Raditz knowing Goku was on Earth?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Raditz knowing Goku was on Earth?

Post by goku the krump dancer » Mon May 14, 2012 11:50 pm

How did he find this out? If he along with Vegeta and Nappa were off doing their own thing the moment planet Vegeta was destroyed, how could he have possibly found out that his brother was sent to Earth if 1. Freeza was oblivious and 2. the coordinators who sent Goku to Earth were destroyed along with planet Vegeta? The only logical thing that I can thing of was that it was mentioned just days before doomsday (around the time baby Broly and Paragus were sentenced to execution) and Raditz may have over heard it.

Just a quick question... Your thoughts?
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

Wow... never considered this. Maybe on Vegeta there's some sort of log that keeps track of what Saiyan's should be where. (Obviously there couldn't only be one log, because planet Vegeta blew up). Then, the 3 surviving Saiyan crew maybe seen the log in a computer system (I assume Frieza's) and then started the search from there. Just a thought. ORRRRR, Raditz had some info on Kakarot, and the scouter did the rest.

I always figured it wasn't unusual for Saiyans to know where their immediate family were sent.

If I remember correctly, Celipa/Fasha learned about Kakarot's existence just as he was born and asked him about it. They did have their scouters, so maybe they also shared basic information...

Then the guys in the landing area when Bardock arrive told him Kakarot had just left to Earth and that he could maybe visit him if he wants. That's from the Japanase script I believe. He didn't have his scouter on when he was coming back. I could bet the information was also shared to Goku's mother and Raditz through their scouters. Kind of like a facebook wall? lol

I always imagined that Raditz met Gokuu as a baby personally, which is how he knew what he looked like (in the first chapter of Z, when Raditz first mentions his Saiyan name, there's a little picture in the speech bubble of baby Gokuu), and found out that he was being sent to Earth from a doctor or something.

It was actually Toma that first brought it up, not Celipa, but your point is valid all the same. If you take the Bardock special as canon (as most do), then there seemed to be ample time in there for Raditz to have learned about where his brother was being sent off to, and the way he mentioned it in the Saiya-jin Saga, Raditz suddenly remembered his little brother's existence when he, Vegeta, and Nappa were working on that one planet for Freeza.

What I always found laughable is the inclination that Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta 'had trouble' taking over this planet and 'needed help from Kakarot'. I mean, nearly all the creatures in the universe able to give Vegeta a run for his money at that time were already in Freeza's army (Dodoria, Zarbon, Ginyu). I guess the planet could've had some random alien with power similar to Nail's, but I find that hard to believe.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.
Draws comics that may or may not have been blatantly inspired by Akira Toriyama's manga.

Wasn't it because Goku lookes exactly like their father ? I believe he even mentions that. Maybe he found out from their mother, assuming they have the same one.

Either Radditz remembered Goku personally and decided to act on his hunch independently, or Goku was still on file somewhere and Radditz remembered him while the group prepped for the trouble planet. I don't see the problem, particularly since Radditz phrased his arrival more to the first option.

But then this raises the question of how much conquering Dodoria and Zarbon did themselves; it's perfectly possible, but they're never really portrayed as anything more than enforcers.

My theory is that the inhabitants of the planet had some kind of special ability seperate from strength that the Saiyans couldn't overcome, like psychic powers or something.

I always thought Raditz specifically and personally remembered Gokuu from when he was a baby, judging by that picture of him in that speech bubble as he's saying, "Have you lost your pride? The pride of the Saiyans...Kakarrot?!"

I always thought that they'd have a few people that Vegeta would have to take on while they got Kakarrot, Nappa and Raditz to clean up the rest of the planet. With Kakarrot, the job becomes must faster to achieve.

I agree. I thought Vegeta and Co knew Goku's power level would be low before hand and they would have to put him in shape. Two or three missions to rough him up and make him familiar with their strategies. Then, they would just bring him along to handle the annoying low levels with Raditz, while Nappa and Vegeta dealt with the Elite ones.

Yeah, maybe that could work too.

I'm surprised nobody considered the possibility that there was a tracking device on Goku's ship...

As others have said, there could have been computer records that survived Vegeta's explosion. The records either contained information on Goku, or contained the coordinates for a ship that was launched right before the planet was destroyed. Either way, Raditz would still have to have some way of knowing that it was Goku specifically, so maybe I just defeated my own argument...

If I remember correctly, Frieza is surprised to see Gohan and knowing he has Saiyan blood. He wonders if it's Raditz' son or what not, meaning he had no idea there was an additional Saiyan off on another planet. So, that important information wouldn't have been on their records.

...From what I recall saiyans have an awesome memory. Maybe he was told his brother was going to Earth at the time and just remembered that information?
There is a flaw with him taking so long to pick up his brother, which is that IF Baby Goku HAD destroyed the Earth's surface then there would be nothing left for baby Goku to live on.

It wouldn't surprise me if Freeza didn't know their records as well as his subordinates though. Incidentally, there's a minor plothole here. When Freeza shares his foreboding feeling about Super Saiyans with Zarbon, Zarbon comments that the only Saiyans left are Vegeta, whatshisname, and the latter's son. I find it odd that Freeza would forget about Goku and Gohan during the final fight considering his fear of Saiyans.

Freeza obviously kept taps on Saiyans sent to other worlds, how else would know about Gohan? If he was keeping taps he would have known that Gohan had a high battle power for his age especially considering it was over 1000 when he fought Raditz.

Like the US government I think Freeza knew of every Saiyan in existence with some form of log system.

No he didn't. Outside of Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz, who were all under his "employ" at the time, he had no knowledge of there being another Saiya-jin alive. Until Gohan saved Piccolo from Freeza's 3rd transformed state, Freeza never made the connection that he was a Saiya-jin, and even then, he commented that he didn't know who the father could be since he had "destroyed" them all apart from Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz (believed there was some connection between he and Gohan since they looked a bit alike), but never assumed or knew that there was a fourth.
