Re: Toonami may potentially return.
I really do hope Toonami comes back. Dragonball always seemed better on there for some reason.
Re: Toonami may potentially return.
Yeah, I caught it. It was when I turned on the TV to watch FMAB, then DBZ started, and I did the biggest "WTF?!" face ever. LOL But when they showed Gundam Wing, Trigun, Blue Sub. #6, etc., my childhood just washed over me (these dubs in particular have actually held up pretty well). I was actually pretty surprised when they showed the new Tenchi Muyo! OVA; I didn't even know there was a dub for that (Kinda off-topic, but did Matt Miller always sound that stiff? I don't remember.
). I even stayed up watching all throughout Astro Boy and Gigantor in the graveyard shift!
I wouldn't mind seeing a sort of Adult Swim Toonami block on Saturday nights, but they would really have to embrace it. Show the older stuff (Gundam, Trigun, Outlaw Star), but also mix it in with the newer stuff they've got (Bleach, FMAB, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note). And when I say embrace it, I mean uncuts. Ideally, I would totally love to see the uncut Kai dub on there instead of the crappy DBZ dub to really sell the "adult" angle. This is just a pipe dream of mine at this point, but I think a revamped Toonami could work wonders for Adult Swim.

Yeah, the only way the old BZ dub should be on a new Toonami is for the Buu Saga, at least until Kai gets round to that part. And the less said about GT, the better.Gonstead wrote:If Toonami is actually going to come back, Kai should be in Z's place if Funimation are being more respectful to the franchise. They've already got masters ready for use so it's just up to AS to chose whether to buy airing rights or not.
OFF TOPIC: This is the perfect chance for One Piece to make a comeback on TV.

Re: Toonami may potentially return.
If Toonami returned that would be great. I wouldn't watch it everyday like I used to when I was a little kid, but I would catch it sometimes. It would be best for DBZ to start at the Majin Buu Arc if Toonami came back. The Saiyan/Freeza and Artificial Human/Cell Arc's are very cringeworthy at times dub-wise but still nostalgic nonetheless. The Majin Buu Arc was the best dub wise out of the three. Another option for them is to have an hour of DBZ, with the first episode showing the Saiyan/Freeza and Artificial Human/Cell Arc's, and the second episode showing the Majin Buu Arc.
Re: Toonami may potentially return.
Did anyone watch this on Cartoon Network HD? I doubt FUNimation gave the network an HD master of the DBZ episode that aired (Although the Yu Yu Hakusho episode seemed to be sourced from the Blu-ray but aired in an incorrect aspect ratio, very strange). For anyone who saw it, did it look terrible?

Re: Toonami may potentially return.
From what I understand, it was the original single footage CN has had, but upscaled by CN and stretched to fit widescreen.
Yu Yu Hakusho would've looked correct...if you're watching CN IN HD. But some of us just have regular cable, etc.

I have the Yu Yu Hakusho Blu-rays and from what I saw, CN seemed to use that as a source. It was even in the correct aspect ratio as compared to the other shows.

I didn't see it air on TV, but from the clips I saw on Youtube it looked like the 2004 single DVD they used for footage. It was in fullscreen, stretched to 16:9, and the narration was Kyle Hebert's as opposed to Dale Kelly as it originally aired and I'm pretty sure he replaced Dale on that DVD.

I'm not american nor living in US but this is good news for the anime fans in US, personally I never cared about watching anime on TV because I couldn't bother waiting for the X show to finally air.
Blu-rays and DVDs are the definitive solution, or PC/streaming.

FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
Re: Toonami may potentially return.
I watched the standard definition channel and it was the pillar-boxed Blu-ray footage but squished into a 4:3 space. I have a wide screen TV so it looked doubly pillar-boxed!Soul wrote:Yu Yu Hakusho would've looked correct...if you're watching CN IN HD. But some of us just have regular cable, etc.

I voted in their poll, but wasn't their poll supposed to be an April fool's prank or something?
Re: Toonami may potentially return.
Steve Blum also posted about it last night, "Ok people- I'm in. Continue the barrage! #BringBackToonami" I'd say this is a really good sign, and the odds that Toonami makes a comeback have gone up greatly in the past several days.

BREAKING NEWS: Steve Blum said this - @ERockstar5 @adultswim We're talking about licensing deals and network negotiations. This doesn't happen in weeks. Patience, my friend.

Re: Toonami may potentially return.
There's a big 'if' that's missing from what's in his tweet. Blum knows absolutely nothing about what's going on. They just pay him to talk into the can.

If Blum knows nothing then how is he able to openly say something like that?JulieYBM wrote:There's a big 'if' that's missing from what's in his tweet. Blum knows absolutely nothing about what's going on. They just pay him to talk into the can.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.
.
Re: Toonami may potentially return.
Read his Twitter yourself. He says he doesn't know anything. He might have an understanding of the potential process, but that is still far removed from actually knowing something is happening.
