Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season One & Two - 22nd May 2012!
Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season One & Two - 22nd May 2012!
Whelp, if people are really wanting a consistent score, they can now just buy Season 1 and 2 and Part's 5 - 8.
Easy enough unless they're wanting to save space or something.

Wow, yea. I didn't even realize of that. With these two releases, we now have all of DBZK on DVD\Blu-ray with the Shunsuke Kikuchi score.Gonstead wrote:Whelp, if people are really wanting a consistent score, they can now just buy Season 1 and 2 and Part's 5 - 8.

I still don't get why Amazon is charging so much more for the DVD than the Blu-ray... The Blu-ray is cheaper there than the DVD is anywhere else I can find! What the hell kind of logic is that?
After searching around, it looks like Target is the only place offering a comparatively reasonable price compared to Amazon's Blu-ray prices, so I guess I'll just end up ordering from there. It's still more expensive, as free shipping isn't available there unless it's over $50, and I'm not buying both sets together as I don't have the money at the moment.

Finally. I wonder what took them so long just for replacing the audio tracks... It was way too long and confusing as hell. Anyway, have you checked out the Japanese audio track as well?Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Hey, so I got Seasons 1 and 2 today and yes, it's Shunsuke Kikuchi's score. Also, everything is still labeled as "Part 1". Here's a horrible quality clip showing those two things!

Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season One & Two - 22nd May 2012!
Since Tanooki has the "new" version with the confirmed Kikuchi replacement score, could anyone with the original release of "season one" from last year (with Yamamoto) put up some pictures of the packaging and see if there's any way we can tell the difference between the two? Even if it's just the SKU or something.
Won't help for online retail purchasing, and since this stuff is rarely in stores anymore... well... I dunno, just something to check out

Oh God, the horror has finally arrived. Guess this means officially Yamamoto is erased from history at this point.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Hey, so I got Seasons 1 and 2 today and yes, it's Shunsuke Kikuchi's score. I very much hope Ocean replaces the score for their dub, even if it is cheesy as hell. Anythings better than hearing trumpets blaring over and over and over for the hundredth millionth time.
Anyways, thanks for uploading and confirming, Tanooki. Wouldn't mind seeing some different scenes for comparisons sake. Although, I suppose there isn't really any different tracks used in Parts 5-8 than in Season 1 and 2.

I have both versions. I guess I just wanted to have the old score too in some capacity, maybe just something to look back on later.VegettoEX wrote:Since Tanooki has the "new" version with the confirmed Kikuchi replacement score, could anyone with the original release of "season one" from last year (with Yamamoto) put up some pictures of the packaging and see if there's any way we can tell the difference between the two? The old SKU (Yamamoto):

The new SKU (Kikuchi):

If you're in a store and want to know which version is which, there's an easy way to figure this out. Just look at the last two numbers in the bottom row. 93 and 97. 93 comes first so just think of that as the earlier release, and 97 comes after so it's the release that came after.
Also, I just noticed in both versions, that the "Z" in the "Dragon Ball (Z) Kai" logo for the first episode is present. Back when this was first being released as "parts", the first episode was missing the "Z".
Yea, I did. I thought it would be funny if the Japanese score was different than the English version. They're the same.kei17 wrote: Anyway, have you checked out the Japanese audio track as well?

It was just the Textless opening bonus on part one that left the Z out, wasn't it?Tanooki wrote:Also, I just noticed in both versions, that the "Z" in the "Dragon Ball (Z) Kai" logo for the first episode is present. Actually, pointless question Tanooki, but what about Freeza's voice in episode 1? Still Linda Young?

Ah well, guess these sets are the final version of Kai in the US.
Heh, especially with the discs still being "Parts", I'm considering just getting Parts 5-8 but eh, packaging would bug me.

Not sure. I thought it was in the actual episode opening. Well, I went back and checked the new Season 1 textless opening and the "Z" is there. So, either way...dragondyle wrote:It was just the Textless opening bonus on part one that left the Z out, wasn't it?Tanooki wrote:Also, I just noticed in both versions, that the "Z" in the "Dragon Ball (Z) Kai" logo for the first episode is present. Ocean Kai? We've been hearing about Ocean Kai since 2010-2011 an we have nothing other than a video of a voice actor saying they were dubbing or something.saiyanprimalforce wrote:I very much hope Ocean replaces the score for their dub, even if it is cheesy as hell. DBZ TOEI - DBZ Japanese Audio
DBK TOEI - DBK Japanese Audio
DBZA TFS - TFS Dub
DBZ FUNi - Ocean Dub
DBZ FUNi - FUNi Dub
DBZ Funi - FUNi Kai Dub
DBZ ABG - AB Groupe Dub
DBZ Malay - Malaysian Dub
Just pick one and move on.
Edit: Is the Kikuchi placement basically the same as in the Artificial Humans and Cell's arc?
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

So, the replacement score using the same template for the discs. That doesn't bother me, but at least we now have a consistent score.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:Hey, so I got Seasons 1 and 2 today and yes, it's Shunsuke Kikuchi's score. Pretty much. And besides, The Kikuchi score episodes for the Saiyan/Freeza arcs have been on Nicktoons and Toonzai for a while now, which I'm sure you know.dbboxkaifan wrote:Edit: Is the Kikuchi placement basically the same as in the Artificial Humans and Cell's arc?
Aside from the SKU, the packaging won't help. My season 1 set lists Kikuchi as the composer on the cover but has Yamamoto's music, so yeah. The last two digits of my SKU is (are?) 92, so I guess it's congruent.VegettoEX wrote:Since Tanooki has the "new" version with the confirmed Kikuchi replacement score, could anyone with the original release of "season one" from last year (with Yamamoto) put up some pictures of the packaging and see if there's any way we can tell the difference between the two? Re: Dragon Ball Z Kai: Season One & Two - 22nd May 2012!
Apart from the few random clips I've sampled here and there, along with listening to the first Kai ost composed by Kenji Yamamoti, I haven't paid too much attention to the Kai series. It is such a shame that Yamamoto's work won't be attached to the DVD releases in its entirety. To me, that was the only 'refreshing' aspect of the product.
I won't be purchasing any of the Kai sets at this point, which is a shame, as I was holding out until the title saw its' full release. Now, it will be a headache just to differentiate between sets concerning the first few parts of the releases. Appreciate the tip there though Tanooki.

Amen! It was at that point I could actually stand to watch the dub - since at this point the music was nice and refreshing and the voice actors had basically developed their styles for the characters better. Unfortunately, it's back to the sub for me.Snail wrote:It is such a shame that Yamamoto's work won't be attached to the DVD releases in its entirety.
