If SSJ4 was actually what Goku looked like when he first fought Freeza, (red/brown), it would have had a bigger impact. There would be no question what transformed into, and he would be more terrified of Goku given his appearance.

Meh, I hate the red fur. It has no connection to the Oozaru or Super Saiyan forms. At least the blonde hair for the Super Saiyan forms looks good.

I personally thought the SSJ4 form looked good, after SSJ3 it would of been hard to make a gold form look good. It kind of started(?) looking ridiculous after SSJ3. But, I can see where you're going with the lack of connections to previous forms; however, I still liked SSJ4, it was hard to be original after 3 gold forms and to relate to the Oozaru is tough. At least SSJ4 tried to related the simian/monkey aspect to it. Of course you are entitled to your opinion. But, I figured I'd include mine.

Started after SS3? there is no other golden form past SS3 so how would it start look ridiculous after that if there isn't a golden form past that

I agree about the SS hair, but I also think the red fur looks good and has more of a connection to the Oozaru fur than you are giving it credit for. Going with a Japanesey-Toriyama style answer, "Both forms have the same fur! To help contrast the Oozaru's subdued colors, Super Saiyan 4 fur loses some of its green pigment and becomes red to fit the transformations wilder and exciting image! Perhaps this is a side-effect of combining Super Saiyan and Oozaru in a new body?!".

Was that really his explanation? Surprisingly it adds up.

I'm not sure that really makes a difference to me. I don't think the blonde color needs to be represented anyway, SS4 is already humanoid and super powerful like the other SS stages. I've seen plenty of fan art of SS4 (or SS5 for Vegeta, which is practically the same thing) with alternate colors: brown fur, blonde hair, blonde fur, etc. and it either makes them look like a bigfoot or just plain hideous. Red is not that far from brown, which is dull anyway. All it takes is a little bit of black (or brown in Vegeta's case most of the time) to turn red into brown, and both colors are present on the SS4 design. Part of the pigment went to the head hair and the rest was left in the fur on the body. =P That is more than close enough to me. The designs traits don't have to be taken exactly from previous forms. It's the little bit of deviation that makes it fun IMO.

No. xD I'm making shit up for the sake of my argument, as a color preference debate like this isn't something that can really be based on facts, it's purely opinion; either you like it or you don't. lol

Seeing how I'm doing a fan rewrite of the series, I am happy that you thought it could have been from Toriyama though. Helps to make the material feel authentic. =P

Something silly to me? Pretty much any physical comedy gag and whatnot that requires the characters to not use their powers of super-speed, flight, and superhuman strength (Whenever I think about this, the 1st scene to always come to mind is one where Pan chases Giru back and forth across the screen). I guess this is to be expected.

wow geez I didn't know the color of the fur was such a big deal, if SS4 spawns random new clothes I don't think changing the fur color is a big deal, it definitely looks like there is more energy coursing through it than if it were brown.

When I rewatched GT I literally yelled at the screen "You can fly... you can fly... You can fucking fly!" I understand it was for the gags but there was some parts I just found it irritating. Like when Trunks' space ship was taken away, they could've have easily just fly after the guys and get it back but nooooo, they stand as if it was on another planet and out of reach.

Oh god, I know that feeling. It was so frustrating when they didn't use flight, or got injured by extremely minor things, or struggled in situations when they could have just beaten the shit out of everybody, etc...

Nah, even Toriyama liked it. It's one of GT's better ideas, though one of the worst handled in execution...part of which stems for GT's horrible power scaling.

I don't see how it's such a good idea. Physically turning him into a child doesn't magically make it turn back into the original Dragon Ball, which is apparently what they were aiming for.

But, actually nerfing Goku in a more appropriate way would have made the series more interesting to watch, making Goku try to overcome his new limitations and also defeat the bad guys in a more logical way than GT's actual "WTF! Turning Goku into a kid was well played and an interesting twist, bringing out an old forgotten Dragon Ball character to make it happen in a believable way, even if the Black Star Dragon Balls were pretty random. Its one of GT's better ideas, even if it was to accomplish something impossible.
