No it didn't. What you're thinking if is the reference to the original Japanese Dragon Boxes being released in limited quantities.dbboxkaifan wrote:That yellow sticky card that came with the Dragon Boxes Z clearly said somewhere it was a limited product.Kuririn Of Orin wrote:Actually, Funi never said the Dragon Boxes were limited, they didn't even give hints as to what their availability was. Hey! Just letting you guys know that Dragon-box 3 is now out of stock again on Walmart.com
http://www.walmart.com/ip/14311871 I'm glad I got mine for 31.96 instead of paying like 80 or 90 bucks for it on Ebay or Amazon.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

If anybody is curious about how the Dragon Boxe's are looking over at Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... Dragon+Box
Got a few used Box 3's for less than $50 right now. Just yesterday there was a used Box 1 going for around $40.
I'm still surprised how common 5-7 are compared to 1-4. I mean they must have made more of 5-7 huh? People who picked up 1-4 right when they came out would surely get 5-7 eventually. When you add up all the fans who bought 1-4 and contributed to their current scarceness, and later 5-7, it surprises me how there are still so many more of 5-7. Even though they were released last, they still should have sold similar to 1-4 . I suppose there are still those who have yet to complete their collection, but still, it seams strange to me how abundant 5-7 still are. (Obviously 2 has reasons for selling out first, orange brick season 2...)

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
Well Dbox 7 came out on October 11th, 2011 so I'd say it'll still be around at a reasonable price until years end at the latest. After that, it will most likely fluctuate in price like crazy.Char Aznable wrote:How long do you guys think #7 will be around for? I've been buying them in order and it's the last one I need, but I'm really short on cash for awhile. I hope it at least sticks around until the end of the year.
Can't say the same for Dboxes 5 and 6 though. Dbox 5 came out on April 26th, 2011 so almost a year ago. I predict it'll start fluctuating in price by this summer. I wouldn't expect it to stay at $31.99 on Amazon by the end of the summer.
Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
Remember that Dbox 3 was fairly common until just a few months ago when it started going crazy in price. 5-7 are common right now because they've just been released less than a year ago, while 1-4 have been on the market for a while now. I wouldn't be surprised if the last three boxes start getting pricey and scarce by the end of this year.dprez wrote:I'm still surprised how common 5-7 are compared to 1-4. The time to buy them for cheap is now. I doubt they'll get any cheaper than what they already are unless Amazon makes one of their random super sales like they did last summer with all boxes up to the 6th one for $23.99. And last only lasted a few days if I remember correctly.

It's abundant, then all of the sudden it disappears.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.

At this point, you can sell off your US Dboxes and get the JP ones at the same price.

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
Hey guys, I notice Box Four is out of stock everywhere on the internet, or alternatively, it has an exorbitant price attached to it much like Box One and Two, but I DID manage to find it for $45 (and free shipping) at the Funimation Channel shop! I'm glad I tried... honestly, I was expecting it to be out of stock like every other big name carrier online, but as it turns out, it wasn't. Here's the link:
http://www.funimationchannel.com/shop/p ... -FOUR.html
I picked up a copy (mainly to replace the disc my brother scratched beyond repair...
), and got Box Seven from Amazon. My quest for the Dragon Boxes is complete! I can finally breathe a sigh of relief and now pick up any and all Dragon Ball merchandise I want at my leisure, and I hope this helps someone in their own endeavors.
And, wow, I searched prices for Box One and Two on Google right before posting here, and I managed to find a website that looks safe and reliable that stocks both for only around $36 apiece! Checking their shipping rates, yes, they are a company based in the U.S. but will also deliver internationally. As far as I can tell, both boxes are indeed in stock, and you should probably pick them up soon, just in case. Here's the link for that:
http://www.smartzplace.com/dragonball-z ... vt/3867578
You can see Box Two in the suggested items list below.
Alright, I think that's about all I can find as of now... good luck, fellow collectors!

^ Dude your amazing!!! I thought I would never get #4..
Also, as for the Bottom link, Box sets 1, 2, and 3 are on "order" so who knows when they'll be in stock and for what price.

Re: FUNimation's Dragon Boxes have indeed been discontinued
Surprise, surprise, the Dragon Boxes Z can be obtained for affordable prices, though now, you have to be patient with them.
The casual fan will go with the Orange Bricks.
I could sell my Dragon Box Z Vol. 2 for much more than I paid for but then my Dragon Box Z collection would be incomplete. So not happening.

Wow. Good for you ChouGohan. So with enough patience, are you telling me that I wouldn't have had to spend $180 on my Dragon Box 2!?!?

It is so awesome to hear fans are finally getting their hands on the (usually) more expensive Dragon Boxes.
Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Awesome! I ordered #4. Because I needed it. Before any goddamn scalpers get to them all. Unfortunately for them, I'm not insane enough to pay $200+ for a single box.
I kinda knew something like this would turn up eventually. I'm sure, at some point, the stupidity will die down and they'll go for acceptable prices on Ebay and Amazon. Again. For folks who still need Box 2 and soon 4, I'm sure.
I'd kinda given up on it until that time came, but... right now works too!
