Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
Usually I was only collecting Dragon Ball/Z/GT on VHS. I'm thinking my first DVD (or set of DVDs) could have been Dragon Ball Z Season one.

It was the US single of Revenge of Cooler. That one with the US, JP and Latino sound track.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
It was one of these two:

The thing is, I'm not entirely convinced I know which one I got first. I very vividly remember picking up the uncut VHS versions of Dead Zone, and I very vividly remember receiving the Captain Ginyu - Assault DVD from RightStuf... but I'm not sure when I actually got the Dead Zone DVD. It came out years before the in-house FUNimation stuff, and I got a DVD player in between when the FUNimation/Pioneer movie releases came out and when the in-house stuff came out, so there was ample opportunity...
But I'm not sure. So, um, both?

Not sure if I remember. I think it was the History of Trunks but I'm pretty sure that was a VHS.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
Let that child alone! - It was the Big Green version of DBZ Movie 3: "Super Battle in the World".
But the first Dragon Ball DVD that I watched was my childhood best friend's copy of Movie 4 "Super Saiya Son Goku" which introduced me to the Big Green dub. I remember before I actually watched it with him we were having a conversation on the phone and he was watching it at the time, and when I heared Goku's voice in the background I seriously thought he was watching Superman.
I went and bought Movie 3 after that, and picked up Movie 2 & 4 a while later. Back then, we would just refer to it as "the version with funny voices".
Oh 2002, where did you go?

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
Mine was Season One of Dragon Ball. I found it lying on the middle shelf of the tiny anime section at Best Buy. As I recall, I wanted it "sooo bad" because I had just become a fan and wanted to start watching the series from the beginning; however, I skipped over a lot, and completed my collections of GT and Z before finally finishing my DB DVD collection.
So mondo lame.
Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
My first home video that I owned was this.

Picked it up at a local Blockbuster. I was probably 10 or 11 years old at the time. At the end you get that awesome Trunks sneak peak with that epic music. Dragon Ball Z was so mysterious to me in those days, and I can recall that "Enter Trunks" promo giving me goosebumps.
First "DVD" was orange brick season one.

^ Well I guess if we're talking about Blockbuster, I rented that same DVD from a local blockbuster at one point when I was a lot younger. I'm not certain what age I might have been. But yes, that would be my first Dragon Ball DVD.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
I'm fairly sure the answer is prominently unprecedented for British fans.

Initially recall it being received as a gift from the ol' folks and believe it became the casualty of a regrettable CeX trade-in. The dub was an unexpected yet welcomed and rather humorous (as popularly documented) surprise. In hindsight, I'm pretty stoked the original Japanese soundtrack & footage were in tact though.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
My first DVD was

way back in 2003, right after we got a DVD player. I had a few VHS before that, I specifically recall the Pioneer release of Movie 2 and Saiyans: Arrival from a pack-in my local Toys 'R' Us had with the first Budokai game. I no longer have these because I gave them off to Goodwill when I picked up the steelbooks.

My first Dragon Ball DVD was Cell Games - The Games Begin. I saw it in a Target store years ago, and I decided to pick it up. It was pretty awesome to have it because it was my first Dragon Ball DVD.
Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
Either "Cell games: Sacrifice", or the "first strike" boxset.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
Let's see...my first VHS (barring stuff I just taped right off of TV
) was either the edited release of Bardock: The Father of Goku, or the Great Saiyaman: Crash Course tape. I know I got them pretty close to each other, and I remember specifically passing up one of the Otherworld Tournament tapes to get the Crash Course one since it was further along in the series...but I can't remember the exact order here.
As for first DVD...uh...I'm honestly not completely sure here either. I want to say either the original single of Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, but it could have been the very last single, the last Kid Buu one (I forget its title), but I really can't remember.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
I got the first three DVDs to be released in the UK, ya know, the "Big Green dub" released by AB Groupe, I wanna say around 2004... Strongest Guy in the World, Super Battle in the World, and Super Saiya Son Goku (in the world)
And if you're wondering, yes, they are amazing, I highly recommend these babies.
I remember being pretty disappointed when I first got them though, it was Christmas... I was expecting the Ocean voices that I was so familiar with at the time, or at least the option to watch them in Japanese.
Then in 2007 I got the first Dragon Ball Z Season set, I was so excited, I saw though the flaws and loved the shit out of it, I stuck it in my DVD player and after hearing like 4 minutes of the English dialogue I started again in Japanese, again, disappointed at the lack of Ocean voices but I understood that Ocean didn't really dub that much of the Saiyan saga.
There's something about these DVDs, they're the first step to my Dragon Ball collection and as bad as they are I don't want to let go of them.

Re: What was your first Dragon Ball DVD?
Mine was this volume back in 2003. I got it for $17 at a used store but it was severly scratched and glitched so I returned it:

Though the next DVD which technically counts as my first since I still have it, is DBZ Orange Brick Season 2 (Madman version) from 2007. Back then I did know about the flaws but it wasn't much to bother me, especially since there were a lot of volumes and these were the only season sets back then.
Even though I did end up buying and selling all nine US sets when I got the Dragon Boxes, I still have that Madman set as well as seasons 1 and 3 which I also got the Madman set for before I imported the US sets.
