Dragon Ball manga re-released on Brazil

Post by Wobbuffet » Thu May 31, 2012 9:14 pm

First of all, sorry my bad English.

Dragon Ball was first published in Brazil form December 2000 to October 2003 by Editora Conrad. It was one of the first manga series to be published in black-and-white and from right to left. Like many manga series from that time, it was published in a format called "meio-tanko" ("half-a-tanko"). In case you are wondering, they looked like this.
Editora Conrad also published the kanzenban version, but stopped after volume 16. The publisher was going through some problems that led to the cancelation of lots of manga series.

Now Panini Comics is publishing the tankoubon again. Most subscribers already got the first issue, but as of May 31 it still didn't reach some stores.

I just wanted to share this information. ;)

It's kind of hard to tell, but it looks to me like the sound effects are written next to the Japanese ones, not as a replacement. Is that the case?

Yes, this is the common pratice here. The Japanese sound effects are left intact and a Portuguese equivalent is written next to it.

Better than what Viz does.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Honestly, I prefer Viz's way of handling that.

You got way too off-topic, since those hands are not mine.
