"Dragon Ball Zenkai Battle (Royale)" Official Discussion Thread
Re: 'Dragonball: Zenkai Battle Royale' Discussion - [News-28
I do hope Goku and Vegeta can transform instead of being entirely separate characters. Probably too much to hope that for Trunks and Gohan as their corresponding base forms aren't in the game... unless they add them in with the update.

I take it that SSj Goku is going to be his own character
? It's going to be like the first Sparking game all over again.

Re: 'Dragonball: Zenkai Battle Royale' Discussion - [News-28
I don't see why it's a big deal if the characters can transform or not. As of right now, Goku and Vegeta are the only ones who would even be capable of doing so. As previously mentioned, Gohan doesn't have the correct base form in the game, and neither does Trunks. Zenkai uses the characters unique attributes, assuming they have any, as part of their moves, and base Trunks has some of his based around his sword, which the armored version doesn't seem to be equipped with (unlike in the Budokai games). So unless they include base forms for the new Trunks and Gohan, and SS for the old Trunks, they can work on the mechanic if/when they decide to port the game our of the arcades. But, for now, I don't see the issue.
Re: 'Dragonball: Zenkai Battle Royale' Discussion - [News-28
I can understand in Trunks' case, as he's actually a different character, but even then it wouldn't take much to let his current base transform and give the "fighting" Trunks a base form. Lack of transformations makes this game look rather boring at the moment, because although the characters have unique game play there isn't a lot of flavour.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't see why it's a big deal if the characters can transform or not. I don't really understand this. How is the game boring without transformations? They aren't necessary for the game to be exciting. The fact that the characters have such unique gameplay in a 4 man battle royal is what provides most of the flavor; Trunks actually using his sword, Freeza going all Call of Duty Sniper when using the Death Beam, Nappa acting like Snake by planting Saibaimen landmines, etc. A unique experience for each character in a fairly unique game.Saiga wrote:Lack of transformations makes this game look rather boring at the moment, because although the characters have unique game play there isn't a lot of flavour.
I mean, even a game like Ulitmate Blast/Tenkaichi has transformations, and that flavor is still "sour" no matter how you slice it.
Re: 'Dragonball: Zenkai Battle Royale' Discussion - [News-28
I'd rather play UT than this, so far. Sure the 4 on 4 battles look awesome, and it's cool that they all have unique gameplay, but that's pointless if there isn't anyone I want to play as and the fact that it's missing most of my favourites and the favourites it does have don't have their transformations available to them, makes this game look rather unappealing. I can understand about the missing characters, but the Super Saiyan transformations can't be difficult to add at all.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't really understand this. Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

You can discuss, get impressed, and see things of what looks like a fun game, but there is no need to get disappointed, or angry for things about the gameplay, since there is no reason to.Saiga wrote:By that logic why would anyone even follow this thread?

I'd rather be able to transform into SSJ Goku, so that I can use Kaioken and Instant Transmission Kamehameha by just selecting one character. Not, "Oh wait, I forgot I chose SSJ Goku, I can't use Kaioken".TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I don't see why it's a big deal if the characters can transform or not. This game looks more intended to be played with others, Online, LAN Party or whatever's in store.Saiga wrote:I'd rather play UT than this, so far. It's 4 Vs. 4? I thought it was 2 Vs. 4, anyway, 4 Vs. 4 is still a low amount of players. 6 Vs. 6 is what needs to be worked with.

Not 4v4, 1v1v1v1.
Anyway, that's just blasphemous to me. Super Saiyans are my favorite part about Dragon Ball, and I'd still rather play Zenkai over Ultimate Crapfest, even if they never added anything blond at all. But again, unless you plan on playing the game in Japanese arcades, I still don't see why is this even an issue. We have no idea what would be done when the game is ported. Like with Super DBZ, they could give us more characters, and in turn a transformation mechanic for filled in gaps.

Well, there is a Gundam Extreme VS on PS3, which has same playstyle as Zenkai Battle Royale and was ported from Arcade. I think it's only supports online multiplayer though (I can be wrong)...

I also can refer to Touhou Sky Arena, but that's another thing...
EDIT: It has offline 1vs1 Multiplayer

In game transformations make the game more fun to play. I can understand why the older games not having them due to their limits on how they can program the game. Not having in game transformations is one of the biggest complaint that people had with the first Sparking game since it feel pointless to make them their own character.

Transformations are neat and all, but I don't find them necessary to the gameplay. If two versions of the same character have different movesets and whatnot then even better for them not being transformations.
