from the main action (and the pacing of the story is already slow as it is). I really doubt it will spoil anything.

Well, when I hear it's the "original fanfic" I assumed it came first. Either way, I don't really think reading the same thing but without the pretty pictures is up my alley. What good would Bra's upcoming shower scene be?

There'll be hell to pay if something like that happens in the fanfic but not the comic, won't there.TonyTheTiger wrote:Well, when I hear it's the "original fanfic" I assumed it came first. Well, Gyt Kaliba phrased it wrong. It is not a 'original fanfic'. It is a 'novelization' (it is how it is called in the site). And that word has the implication it came latter, not first.TonyTheTiger wrote:Well, when I hear it's the "original fanfic" I assumed it came first. I understand what you mean, though. I am not even starting right now, since only a couple of chapters have been translated. And when I do, I will probably just skip around to find the new scenes that are not in the comic or maybe the extended version of the scenes that are in the comic. I will also most certainly skip all fights.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
I phrased it that way because that was the way I understood it to be. Somewhere in the back-pages of this thread, I remember reading that there was a fanfiction of this first, and that they were now turning it into the comic version. If it's actually the opposite though, then my mistake. ^_^;Heatth wrote:Well, Gyt Kaliba phrased it wrong. It is not a 'original fanfic'. It is a 'novelization' (it is how it is called in the site). Is Vegetto really that big in comparison to Coola though? That arm looks huge.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Looks a little bit bigger than Coola's arm.Saiga wrote:Is Vegetto really that big in comparison to Coola though? That arm looks huge.
If I recall correctly, Coola is slightly smaller than Goku in his true form.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse

We still don't get to see who it is, but I'm still guessing Vegetto.
The dialogue in panel 4 seems really bizarre though...even for the translation. Usually we can at least understand the meaning of it, but I'm a little lost over what's going on with 'Who are you complaining to?'. And I don't think it is Vegetto in the 5th panel, but I can't tell who it is.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Yeah, and "Let's do the brother..." doesn't really make sense if he doesn't know that Coola's not alone.

I don't understand what the FUCK ARE THEY SAYING!!!
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I think he is talking about Freeza in the 'he' of "He is not alone" . Freeza is surprised in the last panel, and I think it is not because of the person who beat Coola up.CaBrPi wrote:Yeah, and "Let's do the brother..." doesn't really make sense if he doesn't know that Coola's not alone.
I could understood what was being said in the 4th panel, but it was, indeed, confusing. Had to really it a couple of times to get it.

Either way, I think it's safe to say that this page is a grammatical disaster.Heatth wrote:I think he is talking about Freeza in the 'he' of "He is not alone" . Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Read the french version and it's basically the same but with a bit more natural wording. It's actually the lines itself and the panelling/drawings that are confusing.
But basically Vegetto is more or less taunting Coola that he has no "allies", that's why he says "who are you going to complain to (about being hit)".
"Now onto the brother" would have been a better wording.
Then Vegetto notices there's already someone in the room where Frieza is. Frieza notices this person in the last panel. Basically they should have shown some legs behind Frieza to get this message over better. But maybe they want to "surprise" us again about who it might be. I personally don't find a guessing game too exciting.

Okay, that whole page makes a LOT more sense now. Thanks TRL. ^_^TRL wrote:Read the french version and it's basically the same but with a bit more natural wording. It's actually the lines itself and the panelling/drawings that are confusing.

So I guess it was kind of the bad translation striking again more than anything else.
