It reminds me of this one time in Kindergarten when a kid dressed up as Vegeta, but hell, his Saiyan Armor part of the costume looked better than...that.

It's literally nothing but a black undershirt with cloth padding sewed on.

James Marsters Piccolo looks a lot better to be brutally honest, possibly one of the only redeeming qualities of Evolution.
Same here. There is a reason animation is often reimagined for the movies, because trying to bring stuff like anime into the live action realm "as is" doesn't work very often. Even though it's two different incarnations of Piccolo being compared here (Daimao vs. Junior), Marsters' version is still a pretty good example. If he had been that color of green (or a bit darker) in the movie, and possibly having actual antennae instead of those whatever they are against his skull, he'd have been perfect IMO.

As for Raditz... -_- I knew from the beginning I had no hope for this project, I'm glad they are proving me right.

Ouch. That armour hurts my hopes for this project.

That armo is so poorly done, I've seen pics of better cosplay. This looks like one of those cheap Vegeta costumes you find on ebay. I don't even like the hair on Raditz. Another thing turned me off on this, I think the actor for Vegeta is taller than Goku. I could be wrong,or thheyre going to edit it somehow to make Vegeta shorter. Also the fact they hired a dwarf to play Krillin. I understand Krillins short but I don't consider him a dwarf sized.

Now I'm glad it's just a trailer.

Now that armor just killed all my hopes I had for this thing. Lets just hope they have the best angles and lighting and best program for video editing haha. And that armor on deviant art is amazing. That's what I thought the armor would of looked like.

I'm going to cut them some slack because they have to spend money on a lot of things, and with a limited budget it's really tough to make Dragon Ball not look cheesy in real life. It's really hard to take stuff from graphic novels, comics, or manga and make it into a serious live action movie/trailer/clip/whatever because there is the element of...goofiness. Someone should tell them about the deviantart armor to help 'em out.

Having said that, the Saiyan (or really Freeza/King Cold) armor does look a bit anemic, and Piccolo might be a hard sell. My biggest gripe is the fact that some of their actors don't seem to fit physically. I expected some fairly tall actors for Tenshinhan and Piccolo, not guys that might be smaller than Yamcha (the latter is a good fit though).

If they borrow good dialogue from the English dub of Kai, without any comical accents for guys like Piccolo or Vegeta, they could do a decent job. And no over 9000 line, please...I think some interview asked that question...that meme needs to die

I just sent them the link to the 'Three Armors' picture.

For the record, that "some interview" mentioned above was the one on my blog (in my sig). You can read the response to the question near the bottom of the article.

Look, let's just face the facts. No online-donated budget is going to deliver the quality a Live-Action DragonBall deserves. These are clearly just a bunch of DSLR wanna-be filmmakers with no costume designer. I'm not trying to hate on this passion project because I'm all for it but there is literally no reason to believe that these filmmakers can do anything substantial in quality that also looks like Dragon Ball without a hell of an effects budget.

The technology to make a Dragon Ball film exists. It would also cost millions and millions of dollars. Dragon Ball as a property is not large enough to expect a #1 Box Office Weekend, thus there is no studio willing to pump out the money for it. Once the technology becomes more cost effective, and a production team gets behind the project early, then maybe we will see a full-fledged Dragon Ball Live Action film.

Personally, they should just make a feature-length(2 Hours) and newly animated Dragon Ball Z Animated Movie which covers the Saiyan Saga in a new way...sort of like how Path to Power knocked out 30 Dragon Ball episodes in an hour.

Okay, just read the interview mentioned above. These guys are using Canon MkII's without Cinema Lenses. This is essentially going to look like a student film. There is no way around it. This is what DSLR Cameras at afforable prices are doing to the film world. People like these two dimwits shoot weddings on them all day and night but there is literally no way this can look cinematic in any way without Canon CP Cinema lenses which they stated they wouldn't be using. If anyone is donating, I feel severely sorry for you. Dragon Ball live action simply is not an afforable project for independent filmmakers. Not even trailer form. I was semi-skeptical about this project but after reading their reasons for Dragon Ball: Evolution failing, I'll watch Cats explain the trailer in 5 seconds instead.

Dragon Ball: Evolution failed because it did not have any substantial Marketing in the US. The brand of Dragon Ball also has iconic imagery and the film lacked that as well.

These morons claimed DB:E lacked the "Action!". Unfortunately, $6000 and a bad interview does not qualify them to make any judgement. DB:E lacked characterization and story, covering its shortcomings with "Action!" such as a wonky lava battle.

I feel cynical not wishing these guys the best of luck but I'm in the business and the fact that they didn't even ONCE mention Cinema lenses (A MUST), it means that a lot of people gave $6000 to amateurs who have continued to excite people with the casting of unknown Asian actors/models. Not to mention this project is not legal based on the fact that they are using the property Dragon Ball to generate funding without any agreement with Toei.

I hope the best for them, but as it looks like, the Saiyan armour is a joke, their Piccolo is laughable, honestly, I liked Dragon Ball Evolution more than what I've seen from this "Dragon Ball Z Saiyan Saga".

For the money they got from the donations I expected much more than this.

By the way, on an "interview" video I noticed the guy talking had a British accent but he still pronounced the letter Z as Zii instead of Zed, probably because he's been watching and hearing the English dubs of DBZ for too long and now it feels "natural" for him.

He's doing that on purpose. We talked about the pronunciation of the Zee vs Zed thing, and also the names for techniques, like Keio Ken vs Kaio Ken. Since he's targeting Americans he's going to pronounce the name as Dragon Ball Zee, and because the project is for hardcore fans, he's going to pronounce Kaio Ken and the other techniques properly, rather than with the FUNimation mispronunciations.

Generally speaking, he wants it to appeal to the hardcore Dragon Ball fans as much as possible, and he doesn't want to do anything to frustrate or push them away. As they said, it's by fans, for fans.
