Who saw DBE in Theaters?

Post by Hellspawn28 » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:16 pm

I was not sure if this thread already been made but who saw Dragon Ball Evolution in theaters when it was released in 2009? I saw it with my little sister on the first week on a Friday night at AMC Towson Commons 8 (Now closed  ) in Towson, MD. It was playing in a small theater and we where the only people in theater along with three other people. I remember one guy was like "I already saw the movie like three times already on the Internet!". We both had a good time since we laugh on how cheesy the movie was.

Nope and I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.

I knew the movie was going to suck, so I wasn't piss off like I was when I saw The Spirit or Vantage Point in theaters. Besides, I sat through movies a lot worst in theaters like Battlefield Earth for example.

I saw it at my sister's place, with her boyfriend and another mutual friend. Much better atmosphere than a cinema. You don't get kicked out for MSTing the film, so we got exactly what we wanted out of it. =D

Me and some friends saw a Midnight Thursday showing, as we couldn't go during the weekend due to anime convention. Had it kept with the Wednesday premiere, Thursday night would've had guys in costume there, myself included.

I kinda regret not going to see it. Though I rarely go to the cinema, last time I went was Howl's Moving Castle and Cloverfield... I'm definitely gonna see the Hobbit.

I saw it in thearters with my girlfriend for our two year anniversary. We knew it was going to be bad so we weren't going in expecting much. We ended up having a BLAST...though I don't think it was in the way Fox intended.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

Simmilar situation here. I went to it with a group of friends, and it was a blast because we just heckled the movie from start to finish. The best part was that nobody in the theater minded, and more of them started joining in on the heckling as time went on.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I saw it at the cinema and dragged my friend along. He's an anime fan, and knows a decent bit about Dragon Ball, but isn't specifically a Dragon Ball fan or anything. To be honest, I didn't even find the film fun in a riffably bad way--it was just bad bad to me. But I had fun watching my friend get all angry about how bad it was, which was the whole point of bringing him along!

Don't look at me like I'm a sadist. He gets into a rage over everything.

I meant to go see it, as for some reason I thought there would be something, somewhere, MAYBE worth seeing in the film (other than the riff value), but I ended up not getting to. I did see a poster for it when me and my girlfriend went to see something else though, and after we got out of the theater and were waiting around, we saw two other guys looking at the poster.

'Whoa, they're doing a Dragon Ball movie! Sweet!'
'Hell yeah! ...Wait...Goku looks kinda weird...'
'Yeah, so does Bulma. And...is...that Frieza? *points to Piccolo at the bottom of the poster*'

I LOL'd. I LOL'd so hard.

I remember the theater had the movie listed down as "Dragon Ball Z" outside the building. They would have the movie titles that where playing and I always found it funny that it was listed down as "Dragon Ball Z" then "Dragon Ball Evolution" .

Thankfully no, I didn't waste my money on that steaming pile of garbage.
I did however watch it online; not one soul should pay to see that movie.

I saw it more than once in the theaters, but I'm not someone who thinks the movie was some spawn of Satan worthy of having every copy in existence nuked from orbit.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Yeah I'm not the person who really hates DBE and wants every copy of DBE to be burn in hell. I personally watch 24 hour marathon of DBE over something like Battlefield Earth or The Lizzie Mcquire Movie (Which both where hard to sit through in theaters. I can't believe I drag to see those two films!).

I went with my boyfriend to see it on Saturday afternoon of opening weekend. Including us, there were probably less than 10 people in the theater.

The movie wasn't even funny bad, and had no positive traits whatsoever. It just felt like James Wong was punching my soul for 90 minutes.

I had low expectations anyway, but I still had to see it for myself, so I don't regret going. It would've been nice if it was a better movie, though.

Nope, stayed at home and sat through DBZ Movie 13 instead. Best decision ever!

I watched it with my younger brothers, it was actually quite hilariously bad, I actually remember people laughing in the cinema and when the credits started rolling some guy shouted SHIT! I'm dead serous.

I was planning to go, but it never came to theaters in the place I live, and it came into DVD/Blu-ray way later. So, I chose the "other" way.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
