Toonami might return?
Steve blum went on a anime podcast, Anime Fans Give back, a Site dedicated to donating to japan for the earthquake:

And When Asked about stuff involving toonami, He said to "expect a few toonami surprises in the future"
A few days ago, Andy Merill of William Street (one of the companies that cartoon network owns, Does a lot of Adult Swim stuff), Tweeted this

Friday, March 30 at 8pm eastern on Cartoon Network. You should tune in then. That's all I can say for now.
8PM EST Is not Adult swim time. at all. They start at 9PM EST.
I don't want to raise anybody's hopes up, as well as mine, but what do you guys think?

So what?
I mean, if they bring back DBZ to TV, it's still that horrific English dubbed version.

Either way DBZ wasn't the only good show on Toonami.

Re: Toonami might return?
I'd love to see Toonami return, but all the Dragon Ball series have already aired, so they wouldn't have any DB stuff to put on there.
Re: Toonami might return?
Yeah again that's your opinion. I would be psyched to have Toonami come back on television. There's something about watching the series on tv not to mention other series that could come back with it.penguintruth wrote:... it's still that horrific English dubbed version.

Re: Toonami might return?
I wonder if this is really going to happen??? I would be interested but I think they need to add a new show or two to the lineup if this really is the case!!! Maybe CN takes advantage of the tv rights to the original dragon ball and adds some of the nicktoon viewers to their station??? I would love for Uncut Kai to be put on CN which I really doubt Nicktoons would care since they already have aired every episode!!! Guess we will just have to wait and see

Re: Toonami might return?
I really don't care for CN since I stop watching it nearly six years ago. From what I've seen, Toonami went down hill just before it came to a end. I hardly watch TV anymore since it seems like TV is brainwashed with stuff like Jersey Shore. It's cool for people that like watching Toonami on TV but I rather watch the series on DVD at home instead.

But this is a DBZ board. So I'm guessing the excitement is over a possibility of that awful DBZ dub to be rebroadcast.PhoenixEX wrote:That's your own personal opinion man. Thanks for sharing.penguintruth wrote:So what?

Either way DBZ wasn't the only good show on Toonami.
After all, Nicktoons has the airing rights to the only DB show with a solid English dub.

Who says that it's DBZ or only DBZ? It could be something different or more than that.

Re: Toonami might return?
This is pretty kickin' rad news. After years of people asking for Toonami to return it would be super trippy to see it happen. Every time I think I'm done with this cartoon for awhile something like this pops up.
That being said there's no real guarantee DBZ will air again Toonami or no. So long as they keep that amazing bumper music I'll be happy either way.

Re: Toonami might return?
I'd love to see Toonami return in some capacity. Will I watch it on a regular basis? No, I hardly watch television in general, but I'm all for more anime on basic extended cable, especially on a channel as prestigious as Cartoon Network. If they play their cards right, maybe they can pick up syndication rights for Z Kai later down the line, too. Or maybe they won't even touch Dragon Ball. Either way, there are plenty of other great franchises to capitalize on.
It's been done countless times before, but...

Re: Toonami might return?
Someone more in the know can correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a very Toonamiesque kind of programming block during Friday nights on CN? It was like a couple hours of all their western action cartoons or something. I wonder if they were testing the water...?

Re: Toonami might return?
For a while there was a block of sorts. Batman, Young Justice, Generator Rex, Ben 10, ThunderCats and Star Wars aired on it, but Cartoon Network has disesembled that block recently. All DC Comics cartoons are now airing on Saturday mornings.Akumaito Beam wrote:Someone more in the know can correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a very Toonamiesque kind of programming block during Fridays nights on CN? Anyhow, I doubt Toonami will be revived. There's no reason to, espicially with how Cartoon Network wants next to nothing to do with Japanese cartoons.

Re: Toonami might return?
oh man you got me excited now
I hope Toonami returns for the kids these days. I'd say that ''IF'' Toonami returns there is a pretty good chance Dragonball Z will return to it. or maybe Kai? Hell this would be the perfect opportunity for CN to start getting back into the groove. I mean they could put the new Thundercats on their new Toonami channel the possibilities are endless. But I will agree with the person above that Toonami started getting bad towards the end.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: Toonami might return?
There's kind of no reason they couldn't bring it back and stuff it with western cartoons right? That's how it began way back when IIRC. (Don't get me wrong, there's no doubt this is all a total stretch.)JulieYBM wrote: Anyhow, I doubt Toonami will be revived. I think until there's any reason to correlate this with anything truly DB-related, we'll just keep an eye on it. Thanks.
