Let's stay with the excitement, now that we can. And let the time pass...
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

That's most likely never going to happen because Namdai's too cheap to hire Dimps to make a decent Dragon Ball game, and instead they're going for the cheaper devs, aka, Spike.

Expect to be disappointed.

Guess who made the new Saint Seiya game, published by Namco Bandai.

But that doesn't really mean that Spike can't try a game with that play style, just that they won't.

Seems like Namdai devalues the Dragon Ball franchise because apparently the fans are more than happy to have more blasted BT/RB games.

The vocal majority (of kids) prefered Budokai Tenkaichi over Budokai. That's what did it.

Dimps is to busy working on thousands of Sonic and Street Fighter games to do anything else.

Well, I'm told by reliable sources that the Dragon Ball fandom as a whole is viewed by other fighting games fans as "shit-eaters". Meaning, no matter what Namdai shits, the fans will still eat. I explained to him that that doesn't necessarily apply to this specific community, but we seem to be a minority. As long as these shitty games keep selling, they'll make them.

And honestly? Both Budokai and Sparking gameplays are poo. A good game would be Super DBZ with HD graphics, online play, faster moves and three or four more characters thrown in there. Super DBZ was a good game, but in my opinion it suffered because it was boring, slow and playing it felt like a chore. I did not enjoy the game myself, but I do acknowledge it as a step forward towards good gameplay for the franchise. Unfortunately the chances of us getting anything like that are close to nil.

In sum, we don't need five thousand different characters that feel like they play the same to eachother. We need less more distinct characters and a solid gameplay.

Sales figures say otherwise. Burst Limit is the highest selling DB game this generation.

He needs to get out of my head! It's times like this I wish I had a solid grounding on game development. You don't know how badly I just want to say fuck it and do it myself. This guy seems to be on the same page.

I know that as well. I also know that sales have consistently dropped from game to game ever since.

So where's my Burst Limit 2?

They don't wanna do it, and Spike games haven't done well at all. Where's my Super Dragon Ball Z 2?

It seems like they're afraid of trying ANYTHING new (and no, UT doesn't count at all) despite evidence of them needing to.

I'm the only one who wants to see SSj transformations for the other Saiya-jins. If they can make a SSj Bardock then why not have a SSj Radditz?

With there being characters we haven't gotten yet, I'd prefer to see those over the Super Saiyans for everyone tactic. I wasn't thrilled but I got why Broly and (especially) Vegeta got Super Saiyan 3's. I don't think Trunks needs one, and I don't want(or like) Raditz and Bardock having one. I'd prefer GT or even late Z versions of Goten and Trunks and even a what if adult Gotenks over Super Saiyan transformations for the early Saiyans.

I'm on board with not giving EVERYONE a Super Saiyan transformation. That just gets old. But if there's no Episode of Bardock in this game (aka Super Saiyan Bardock) I will be pissed to no end.

As far as characters like End of Z Trunks and Goten, the only way to do it is to include the GT ones and give them End of Z alternate costumes....which I would like....as long as we get an adult Gotenks to go with it(.....maybe a what-if of them ACTUALLY doing it to fight Yi Xing Long with Gogeta?)

People still want this? Aren't you guys bored of the story of Dragon Ball being retold at all?
Thing is though, Budokai 1 actually made you feel like you were watching the show, with recaps, title cards and next episode previews to boot.

It was essentially indeed the same story we have heard before but it was from a different viewing perspective.

If they could replicate this with the new Budokai Tenkaichi, it's a first day purchase for me.
Yeah, I have no problem with going through the story again, as long as it's done right.

So, if this is the case, I guess a Sparking HD Collection would be pretty practical. If there are new characters, I'm going to predict:
Kami
Mr. Popo
King Kai
Bulma
Adult Chichi
Shen
Yamu
Yakon
Puipui
Gt Vegeta
Kibito
Biomen
Bidu
Bujin
Kogu
Amond
Chilled
SSJ Bardock
SS3 Trunks
SS3 Gohan
