Peak of DragonBall popularity
I was just wondering if anyone knew the ratings for DragonBall / Z in both Japan and the US as well as during what arcs the series were most popular?
My guess, right after the Frieza saga.

I don't think we'll ever know about Japan. I mean, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are older than a decade. I doubt there are Internet sites with stats that old. But FUNImation.....hmmm....I don't know. I'd say the Majin Buu arc might have been the peak.masenko wrote:I was just wondering if anyone knew the ratings for DragonBall / Z in both Japan and the US as well as during what arcs the series were most popular?

But you've sparked an "I've heard the same" comment from me, though I too can't confirm my source...Duo wrote:I've been told it was the Android/Cell arc for both countries.
But I can't remember where I read this nor can I vouch for it in any way, shape, or from.
I've contributed nothing.

Probably because that was after the 3rd season, and as If I remember correctly, everyone I knew was in love with DBZ by then. As soon as they would here tom say new episode, they would all flock to the TV.Victator Supreme wrote:Wasn't the first Trunk's episode up to that point the highest rating in Cartoon Networks entire history?

Um, usually popularity of a TV show is measured by how many people watch it...aka Ratings.Super Sonic wrote:I don't know how it is with DB, but I know that sometimes peak of popularity doesn't equal highest ratings for some people.

Back in the early 1990s, DBZ was already immensely popular when I was a kid. I remember actually being introduced to the DBZ/DB trading cards since the first days of primary school. At the time, it was already some unstoppable craze with kids.
I would say the peak was during the Buu saga and the GT series considering that the ratings were the highest during these periods on TV.

Well I can't say for America, but in Australia I think the peak of DBZ was the Saiyaman saga up to english episode 222 Final Attonment, which was in around April 2002.
In Australia (not sure in america) they reached this episode then restarted the entire series from the beginning without any warning, leaving the entire viewing public lost and pissed off. They reached ep 223 a year later and by then everybody had lost interest and didn't bother checking for new episodes.
I thought the peak of DBZ in America was in 1999 because thats when a lot of forums like planet namek were active. Correct me if i'm wrong.
