For those that already have DBZ Kai Season One and Two, are there any 'rare' or 'exclusive' Kikuchi Z BGMs that weren't played later on the series (Cell's arc, for example)?

IIRC, it's pretty much the same, I think, I've been watching the Latin Spanish, Brazilian and Catalán Kai dubs for the dubs and listen to how the BGMs are placed.

I know what you mean Snail next to the new english dub the Yamamoto score was one of the best aspects of Kai and i'm still pissed at how Toei handled everything, also I'm curious about something theoreticaly speaking do you guys think Toei would let international distributors restore the Yamamoto score to Kai or at the very least release the final OST if people worldwide boycotted all anime and products from Toei until they did?
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

I'm surprised no musician has yet decided to put a lawsuit against Toei Animation for ripping their music even though it wasn't Toei Animation exactly, but Kenji Yamamoto.

He was only fired, not much of a punishment. :?

Megaman and Monster Rancher BGMs in Kai could work, I think, I liked them on Ocean's version. Or a rushed BGM placements of Takaki's music.

Personally I don't think any musician who's had something of theirs ripped off by Yamamoto really care about being ripped off by him, for all we know they might even like that he used their work as a way of showing his appreciation of their artistic skills and tastes even though it was a little too obvious, not only that but they might also see his ripoffs as a way for them to gain more exposure of their works to a broader audience (before the whole Kai music scandal went down I had no interest in Avatar, however after hearing what song "The ebb and the flow" was plagerized from I got curious and now "War" is one of my favorite songs) and honesty I'm surprised that Yamamoto hasn't decided to release the un-released Kai tracks himself, chances are he has backups of all Kai music since he composed everything, Toei may have fired him but I'm pretty sure someone as clever as Yamamoto managed to find ways to slip copies of his work out from under their noses, so if he really wanted to he could probably "leak" everything out onto the net for the fans that really want to complete their collection of the original Kai music (like a lot of us here).
dbboxkaifan wrote:He was only fired, not much of a punishment. :?
That's true being fired from Toei wasn't really a very effective punishement considering he found work pretty quick after he was fired.
dbboxkaifan wrote:Megaman and Monster Rancher BGMs in Kai could work, I think, I liked them on Ocean's version. Or a rushed BGM placements of Takaki's music.
It could work but Toei probably didn't think about that, they wanted rid of Yamamoto as quickly as possible and what did we get, a sloppy and limited placement of Kikuchi's music.

Wait, he got work right after being known as a plagiariser and fired? What's his job now?

The DVD version will eventually drop its price, I suppose they forgot people still use DVDs.

I buy Kai on BluRay, but in all reality, it's just a cartoon. It's not like you can suddenly see Goku's pores or facial hair or something. I wouldn't be upset if there was only a DVD. I can think of two possible reasons why it's more expensive: they're trying to really push the BluRay, or the DVDs don't sell as well and they didn't produce as many.

I'll be picking these up for sure. Probably the best english dub release we'll ever get.

Anyone know if there's a chance these will go OOP and become rare like the Dragon Boxes? I'm curious because it may be a few months before I start buying them.

If you want to get those that are OoP you should get the DBZ Kai Parts edition, those for sure are definitely going to become rare, well, Parts 1 to 4 are already.

These might stay available forever like the orange bricks.

I don't think parts 5-8 will be going anywhere anytime soon, also copies of Part 1 still seem to be pretty abundant (every time I go into an FYE I see at least 3 new copies of Part 1) so I wouldn't really worry about Part 1 right now, Parts 2-4 on the other hand yeah good luck trying to find those cheap and I wish those trying to get them brand new even more luck.

Maybe but I wouldn't take any chances on that if you see an OOP Kai set I'd go ahead and get it because you might have a hard time finding it again.

Once FUNimation releases all four seasons, the parts 5-8 will be discontinued.

These season sets are a 'compressed' version of the Parts 1-8 since they don't/won't have all the characters were included on the inside cover of the Kai Blu-rays / DVDs, not to forget P1-P4's have Yamamoto's music and these don't.

Season One 2011 does, but the newer copies, i.e, from this year were given the 'correct' music, aka, replacement soundtrack.

It's an inferior product, to me.

I'd be interested in double-dipping if the Season Sets are consistent. Meaning the already confirmed score and Episode 1 opening title, and for other errors to be fixed. Case in point:
1. Vegeta's "Darn!" at the beginning of Part 2.
2. Truck Driver's TV survival that made its way onto Part 5. "DUDE! MAH TRUCK!!"
3. Attack names stay the same. I don't care if they go with Japanese or English, just pick one. Solar Flare or Taiyoken? Kienzan or Destructo Disc? Pick one and go with it.

It's very unlikely FUNimation to redub the Kai dub, the Season sets basically use the same from the Parts, so pretty much the exact.

Except, all Season sets from 2012 feature the replacement soundtrack and no Dragon Ball Kai logo for Episode 01 any more, instead Dragon Ball Z Kai logo.

Have to say, been seeing Saiyan to Freeza Kai clips with the replacement soundtrack and in a way it disgusts me how repetitive it is. :?

And that repetition is the very reason I refuse to watch the Saiyan and Frieza arcs with the replacement score.

On Part One FUNimation had episode 01 with the Dragon Ball Kai logo, though, in these Season One 2011/2012 this has been fixed, I assume?

If Madman does get around to licensing the Season sets, I wouldn't mind picking them up.

I probably wouldn't watch them but they would be good for filling shelf space.
