Out of all of this, the money thing is what is starting to bother me now. While I do feel this project is harmless in the gran scheme of things, I do agree with Pafupafu that they should be disclosing there expenses. Has anyone on here donated to these guys? If so, I'd like to know what they would say if you asked for a list of expenses. I'd like to see what they say or if they bother to show you proof. If you've donated money you have a right to see where that money goes and if they deny you any of that information then that is a huge problem.

Other then that, I've said my opinion on this movie. I understand we are treading new waters with IndieGoGo entering the mix and I will say the line is grey but ultimately I can see this being nothing more then a harmless fanfilm. I'd like to see how Fox reacts though, they are the ones with the movie rights. Funimation seems to be cool with these kinds of things going so far as to lend there voices to DBZ abridge and giving freddiew a tour of the studio after they did that weird over 9000 video for the fan who donated the most money towards their other (original) product. Toei seems like they would be the only ones to go after these guys but I doubt they even know this project exists.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

OK, two questions:
1) Where the hell is Chaozu? How will he look like? He was briefly shown in the animated trailer, and he was mentioned in the first video, but we saw photos of everyone else mentioned but him.
2) Shouldn't this topic be in Fan-Created Works?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Huh, no. They got an actor to play him.

20th Century Fox is who I think will eventually step in because they own the rights to Dragon Ball live action films. I remember them taking down a bunch of fake trailers for DB:E when it was first announced.

Then why haven't they taken action yet? The project has already been underway for a long time and they promote it so much its easy to find.
Jord doesn't have a avatar because the combination of Jord and a equally cool avatar would cause the universe to implode.

The possibility of it simply collapsing under its own weight and never having to take action in the first place, thus avoiding bad press and bringing more attention to it than it would have received in the first place? That's my guess.

Plus, as I mentioned in earlier posts, it would be intelligent from a business sense to let the project bloom into its most profitable state before taking action. K&K would essentially be digging an even deeper grave and doing even more work for an even bigger claim against them.

Lol, this is more exciting than the actual thing. I can't wait to see what will happen to them and see what they become of afterwards.

I could see them going after this movie full force back when Evolution was coming out; I don't think they would want that spotlight taken away from a new product. Now that it's been a few years and Fox has shown no signs of wanting to do a sequel or reboot of any sort it's hard to tell if they really care at this point. This trailer would have to makes a big splash for me to see Fox going after K&K; only because it would make Fox look incompetent. The sad fact is though if they do that then K&K essentially wins. K&K looks like these young ambitious kids who were able to pull more attention and support than a major studio with the same property. More then likely, sure, Fox would win in court but they will forever be known as the bad guys.

The best they could hope for is for this to either a) make a little splash that pleases only the small audience that exists on sites like this one; or b) for this to just fail and disappoint. It's the only way Fox could come out looking good without any harm. Chances are we'll see something along these lines. Ideally option "a" would be the best for everyone; K&k could earn some credibility and Fox could find a new motivation to make a better Dragonball movie in the future. Though sad to say it, option "b" might be in the works. Gauging some of the reactions so far, we might see a lot of fans with their hopes up. Plus it's been a little over a month with no update and that's a bit concerning.

I agree. This has been more fun then the updates themselves lol. Grab your popcorn and get ready, it can only get better from here.

Really? Fair enough they've made mistakes in this process, but wishing that companies go after them seems pretty low to me. This whole process doesn't affect you in any way.

Yeah I kind of fail to see the fun in this, rather boring if you ask me. This thread has basically turned into a giant rant over the film's legal issues. I am personally enjoying this fan project's process and updates. Not because it has the name "DragonBall Z" on it as some of you have stated, but because of the effort being put into this project.

I'm not wishing for Fox to go after them, I'm hoping for their success. However, this whole process is uncharted waters as far as I'm concerned; while I feel that most of what they are doing is harmless this whole thing with Kickstarter and IndiGoGo is kind of a new thing. And while people have made plenty of fan films before, this is the first time(at least for me) that a company has received money from fans to make one. I'm not sure anyone has tried to do what they are doing and in a lot of ways they are walking a grey line. Their success(or failure for that matter) could lead to a lot of interesting subjects for debate in terms of how we should handle things like this in the future. I mean, it's already starting here and now. What will become of K&K after this? Will this propel them into Hollywood? Could this inspire Fox to make another Dragonball movie? Will we see more fan films like this in the future? Will this get shot down before it even has a chance? Will it fail? I mean, there is a lot that can happen with this and it's exciting.

Wow! Gohan is actually looking pretty good.

Do we have pictures of Goku or Vegeta in full costume yet?

Gohan's pic is the best one yet. I kind of like the shorter hair approach. With the way Raditz's hair turned out, this is by far the better approach.

I have my doubts about this project turning out well but who knows, this may end up like the Mortal Kombat live action trailer that went viral back in 2010. That trailer apparently spawned the Mortal Kombat Legacy web series and now I hear a movie reboot is being made.

Although there's always the possibility that this ends up being a major flop and results in masses of people demanding their donations back.

Gohan looks nice at least.

If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand?
