Role Playing: Dragonball as One Piece!

Post by Chaos Saiyajin » Wed Jan 25, 2006 10:53 pm

:P Heya all! I was sitting at my desk at school today, bored as hell when I thought of something. If the DBZ characters took the roles of those in One Piece, who'd be who? So far I've gotten this below:

Round One-The Straw Hat Pirates
Monkey D. Luffy-Son Goku (Appetites people, appetites. :P )
Roronoa Zoro-??? (I've been thinking Piccolo, but I really don't know...)
Nami-Bulma (Definatley. Navigator=Dragonball Hunter.)
Usopp-Oolong or Krillin? (I really dunno, though both of these characters could be Usopp relatively easily.)
Sanji-Yamcha? (Well, Bulma's Nami so... :) )
Tony Tony Chopper-Puar? (...)
Nico Robin/Ms. All-Sunday: ??? (Maybe Chi-Chi?)

I know Vivi's not one of the Straw Hat Pirates, but oh what the hell?
Princess Vivi-??? (Well, Chi-Chi's a princess, considering Gyu Mao's a king...)

Opinions and thoughts? Next time we'll do the Marines.
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

I say Vegeta should be Zoro. (Anger people, anger) I think Usopp should be played by Oolong. (Krillin has no nose!) So these are the DBZ people who can play in the Straw Hat Pirates.

Roronoa Zoro-??? (I've been thinking Piccolo, but I really don't know...)
Mirai Trunks! Seriously, he's got the sword already (well, one of them).
Usopp-Oolong or Krillin? (I really dunno, though both of these characters could be Usopp relatively easily.)
Have to go with personality here, and Oolong's the closest. He's pure chicken, though, while even Usopp has his moments. But, it's the closest. Well, no, there is one other that could work, personality wise, and that's Hercule! You know... that would be funny.....

As for the rest, ya, they're pretty good. I especially like Bulma as Nami and Puar as Chopper.

Disagree, disagree.... Kuririn would be better as Usopp. Both are usually the unlucky losers who get beat up, but they're both brave and kind-hearted. Oolong yes is a coward too, but he always remains that way, even if the situation is dire. Usopp and Kuririn are there when it counts even if they're afraid. #18 should be Nico Robin by the way.

I don't know why people always think Zorro and Vegeta are alike. I've never found Zorro to be an angry and prideful person. I feel Piccolo is more suited. Both are tough and taciturn, but reasonable. Vegeta I think seems more like Sanji to me, other than the girl-craziness. Sanji has more of that "I'm-a-proud-tough-guy" attitude that's similar to Vegeta. Plus Zorro and Sanji tend to butt heads, which is also what Piccolo and Vegeta have done.

YAY! Once Piece! :D
*cough* Excuse me. I love One Piece.

I agree with Jerseymilk about Zoro being more like Piccolo than Vegeta. In my eyes both Zoro and Piccolo actually cared about their friends, a trait Vegeta lacks (Piccolo wanting to stop Gohan from fighting Cell, Zoro wanting to dive in to save Luffy despite the fact he had just had a tough fight and was still suffering from the wound Mihawk gave him).

As for Sanji as Vegeta, well, when I think of Sanji, the first thing that comes to my mind is the fact he's a skirt chaser, so I view him more as a young version of Roshi. Granted I never really considered Sanji having some Vegeta elements in his character. Perhaps Sanji would be best described as a fusion of a younger version of Roshi and Vegeta.

On the "fusion" idea, there times when I'd view Luffy as possibly having elements from both Goku and Gohan. In my eyes Luffy has a similar IQ level as Goku both in and out of battle, the limited interest in training that Gohan had (only do enough then get on with life), the desire for food that they both share. As for battle I might go so far as to sway slightly more towards Gohan than Goku. While the strength for both Goku and Gohan was driven by their desire to save their friends, I do feel it was something Gohan "relied" more on than Goku. After all, it was this reason that Gohan first transformed into a Super Saiyan. On a similar note, often Luffy displays the tendency to want to protect his friends. Take the Arlong arc for example. Luffy was driven to fight and beat Arlong after witnessing Nami stab herself in her arm due to the way Arlong betrayed her (Luffy never actually learnt Nami’s past). And at the end f the fight, Luffy gained a boost when he landed in Nami's room at Arlong Park and could see and sense the amount of pain she must have suffered in that room. Course the “jury is still out” on that one.

On an interesting side note, you could also view Shanks as being Goku like (willing to sacrifice something for another - Goku sacrificed his life twice and Shanks sacrificed his left arm). Also Luffy looks up to Shanks, perhaps even as a possible father like figure and/or those two having a father/son like relationship (that’s how I view it anyway). And Gohan always looked up to his father. Also Mihawk could be considered to be like late DBZ Vegeta. Why those two? Well...

Shanks and Mihawk are friendly rivals as back when Shanks used to have his left arm, he could match Mihawk in battle (or something along those lines. I haven't actually read the chapter this is revealed in, only the fact those two were rivals).

:P Thanks for the feedback everyone! So we've got some of the straw hat pirates done (Goku as Luffy, Piccolo as Zoro, Bulma as Nami) but we're still confused as Sanji, Tony Tony Chopper, Nico Robin, and Usopp. Who do you think would be the best for these characters?

Sanji: I think I'll go with Yamcha on this one, even though he's not much of a skirt chaser; he still always leaves Bulma for other girls in the anime atleast...

Tony Tony Chopper: I was all to go with Puar, but now I'm considering someone like Krillin if Oolong gets Usopp...

Nico Robin: #18, 'nuff said.

Usopp: I'm thinking either Krillin or Oolong

And what about Vivi people? :P

Ussop is like Kururin/Krillin. They're both close friends of the hero and while they may be weak and coward like, when they have to fight, they fight. See his fights in the Arlong arc and Arabasta arc.

The one where Luffy goes SSj3? Yeah it's great. It's from a site that has a few more One Piece images drawn to mimic Akira's style, as well as a few others like Pikachu dressed as Eneru/Enel.

Chopper = Mr. Buu. Plus it'd be hilarious to see him dressed like that. :P

I say we get Upa for Chopper.
