Dragonball? You mean the series that's about how much Goku is better than the humans, right?
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

No, it was Vegeta who mentioned it. JP line went: "Kakarrot, bring on your Super Saiyan 4, or 5 or whatever. I'm not done yet!"

It's actually a smart move , not to overuse the MC. And besides, aside from the first half of the Freeza saga and Cell saga and the beginning of the Buu saga, he has always been around.
Yeah, suppose so. Sucks, to be honest. Not that I don't like Gokuu, but I dislike how everyone seems to bang on about him when he's not even there and the whole situation just hinges on him. Like after he got beaten up by Ginyuu and was in the healing tank while everyone else were fighting Freeza, and then Gokuu comes back with some fucking uber-Zenkai and is shoved to the forefront again.
While I agree with the idea in general, I prefer Goku as the main character, mostly because I don't see any of the others fitting that role as well as he does. The passing of the torch trope is nice and all, but only so long it's to someone that I find as entertaining as the first one.
Yeah, not saying that I don't prefer Gokuu as the main character. Just that I wish everything didn't always hinge on him, and that the characters would have more of a backbone and confidence in themselves rather than Gokuu. I mean, even Piccolo in the Saiyan arc, who was still in his bad guy/antihero phase at this point, was just as ecstatic as Gohan when he sensed Gokuu was approaching, and they didn't even know how he compared to Vegeta or if they'd survive long enough to see him.

But I honestly would've preferred Gohan to have become the main character in the Boo arc, because that Great Saiyaman portion was excellent. I wish Gokuu would've just stayed dead so he could pass the torch to the next generation, since the story had been building up to that and he actually wanted to, like Kame-sennin. But Toriyama treated Gohan so poorly in the Boo arc, with Goten and Trunks being not far behind. I mean, at the end of the Cell arc, Gokuu did pass the torch to Gohan, but then in the Boo arc, he took it back and gave it to Goten and Trunks, and then he took it back from them too. And then he probably gave it to Oob later as well.

And the Earthlings...pfft. Ever since they were practically non-existent in the Freeza arc (except for Kuririn, but then he got shafted in the Cell arc too), they could never hope to catch up to the others.
