How often do you watch the series?

Post by samuraix123 » Wed May 02, 2012 9:22 am

Hello Fellow Dragonballers(I need that trademarked  )
How often do you watch Dragonball Z? or any other parts of the series for that matter, such as GT or the Original Dragonball. maybe tell how many times you watch the movies as well :)
right now I'm on the last disc of Dragon-box 6. I try to watch the entire Z series once a year. I haven't watched all of the original Dragonball, I'm hoping Funimation fixes that problem by releasing the Dragonbox masters :) as for GT ''Eh whenever I haft too'' I watch the movies a-lot as well. so get busy and tell me :D
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128
Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years!

The last thing I watched was Kai, and GT all the way through prior to that. I've been meaning to go through the entire series again soon. I definitely used to watch it a lot more than I have recently--probably in some form every day. I miss those times!

It took me exactly the whole summer to finish the DB/Z/GT/Kai Episodes/Movies/Specials/OVAs marathon. And I'm tired. But I recently started re-watching the final fights.

Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Wow. This is something I definitely plan on doing in the future.

I finished my Dragon Box watching marathon about 3 months ago, and since then I've only watched a few of my favorite scenes from time to time when I need my Dragon Ball fix. I plan on watching the Dragon Ball anime first ( Which I have never seen all the way through in Japanese. It's awesome that I still have half the series to experience in it's original animated form! :P ) before my next run through DBZ. I plan on purchasing the movie packs and the blue bricks before my next run through the series. It's gonna be so fun watching the movies and original Dragon Ball in Japanese.

Every other weekend me and my boyfriend watch Dragon Ball. He never saw most of the episodes and is not really familiar with the series so it's fun to watch his reaction to certain scenes.

I probably watch bits of episodes or so everyday. I have them all saved to my computer, so it's very easy to just take 5 minutes to watch a funny segment or something. Not to mention that I've done a lot of editing since the beginning of the year, so my life has sort of revolved around the show. Kind of why I joined this site - I needed info on what to cut, and this database is robust!

However, when I get some weeks off, I'll take them and won't even have the show in my mind. The last time I was like this was before the school quarter started, and I had a week of Final Fantasy 8 gaming. The previous week I finished watching my edit of the Dragon Ball series with my sister before she went on vacation. I'll watch my Boo saga edits after that with her when she comes back, and GT after that (for the :x factor), so there's a lot more to watch.

Right now I'm watching Dragon Ball with my son after school/work. We used to do 1 episode a day, but will not do 2 if the one we saw was very good. We saw all of Dragon Ball together subbed in Japanese, and he loves it). I posted recently that we're about to get into the Garlic Jr stuff but grossly underestimated how long the Freeza battle is in "Z". I am not complaining though. I recently installed surround sound and I can't wait to see/hear/feel the battles. We recently watched DBZ Movie 3: Tree of Might , and it was such a rush to hear the key blasts and explosions literally shake my living room. Wonderful experience. He adored the film (first time he saw it). It's one of my favourite ones too. In general, I watch everything every two-three years. Literally start from scratch, and watch an ep a night or right after work. You'd be surprised how fast it goes.

Oh I LOVE showing someone the entire series. Especially to see their reactions like you wrote. Last time I saw the entire series in Japanese was in college. My GF at the time didn't really like the series too much but I actually remember her laughing out loud at the most random moment
1. When Trunks/Goten/Piccolo hilariously dodged an attack that Buu fired at Gohan.
2. For my son, he was literally covering his face when Vegeta/Freeza were closing in on Krillin and Gohan as they were summoning Porunga. The entire sequence is pure genius and I was really impressed with Toriyama's writing style there.
3. He shed tears of joy and was cheering both times Goku finally showed up to fight Nappa and Recoome.

I always love those little moments.

How often do I what with the who, now...?

Theoretically I'm watching DBGT once a month. That's... err... about it these days. You'd think that running a major website about the series would make me dive in more often, but I really don't. Even if I'm researching something specific, I'll go right to it and pull what I need rather than casually watch or read around it for a while. Maybe that's my curse? That I'm doing too much surrounding the series to actually enjoy it...? And maybe because I'm not "enjoying" it, I actually still like it more than I probably should...? :P

I still haven't gotten through my Dragon Boxes... I stopped watching when Kaioshin showed up and I haven't watched since!

Hard to say an exact number or ratio here, but I did just finish a long watching period of DB/Z/GT, all the way through (series, movies, specials, etc.) subbed, and that took me a little over a year I think (I took a break after every 'season' with movies and such scattered throughout), so...I'm probably not watching it again for a loooonnnggg while.

Kai on the other hand, I was finally able to get the rest of it off of my DVR not too long ago. And when I pick up Parts 7 and 8, I plan to do a full series watch of it in dubbed format, but that may not be right away either.

Quite a bit. I've found myself watching Dragon Ball Z more lately than Dragon Ball though. I would say I probably spend a couple hours a week watching it.

I typically pick a day and breeze through the whole manga once a month, but I don't really watch the anime all that often anymore, though I have seen it all the way through, multiple times. I did marathon the Z Dragon Boxes as they were released and I will do the same for the rest of the series if Funimation decides to produce the other boxes. Kai, I haven't really seen any of it besides a few bits and pieces here and there. The movies and specials are different cases. Being so short, I just pop them in whenever I have the desire to watch them...

I don't tend to watch my Dragon Boxes as much, as it's a fair investment to put on some of the full Z series. Mostly, my Dragon Boxes are there if I want to check some clips in Japanese, or am translating some stuff, or if I honestly just wanna watch some Z. Most of the time, I actually go to Kai, if I'm just feeling a little bored and wanna watch some Dragon Ball, in some chunks. I just pick a part in the series and pop in the corresponding discs. "Hmm... What do I feel like watching to kill some time? Hmm... I kinda feel like seeing the run-up to Cell absorbing 17 and 18, let's pop in Disc 2 of Part 6, and watch the Piccolo-17 fight and aftermath."

Due to the general release of Z in the UK, I've actually not watched the full uncut series more than once.

I was watching about 10 episodes per day. It will take me some years to re-watch the whole franchise again, but I enjoyed it a lot.
