Orange brick audio error?
On my season 5 set the (Japanese) opening is extreamly muffled on every episode on every disc. Its like someone is listening to it two rooms over. However it's not the case with my season 4 set.

Nor mine
I honestly don't know what it could be. before I started watching my DVD's on my Blu-ray player, I used to watch them on my Xbox. but never noticed any muffle noises.
Edit - I must have posted the same time you did
I thought you was maybe referring to Funimation and their US music. but I see you're speaking of the Japanese audio so when I get home tomorrow I will pop in my box 5 and check it for you. unless someone else does

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Ah yes. I remember that. If I remember correctly, that was also the case with the singles, whenever the Cell arc version of the CLHCL opening was used.eledoremassis02 wrote:On my season 5 set the opening is extreamly muffled on every episode on every disc. I think that the textless openings that FUNi has each come with their own audio track, with the Saiyan II/Freeza arc version having nice clear crisp audio, and the Cell arc one having audio that sounds like shit.
Here's what I think happened. Since the season four brick uses the Saiyan II/Freeza arc opening for its first 10 episodes, FUNi just copied and pasted the same audio and video files as is (the same way as with seasons 2 and 3, horribly out-of-sync and all) to each episode on that set, and simply swapped out the video file for the appropriate episodes. When it came to the season 5 set, however, they just used the audio track that the Cell arc opening came with.

I also popped in a Cell single dvd and it's no where near as bad as the Orange Brick...unless that was there way of "fixing it"?
Re: Orange brick audio error?
Sometimes if you play the japanese audio through VLC and mess with the audio options, you can make it sound a bit better, though not by much.

DBZ Remastered seasons 1-4 have a pretty clear MONO japanese op. DBZ Remastered seasons 5-6 have a very muffeld MONO op. I'm not sure about seasons 7-9 we gotta power op. but I do know all the Dragon boxs despite being Mono have a stereo sound like op. Hope I helpedeledoremassis02 wrote:On my season 5 set the opening is extreamly muffled on every episode on every disc. Its like someone is listening to it two rooms over. Interesting. I have an early printing of the "Freeza - Transformation" DVD, which mistakenly uses the Cell arc opening, and I'm pretty sure the audio quality was abysmal on it.eledoremassis02 wrote:I also popped in a Cell single dvd and it's no where near as bad as the Orange Brick...unless that was their way of "fixing it"?
I'll check it out. Hold on.
Update: Yes indeed, the quality is horrible compared to the audio of the Saiyan II/Freeza arc opening audio, but it's way worse on the season 5 set. I wonder what happened.

Speaking of audio error, did anyone notice that in one or two episodes when you're watching the Raditz vs Goku and Piccolo fight that the Japanese and English music play at the same time in one of the audio tracks?

That was one of the first things I noticed when I bought the set years ago, it's only on episode 4 for some reason. This only occurred on the Madman version whereas the US version was fine.Gonstead wrote:Speaking of audio error, did anyone notice that in one or two episodes when you're watching the Raditz vs Goku and Piccolo fight that the Japanese and English music play at the same time in one of the audio tracks?
