Kai DVD and Blu-ray Differences
Kai DVD and Blu-ray Differences
Ok I know there's a difference between the DBZ blu-rays and dvds but is there such a difference between kai's dvds and blu-rays? If anyone could post pics that would be great thanks.

Re: DBZ Kai dvd and blu-ray differences
There isn't much of a difference. I mean naturally the Blu-ray is gonna look a bit better than the DVD. But what ever set you get, you're not really missing out on anything major.

I've noticed the colors are brighter and the lines and text are clearer...

(Sorry for the bad alignment. That was the best I could do.)

Re: DBZ Kai dvd and blu-ray differences
There are few episodes in the Namek arc that have 35mm negatives, so those episodes will probably look noticeably better than the DVD. The rest of the series is still 16mm, which means that the Bluray and DVD versions might look identical.

Do you know which episodes and which part there in?Fulicer wrote:There are few episodes in the Namek arc that have 35mm negatives, so those episodes will probably look noticeably better than the DVD. From the latter part of episode 34, Ginyu vs Krillin and Gohan, to the end of episode 38, Piccolo's arrival.DHM211 wrote:Do you know which episodes and which part there in?Fulicer wrote:There are few episodes in the Namek arc that have 35mm negatives, so those episodes will probably look noticeably better than the DVD. If you're thinking about getting Dragon Ball Z Kai, buy the Blu-rays the quality is definitely better and plus, you've got TrueHD sound (Jpn 2.0 + 5.1 Eng).
I'd never ever buy DBZK on DVD, bleh, the series was intended to be seen in HD so I'll just get the remaining DBZKP which is the Eighth (5th June 2012).
Might think about buying the DBZKSBDS when it's confirmed to have the Kikuchi Kai on the new re-release, which probably have.
As for the original music of Kai, screw it, Yukio Nagasaki f-word it up.

I think the English TrueHD track has too much echo, especially on the opening/ending themes. Then again I don't really have the appropriate sound system.
So mondo lame.

Whoa sorry for the big picture I didn't know it was that big
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

No offense, but I'm having a bit of trouble following all these abbreviations that you're using.dbboxkaifan wrote:If you're thinking about getting Dragon Ball Z Kai, buy the Blu-rays the quality is definitely better and plus, you've got TrueHD sound (Jpn 2.0 + 5.1 Eng).

Anyway, if you can get it, the Blu-ray is noticeably better, even on the 16mm episodes, but not nearly as good as, say, the Funimation level sets, mostly due to grain removal. Kai on DVD, though, looks nowhere near as good as the Dragon Boxes.

That image is only for color comparisons, not actual clarity. The Blu-ray shots in that aren't in their full resolution.

Re: DBZ Kai dvd and blu-ray differences
Be careful, they Japanese DVDs/BDs don't have any subs or dubs.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: DBZ Kai dvd and blu-ray differences
And they cost a shitload of money, as do all Japanese DVDs/BDs.
So mondo lame.
Re: DBZ Kai dvd and blu-ray differences
To add on to this, the Japanese Blu-rays and DVDs for Kai before episode 77 have all been discontinued.
