Heya everyone! I've been thinking of this for awhile...In Dragonball, Kami-sama is God, and his evil half, Piccolo Daimao, is a Demon King. So, after thinking about how Kami-sama is God, can Piccolo Daimao be considered the Satan of Dragonball? I mean, they've always been enemies, Piccolo Daimao cares nothing of human life, Kami-sama cares deeply for the lives of human beings...
You see the similarites between Satan and Piccolo Daimao?

I'm sure Toriyama-sensei wasn't thinking about this when he created DB, but it's got me thinking...

You got a point Chaos Saiyajin, seeing that Piccolo Daimao is called a Demon King, you can safely say that Piccolo Daimao is the Satan of Dragonball.

I don't think the Dragon World has a Satan. There's no need for one. Enma-Daio and the oni watch over the afterlife, so what would there be for him to do?
Interesting theory though.

In Chinese mythology, such a name isn't rare for a demon to use. Look at Gyuumaou, he is called a Ox Demon King too, can't see him in Satan role

Strong demons call themselves "Daimaou" or just "Maou" all the time, so it wouldn't be strange for Piccolo to adopt such a name, without really aiming to be the Satan for the DB world.

You are right Ash, Piccolo might just have think he is a Demon King just like Freeza thinking that he was the best in the universe, but how can you explain the monsters and demons army he have?

Actually, I always thought of Piccolo (Jr.) as both Satan and Jesus in the DB universe.
No, seriously.

How can he be the Jesus?
Isn't Dabura the Satan in DB, he was in Sandland...I think. Or is this only about Dragonball(vol 1-16)?

Because he's the son of Kami (so to speak).
And Dabura was the ruler of the world of shadows/chaos/whatever the fuck it's called. Lucifer/Satan/whoever in Sandland just looked a hell of a lot like him.

Well to quote Sato's take on the question at hand, "Daimao can't be DB's Satan. He doesn't have the afro."

Actually, if I assume your speaking of Ma Jr., then he was the son of Satan in this case. That makes him, theoretically, the opposite of Jesus.

But unlike Lucifer, Piccolo Daimao is simply the darker half of Kami, or, the wrathful side of God. The son of the wrathful side of God is still the son of God.
Why am I arguing for this? I don't even agree! Piccolo is not Satan/Lucifer/Beelzebub in any way!

Glad to see everyone's opinions! I just thought'd this would be a very interesting thing to discuss, since Toriyama-sensei created Kami-sama, but gave him no official Devil. ^_^
If you look at GT's ending, it's funny how a former Demon King comes to rule over Hell in the afterlife!

The dub did that. That was a wacky dub.

Oh God, that was so crappy it was enjoyable. Great VA for Bardock and Radditz, though.

I'm sure Toriyama-sensei wasn't thinking about this when he created DB, but it's got me thinking...
You are sure? Well It sure is the demon king! Indeed it is satan.
He didn't receive all these names just because it is cool to name
charaters "kami" and "daimao"..
The story about Kami-sama and Piccolo-daimao is about how
god itself part in two, becoming the good part and the evil part.
But japanese religion/culture is not just about god and demon..
so thats why it cannot be taken that seriously.
You should know this too.. Dabura from DBZ is the image of the
real demonlord adopted by Toriyama. He drew "Dabura" as the
real demonlord in Dragonquest AND Sandland too. It is worthwhile to see.

He's too weak to be Satan. His PL, far as I know, is less than 300. But you know what? In a chapter in volume(I forgot which), some average Namekian warriors' PLs were like 3,000. So why's he so frigging weak?

Because he was only half of a Namek'jin and he never had anyone near his strength to train with, unlike other Nameks.

Correct. This is also why Goku and the others weren't as strong as Radditz. No one on Earth was even near the 1000 barrier of PL.
