Buu Saga redub

Post by Hades » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:00 am

Assuming that Funi decides to redub the Buu Saga to make up for its absence in Kai, which roles would you like to see recast?

I'd like to see what J Michael Tatum and/or Greg Ayres could do as Fat/Super Buu, since I feel they were the only roles that would need a change in VA.

To be honest? I'm perfectly fine with the Buu Saga actors that were chosen for their roles.

Of course Monica Rial would dub over Tiffany Volmer but apart from that, every thing else stays the same unless I'm missing anyone.

What about Videl? Gohan would be voiced likely by Kyle Herbert and I hope so since I liked the voice.

Personally, FUNi should've done this rather than giving Nicktoons GT straight away since clearly a few things would be missing. At the very least, the redubbed Buu saga should be a midquel.

Same

It seems like the dub got a little more accurate also.

Kara Edwards would stay as Videl and Goten.

x3

I don't see a redub for Boo's arc happening, but I surely wouldn't want Colleen to voice Goten, she already did her part with Gohan, and that's enough. Or Chris Ayres as Majin Boo, God please no!

Seems like fans out there hated Majin Boo's arc so it wouldn't be profitable for FUNimation to redub something which isn't appreciated by its fans.

Recast Goten to Clinkenbeard, and pretty much keep the rest. Voice direction would need to be tweaked.

I like the cast how it was really, I don't think anyone would need to be replaced. The Buu saga was right around were everyone was starting to get in their comfort zones with the character. Really all they would need to do is throw in the original music and maybe tweak a few things(it's been awhile but I think the dub was pretty accurate) and I think they'd be perfect.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Not that Colleen is bad or anything, but she'd probably make Goten sound very much alike her Gohan... Goten's Gohan?

There's a bit of difference in Colleen's Luffi to Gohan Pre-Adolescent, for the fans of Colleen Gohan this is optimum but for the others, may be the contrary.

Keeping everyone like Gonstead said would be ideal.

If they wind up re-dubbing the Buu saga, I really hope they change some dialogue choices. They destroyed Trunks' speech about surpassing his father during the Gotenks arc and they didn't even have Goku thank the Dragonballs before his final Genki Dama, which made the Buu's death more anti-climatic than the original.

It would be just like dubbing any other Anime they already have. Besides, tell that to the numerous rereleases of DBZ.

Redub the Buu arc of Z? Why bother, when so much the rest of the show is still dubbed terribly?

They really have no reason to do a redub... It'd probably be a waste of money for them.
I have a Dragon Ball collection of sorts which can be seen here.

If Funimation is thinking about reducing the Buu arc, they might as well redub the whole series. Otherwise, waste of time and money.

A new dub with the same voice actors, but more like Kai, that would be something worth making for fans of the english version who actually prefer it that way. It's kind of ridiculous that they didn't do the Boo saga as a part of Kai, but I do understand why they chose not to.

Since the Boo saga didn't get the Kai treatment, there's really no reason to re-dub it.

No it wouldn't be like dubbing any other anime (besides you don't capitalize "Anime) because other anime that hasn't gotten dubbed yet will lose potentional buyers since you know, it would be only available in Japanese with subs. And you see, they're already spent so much time and money on DBZ. Why would they bother spending more time and money? And lastly, wow can you tell something to re-releases?
