You don't expect that graphics, do you? That's Xbox 360 we are talking about...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

....No.

Graphics will probably look amazing but gameplay will be as crappy as in that plug-2-play.

Probably not neither.

If you've played Kinect games you'd know they're much better than those bs p2p games.

 Yeah, ok. But really, I'd be expecting that type of game play. As far as graphics go, they'll probably recycle old RB2 models or something.

I'm comparing the game to Fable Kinect which is effectively throw-magic-ball-at-target just like the above P2P game.

Oh my god I'm not hardcore, ugh, I'm so crossed I ain't a hardcore gamer. :|

For fuck sake, I don't give a shit what kind of gamer I am (I'm actually a Recreation-ish i.e, not for the wins or for the losses but for the fun), I enjoy the games for the fun, enjoyment and replayability.

Dragon Ball Z games usually tend to be shit so I hope this one is fun to play for once.

NitroEX wrote:If they do stick with fighting games I'de like to see one that's closer to the actual show in terms of the fighting, destruction and the way the characters affect the stages. In the anime the Z fighters and villains look infinitely more powerful than they do in the games and I think it has a lot to do with how the environment reacts to them.
Yeah, I totally agree, I'd really like the in-game effects to be vastly improved. Dust when running/ground-dashing as in Budokai, better aura's like in ESF.
ImageImage
Craters would be an awesome way to show how powerful you are when you power up or transform and I'm surprised it hasn't been used in any of the games yet. Obviously weaker characters like Yamcha wouldn't need this and even the Saiyans in base form wouldn't either but once you transform to Super Saiyan onwards it would be a great way to show your fighter's power.
I'd like this too, but I think that craters being formed every time you charge or power up would take a load of space on the disc. Maybe in the future we could see some of this stuff.
ImageImage
The skies in the anime are always changing colour or being affected in some way by transformations and powerful attacks.
I think it would be really epic to have your actions in the game be the cause of a lightning storm for example.
They sort of have tried to include this already, but only to an extent. Though I guess it figures with the dev time and other priorities.
ImageImageImageImage
Floating rocks! They just make power ups look so much better. Although, again, like the craters I would reserve this for the more powerful characters and transformations.
I think that floating rocks should also appear near the end of the match, to indicate the intensity of the battle.
Image
Breaking away from effects and destruction and more onto fighting I'de like to see some kind of "fake" attack or decoy attack.
I've wanted this for who knows how long. After image attacks should actually look as they did in the bloody show, they've definitely been lazy when implementing this technique. Actually, as it stands it isn't even the same technique, there's no sign of a decoy or multiple image.
ImageImage
Another gameplay element I'de like added are underground sneak attacks. It may sound unusual at first but fighters have done this numerous times throughout the anime and like the decoy attack I think it could have potential to shake up the gameplay a bit.
Sounds interesting. I don't think that every fighter should have such a technique though, only the ones that demonstrated it in the show, otherwise it gets repetitive and its value is lessened. But, if this attack was implemented as Spike usually have done as a 'cutscene' super, where you simply 'dash' at your opponent to initiate the attack, then I'd rather it not included. I hate their method of implementing super attacks, it's lazy as they avoid a big chunk of what fighting games are all about, giving each individual attacks with varying properties meaning you have to lean how to play with each. In the Tenkaichi style however, it's easy and exactly the same pulling off any super attack with any character, whilst the only difference being some have shorter 'dashing' distances. Sorry for the mini-rant.

If they were to do the crater thing they should limit it to certain forms of the most powerful characters. Like Ssj3(or 4) Goku(and Vegeta); Perfect Cell; Broly and so forth. You get the idea. And if it's a disc space issue, save them instead for climatic battles in the story mode; assuming there is one. Hell, I'd be willing to see them cut down the level sizes just so we could get cooler effects. I mean if it's the difference of a really open repetitive map vs a closer more "iterative" one I'd love to go for the latter.

I love football and heck yeah I'd waste my energy on Kinect Football, a game that allows to use the whole body.

Hopefully FIFA 13 will incorporate Kinect and I'll get to play as Ronaldo or Messi. :P

I don't care you're not a hardcore gamer... but do you play many DBZ games?
I'm a (crappy) hardcore-ish gamer. I like my games to be serious. Or at least I like to be able to hold the controller in my hands without having to stand to play the damn game.
I really don't like kinect because it's quite gimmicky. It also has a terrible collection of games.

And what I'm saying is that DBZ kinect will likely become very repetitive and boring, nothing more advanced than throwing ki blasts around. Not an addictive fighter.
Which may be fine to you but not for a lot of us, the people who love playing the Tenkaichi series for eg.

Actually, scratch that "serious" part. I'm not 100% hardcore, I'm a combination of that and recreational. It's really annoying when people cheatto win a game It's also really annoying to lose constantly.
My recreational side is fed up of COD games D: so I may turn to selling MW3... but not Black Ops.

Ignore my dilemma. I just don't like having to move anything but my thumbs for a video game.

What I find amazing is that there is a certain age group that prefer controller games and every other age prefers Kinect/Wii. For example my dad would kill for a Kinect and my mum was disappointed when she found the Wii couldn't kick. Younger children also go for kinect.
But my older brothers and I prefer to use games with something that we can hold rather than physically do. My brothers have a kinect but would rather play Black Ops.

BACK ON TOPIC.

DBZ kinect does not appeal to me but feel free to discuss what you'd like to see in it.

For the Yearly games they need a new damn formula. It's getting old and the cutscenes are terrible and the graphics are quite lazy.
MORE CHARACTERS. MORE TRANSFORMATIONS FOR SAID CHARACTERS. MORE WHAT-IFs. MORE CUSTOMIZATION.

...What if...you could make a Saiyan character look like higher levels of SSJ? Like give them the hair and aura (and perhaps strength and abilities?) of a SSJ2/3.

See, what I would like to see is the possibility to make a SSJ2 Teen Goten with a Halo and a SKIRT and baseball cap on and a Tail that can turn green.

Not that that's what I'd make but we need customization to be that deep. And we need more characters from different ages. Like Teen Goten and Adult Gohan. And the return of Chibi Goten and (Pre-Buu) Gohan.
And all forms of characters like Base Kid Gohan (and SSJ2 Gotenks?)
Gohan's Orange Star outfit please. Or an unlockable Orange Star outfit for any character. Imagine that - interchangeable outfits capsules!

So yeah, gameplay change = needed. And the roster is getting smaller and smaller.

One last idea... a capsule for Saiyan SSJ hair to become like it was in the Frieza/Android saga, blocklike gold rather than fine and fair.

Okay. Chances of all of these being possible = 0%
Chances of SOME of these being possible = 40%

While BT3 and RB2 have practically the same gameplay, I'd play RB2 over BT3 any day.

1. The characters don't feel like they're just stupid clones who do the same crap in RB2.
2. The soundtrack's awesome (BT3's soundtrack is awful so I just muted the music in-game)
3. Lots of characters doesn't mean to be the "BEST DBZ GAME EVAR!!!".
4. RB2 features Dragon Ball Z Kai dub (with the exception of Dameon Clarke not being in as Cell).
5. Graphics have been improved a lot (I like seeing the DBZ characters more detailed and clear in HD).
6. Galaxy Mode is far more challenging and longer than BT3's story mode.

7. BT3's gameplay is faster, more control than the RB series but due to the cloned characters playing the god damn same. Yes, RB2 also has the same.

But take that Explosion Wave and compare it to the characters, they all do the same with no difference other than the possible colour modification.

8. I felt like Spike actually made an effort to make Raging Blast 2.

Characters list: BT3 (+1)
Soundtrack: RB2 (+1)
Gameplay: BT3 (+2)
Graphics: RB2 (2)
Play Mode: RB2 (+3)
Effort: RB2 (+4)

So..
RB2 - 4 votes
BT3 - 2 votes

If Spike invested more time on creating a quality DBZ game than adding characters like it's the most important thing in the game, then BT3 would possibly have been the best game, but it wasn't.

Dimps' is still my fave for DBZ games (Burst Limit = DBZ Kai Game).

Note: It's my opinion. Obviously.

Given the content, the play modes, the character count, the solid gameplay(even if it got repetitive) and all the extra stuff I'd say Spike put all it's effort in BT3 over RB2. I mean we are missing characters, the gameplay is even more simplified, and we lost specific modes. The only positive parts of the game came from an outsourced animation studio(PtEtSS) and the voice acting(again Spike doesn't handle this). The HD look was done better in Burst Limit, and Online at this point should be expected. Honest question because I don't remember, didn't RB2 lose Tournament Mode? I don't know why I think it did.

Nope, it kept it and improved it in my opinion (the ability to have things like Saiyan-only or Villain-only tournaments was cool) although they may have done that in RB1.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Knowing how DBZ games online are, BL's probably nothing special neither as the others.

If someone's gonna buy a DBZ do it for the offline experience, don't expect a fun online mode.

Yea, but more then any other part of the game, the online experience is something we control. If you want a better online experience, start making it happen.

I wouldn't mind some amazing CG story cut scenes like the ones in Budokai.
