Dope. I meant to say R1 and R4.

I should've reread but I honestly thought I wrote "R1 and R4".

By the way, you can get your Xbox 360 to play all DVD regions, but, it's not safe to do (hint: banhammer for hacking).

I've already bought a ton of VHS and Orange Bricks...and the Kai stuff doesn't have my work on it. I also didn't really like the story line changes. The end of the Frieza Saga felt very rushed.

Mostly, its selfish. Just not that interested in paying for a 3rd version of the show that doesn't have my music in it.

The story is exactly the same.

Unless you're referring to the lines that were changed from the English script of Z. And those are corrections, rather than changes.

I buy Kai just for the heck of it. It was there and it was cheap.

Both Z and Kai have their positives and negatives, so I guess I could say I watch both to get the best of both worlds.

You must be talking about the dialogue/script, that was corrected, i.e, improved from before, and the VAs sounded very amateur.

Sabat at that time Vegeta and Piccolo sounded exactly the same to me without any differences, but now in Kai, he made an effort.

Regardless of story, you're being quite selfish, just because it doesn't have your music you should give it a chance. And if it did, it'd probably have no silence moments like it was on FUNi's DBZ. :?

I already own Dragon Ball Z, and don't really care enough about the Funimation dub to buy Kai. I'd buy an Ocean dubbed Kai, or a Kai that was an actual remake.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

That's his choice though. No need to try and make him feel like he has to own it, even if we think it's the better version.

Dude, he's a grown man. I performed in a highschool play based off of Alice In Wonderland, I kept the script, the taped recording and pictures from it but have zero interest in Alice otherwise. Am I suddenly supposed to become some avid fan that collects merch now? I do like the story but the majority of its appeal to me is about the memories of the version I worked on and I'm not too interested in the franchise otherwise. People like things for different reasons. There was no need to slight his music either, that was pretty unclassy.

Perhaps he's also referring to the pacing of the story?

I would love to buy Kai after buying season 1 part 1 early last year but I recently got all the Dragon Boxes so it's not on my list of wants at the moment.

Plus I live in the UK which means importing; as such, it's more logical for me to wait for when the two packs are available.

 Waiting this long has meant that I cant obtain fearly (huh?) releases of Kai since I'm slightly put off by the lack of (the) Yamamoto score. At least with a different musical track I could convince myself that I wasn’t rebuying the series for the N'th time already.

I'm not under the grounds that it feels too much like I'm buying the same show again. Yes, I understand that FUNimation rewrote the script to be like the original, and I commend them for that (it's also more fast paced which is also good), but in my humble opinion, there was not enough done to detract it from the original. For example if Toei had reanimated the show completely with new shots, perspectives, etc. I would have looked at this as an entirely revised production of Dragon Ball Z that would depict it in a more intense perspective. But instead, they decided to modify a few nooks and crannies here and there to make it different.

In summation, it's great to watch on T.V., watch a clip online (to contrast and compare), or even to buy one or two DVDs, but definitely not to collect the whole thing if you've collected Z already or if you're like me and are attached to the original version anyway.

So, just because I own the entire Dragon Box Z collection I shouldn't buy Kai because I've already got Z? :?

Kai isn't a replacement for Z, GD.

You're right, but when Kai adds very little to differ itself from the original, I don't see the reason for another series. That's like if George Lucas released something called "Star Wars Episode VII" and it was just Episodes IV and V put together and shortened. In fact, I can create another example; say they made that movie and had focused on Darth Vader more than Luke Skywalker this time around, it would be something different.

Granted, there a few things that Kai has done to make it unique such as the prolouge that featured Bardock and the flashbacks from the Dragon Ball series to give us the rundown and make us feel as if we knew nothing about it before. But that still doesn't justify judging Kai as it's own seperate series like they have.

With Respect.

Well, I haven't bought it yet simply due to a lack of interest. When they finally get their schtick together and release the series over four consistent season sets with the Kikuchi score (or Yamamoto; I don't care; I just want consistency), I'll probably pick it up, because I really would like a condensed version of the utterly unwatchable mid-late Namek arc.

But even then, it just falls so low on the totem pole compared to other Blu-Ray releases I've intended to pick up. It's hard to justify buying when I've just completed my collection of the original anime trilogy.

Right now Kai gets a big, fat "eventually, probably, maybe."

I don't plan to buy Kai at all. Dragon Boxes are perfect (filler or no filler), so it would be a waste of money for me.

I bought the first Blu-ray set out of curiosity to see what the new dub was like. I was tempted to pick up the other sets as they were coming out but with my purchase of the Dragon Boxes and the musical score fiasco, I just completely lost interest.

I was going to wait until everything was out, but then the music fiasco hit, and you can't get the entire show with a consistent musical score. At this point I don't think I care enough to ever actually buy and watch the show.

I'll have to echo everyone else's sentiments about it not being interesting.

It was a decent experiment which was ruined by poor business decisions that lead it to a premature death. I would have considered getting it if it finished the Buu saga, but I don't want to own an incomplete series *cough*Kenshin*cough*.

I bought the Part 1 Blu-ray last year at the end of May... come to think of it, that was the first Dragon Ball thing I ever actually owned. Time passed and the whole music scandal stuff happened, but I forgot to and didn't have the funds to get the other 3 parts with Yamamoto. Luckily I managed to snatch up Part 2 with Yamamoto some months ago from Rightstuf for a reasonable price (still have yet to watch my part 2 Blu-ray...), but yeah, I'm still buying it. Eventually I will, anyway.
I'd really like to have what is avaible in Yamamoto with that score [on blu-ray], but if not... I guess I'll just get the Season 2 release in July. I'm almost kinda hoping FUNi makes a mistake with this set too :P Although that'd be bad as well
