Poor 17, heh. And I love 18's reaction and Yamucha's trying to convince her again.

I'm not sure I like that a perfectly nonchalant Goku can one shot #17 with a love tap like that. I figure he'd have to at least exert some effort to lay him out. At least he didn't do it in base. That's satisfying, I guess. Although you'd think Goku would be more of the "let's make this a good fight" instead of "end it as quickly as possible" mindset. Seeing him fight in base first would have been more entertaining.

Also, Yamcha.

I don't think Goku would waste his time on someone who won't even challenge him in a fight. Goku is way out of 17's league and he knows that. So he decided to end the battle quickly instead of prolonging it.

Also, this is a little unrelated but this has always been on my mind. On the cover of chapter 19 (page 401) shows the characters of U9 and next to Cyborg Yamcha is (who I'm assuming) is Bulma. From the looks of it, they seem to be a couple. And yet during the fight between 18 and Yamcha, he totally hits on her. Is cyborg Yamcha a philanderer?

Well, there's always been that 'Yamcha's a player' vibe they bring up, or at least Bulma brings it up a lot, but honestly I'm not too sure how much I buy into it myself.

I mean, the guy goes from being afraid of girls, into a player, and the only real evidence we have of it is the word of a woman that's...less than scrupulous herself? If anything, I'd say she's the one that cheated on him (leading to Trunks), or if Yamcha did cheat first, it was kind of an 'Oh, so this is what you think of me? All right, fine then.' kind of thing that lead to him cheating. If it's the latter case, you almost can't even blame him.

Sorry, didn't mean to go into a character rant, but it's something I've thought for a while now whenever the Yamcha thing comes up.

I never really saw Yamcha as cheater myself. To me he was just a good looking chap that got a lot of unwanted attention from the ladies, which made his (probably) promiscuous girlfriend very jealous.

He never was like that. In the Tenkaichi Budokai, he always finished his opponents off as quick as possible, unless they were a challenge.

That, I agree with. Or if he used Kaio-ken.

#17's line in the first panel reminded me of Ivan Drago's "I fight for me!" line in Rocky IV (best Rocky film, IMO).

Heh, glad someone agrees. 8)

Also, I wonder, if Gokuu actually was interested in having a remotely entertaining fight, perhaps he did what Recoom did to Kuririn and accidentally knocked him out too early. Then again, Gokuu at this point would have much more ki control than Recoom, unless it's meant to be a gag.

It seems like they want this to be done and over with. I think the next outcome is going to be:

South Kaio Shin vs. Buu - Buu

Ubb vs. Nail - Ubb

Trunks vs. Vegeta - Can go either way depending how much stronger Trunks has become but I think Vegeta is likely going to win.

Pan vs Kakarotto - I think even if Kakarotto does hold back that he is still likely going to win since I doubt Pan is around his level.

Cell vs. Bojack - I doubt Bojack is any stronger then we saw him in Movie 9, so Cell is likely going to win.

Tapion vs. Kuririn - I guess it can go either way, Kuririn could win 6/10.

Vegito vs XXI - If XXI is going to be the main villain of the story then Vegito is likely going to lose. Watch Goku kill XXI with a multiversal genki dama  .

#18 vs. Arale - #18

Gotenks vs. NekoMajin - This should be a fun match but I do see Gotenks end up winning.

Tenshinhan vs. Buu - Unless Tenshinhan pulls off some plot device, I really doubt he is going to win.

Bra vs. Eleim - Bra

Bardock vs. King Cold - King Cold

Raichi vs. U18 Vegeta - Unless Raichi has something powerful that he can show off then I think Vegeta could win.

Gast vs. King Piccolo - Gast

I don't think I would buy Goku having too big of a fight against 17. I don't care much for power comparisons, but I feel like a Goku that has defeated Buu and Trained Uub should lay 17 unconscious with a good kiai lol

I don't think so. I believe that what Freeza said is right. He can't be disqualified for killing someone from his own universe. The rule must only apply to inter-universe relations.

Otherwise, all of universe 8 would be disqualified and there would be some sort of announcement regarding that.

So he didn't hit Nappa? I thought that's why he was angry and killed Butta...

EDIT: Went back a few pages. D'oh, my bad lol. Nappa gets mad trolling points anyway.

This is exactly how I saw the outcome would be around the time when the whole XXI thing being the main villain came about.

Or fusion of Vegeta and Goku to face off against XXI which then leads into the multiversal genki dama.

That doesn't make sense because not every member of a universe needs to be allies. Otherwise Bojack could kill all the fanservice girls or Raichi could kill Bardock (or vice versa) and they'd get away with it. And since same-universe matchups are allowed, killing somebody from your own universe outside a match is no different than killing anybody else. I think this is just another example of the organizers having completely lost control over their own tournament.
