Questions Regarding FUNi's Movie 4 Pack and Old DB Singles

Post by kei17 » Sun Jun 17, 2012 11:10 am

After finishing ripping all the unreleased pieces of music composed for DBZ, I am now planning to rip the ones from the original Dragon Ball series. I once heard that FUNi's old singles had some unreleased pieces of Kikuchi's music on their menu screens. Is it true? Also, I wonder whether DB movie 2 and 3 on complete collection movie 4 pack have got a proper 5.1ch mix. I've got the old 3 movies box, but it's got false 5.1ch tracks that have the same sound in all channels, so it's completely useless. I know they didn't redub anything except for movie 1 for the movie 4 pack, but I want to know whether the 5.1ch tracks of movie 2 and 3 got properly remixed or not. Can someone help me? Some audio clips in ac3 would be much appreciated.

I know movies english dub for 1,3,4 have 5.1 but movie 2 sounds muffeled as hell.

IIRC, the English audio on old releases doesn't sound muffled, so perhaps they newly remixed it. It would be nice if it's got a proper 5.1ch mix that I can remove voices and sound effects. Can someone upload an ac3 clip?

I have it, but I wouldn't know how to go about this. Is there a program I use?

Well... I've just checked it by myself and movie 2 of the recent DB 4 movie pack has the same sounds (voice, music, effects) in all 6 channels of the 5.1 track... it's a shame...

But... Movies 1 and 3 have the same sound scheme that DBZ 5.1: voice only in center channel and music + sound effects spread all over the other channels! (with some voice echoes here and there) And they have excellent sound quality, btw

I haven't checked the 10th anniversary movie because there is already a full BGM album released and I'm assuming there is no need of extract anything from that disc.

Hope you find the info useful ;)

That's quite dissapointing. Many pieces from movie 2 never played on TV episodes, so now it's impossible to rip them.

I love the score from movie 3, so that's really good to hear. Thank you so much for the info.

Well, does anybody still have the old singles? I'm curious about music plays on the menu screens.

I have the "singles" for the TV episodes, but not the movies. Which were you asking about?

I meant the TV episodes. I forgot whether it was FUNi's or Madman's.

That means we'll never get the instrumental version of the song that plays when Piccolo dies for Gohan, Freeza kills Vegeta, and when King Chappa is introduced. This is sad for me because I always thought the chorus ruined the song.

I can't seem to find them with DVD Decryptor... Though, there do appear to be unreleased songs (from what I remember...though I could be wrong). If I can figure out how to rip them, I'll let you be judge as to whether or not they are unreleased songs.

If you're having trouble finding the VOB that has the menu's/Music try making a full 1:1 iso using DVD Decryptor and then mount the decrypted ISO and from inside the mounted image open each VOB with VLC media player and eventually you should be able to find the right VOB (all data for the menus/music should be in the same VOB).
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

I bought those funimation packs a few years ago (episodes 14-153, the first pack was edited and I didn't buy it...). Then the series got a decent release in my country and I sold them. But I knew there was unreleased music in the menus, so... I ripped all the menus

I guess ripping unreleased music from a DVD menu is allowed here! :?
The whole thing is around 220MB (VOB files in rar file) I'm trying to upload at 4shared but the upload process always stop at 99%...

Thanks for the info. Can you try ripping them with DVD Shrink?

You're so awesome. Now I can listen to the most bone-chilling bgm in Dragon Ball at my leisure.

Do you still need me to? I mean, if biohazard has them already, then no need, right? :)

I thought about that, but ugh... Sounds like too much effort if there might be an easier way. Thought I'd ask first. XD
