Thoughts on a Marvel Vs. Capcom Vs. Dragon Ball game.

Post by Insertclevername » Fri May 25, 2012 11:26 pm

Now to set the record straight, I'm not much of a Street Fighter fan, I find them fun but I'm not familiar with the games as some of its core fan base are. However, after seeing so many cross overs that Capcom has been making, like the Tekken and X men games, do you think that the Dragon Ball franchise would work well in a Street Fighter game? With a small yet diverse roster and in depth controls and combo systems (like Alpha's A-isms and X-isms etc.) Do you think it will help our franchise in terms of quality, popularity, or respect? (If you even care).

*Edit* I changed my mind and now think the MvC series would fit better than Street Fighter series. So I pretty much have the same opinion as before, but it now applies to the MvC series.

Also, it would be fun if anyone would like to post a roster of the Dragon Ball fighters and maybe even go a little in dept with their move and such.

It'll be a great game, but Cashcom will charge you $20 for 12 characters that are already on the disc.

No because the obvious humungous power gap between SF and DBZ wouldn't allow me to take the game seriously.

Buts its just a video game... I mean, for the sake of fun, why would it even matter? I'm sure most DC characters could obliterate Mortal Kombat characters but there was a game where they fought each other.

The same reason why I didn't like that game.

What if it's just Dragonball (not Z/GT)?

More believable, yeah.

These crossovers have been a mess and the companies also been abusing of the DLC.. Disc Locked Content than Downloadable Content.

DB x SF could be a decent beat em up game, but I'd prefer Burst Limit 2.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

As much as I dislike Capcom as a company these days, they still make good games. There hasn't been, in my opinion, a decent Dragon Ball game since Burst Limit. A crossover like this would be a way to guarantee a way that we actually got a well made Dragon Ball fighter.

Still, I bet they would lock out Super Saiyan Goku or something. Silly Capcom.

Rename this thread to MvC vs DB and it's spot on. Marvel vs has certain mechanics and definitely enough flash to be suitable for a DB game, with all their air combos and the like. SF on the other hand hasn't much in common.

Ok sure, its makes more sense to blend it with MvC than just SF. :)

I don't see a crossover with Marvel or any big comic book companies like DC comics happening. From what I've been told that DC and Marvel are really not that big in Japan. Some of Marvel's superheros like Spider-Man are very popular in Japan while most of them are not from what I've seen.

What about the Marvel movies and the Marvel animes? How did those do? Its not like the game needs to have tons of characters.

Spiderman
Iron Man
Hulk
Captain America
Thor
Black Widow
Hawk Eye
Cyclops
Storm
Beast
Emma Frost
Armor
Wolverine
Kikyo Mikage
Yukio
Blade
Makato

Thats 17 characters with just some main good guys (and Kikyo) from the movies and anime. You could easily get more characters from the movies and anime but with just them and adding in a equal number of DBZ characters you have 34 characters which is a lot for new game series. And if they aren't popular in Japan theres still the rest of the world. It may not be super popular anymore but I think a Marvel vs DBZ game would do well in N. America and Europe.

But hasn't the Marvel vs Capcom series done pretty well in Japan?

I don't know about the Marvel animated films but I was told that MVC3 is more popular in the US then it is in Japan. It did seem like both Thor and Captain America didn't do that great neither since both of them only made it to number five on the box office charts on their first week.

The first two Iron Man movies seem to do pretty well though. The Avengers is not even out in Japan yet, so who knows how well it will do.

They worry more about recouping their costs than toping the box office lists until award ceremony or dvd commercial come around of course.

Thor and Captain America had both done well looking at how much money they grossed(which is the real factor not the top 5 (insert here) placings). Thor has a sequel in the works and writing for another Captain America movie has been underway since 2011 with filming starting after they finish with Thor 2. Of course there is a Iron Man 3 coming out as well as a Avengers 2.

I'd prefer if it were just a Shonan Jump game (like Jump Super/Ultimate Stars) but plays similar to MVC or TVC.

If they made a game like that would you guys prefer it to just be a bunch of characters from a couple series like DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece or just have a few characters from each of those and a bunch of other series?

I'd love a game with just Dragonball, One Piece, Naruto and Bleach (so we could have a good selection from the bunch but I think a few characters from each jump series would be better to keep things diverse.

Also I think I'd prefer the TVC system over the MVC system. 2vs2 is a bit easier to deal with and we could get some interesting Tag attacks. I also like Boroque and Megacrash over Xfactor.
