$40 is the usual MSRP.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

Thank God for this. I'd probably still get it even if it was the Tenkaichi series, but I love this to death.

How much do HD collections usually cost? I may invest in this.

I'd guess $40, more or less.

Good news although the fighting system of the 1st budokai is pretty poor compared to the sequels. Hope they tweak it a bit.

If they were smart they would have done this from the start of the current gen consoles. Have a new DBZ game one year then release a HD classic the following year which would give the real development team 2 years to make a sequel. I'm sure if they did it this way we wouldn't have been getting poor quality games every year.

But anyway I'm real happy they are releasing the Budokai games in HD, especially Budokai 1. Hopefully they leave music and dialogue untouched and don't spoil it by adding any stupid gimmicks.

If they were to tweak it, then it wouldn't be the game from years ago, which is the objective of these HD Collections, bring back the same game but remastered in HD.

Music was composed by Kenji Yamamoto, so it'll probably be replaced.

Budokai HD Collection? Yes please. I will finally play the Budokai games. I've played Shin Budokai 1 & 2, Burst Limit and Infinite World, but never had the chance to try the original 3 games.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

If that's true then I won't buy it, especially if the replacement music is anything like the garbage they've had in recent games.

If Namco Bandai gave the custom soundtrack option on RB2/UT games on PS3 then I suppose they'll do the same for HD Budokai Collection.

Playing RB2 with DBZ's Original Music is awesome and makes the game actually damn good to play!

The power of the music. :P

Note: On Xbox 360 you can load the music any time you want, you don't need to worry if the devs enabled or not the custom soundtrack feature.

That's also extremely important, because I always play my own music when I fight. Mostly DBZGT's original score.
If that's not enabled, then good night.

This is Yamamoto's work and since everyone is aware of what happened to Raging Blast 2, plus Dragon Ball Kai, this Budokai HD Collection will possibly have replacement music.

Dragon Ball Z For Kinect has Ultimate Tenkaichi's International soundtrack, so it's a possibility these will have it too.

The Yamamoto scandal, Samurai.

I'm still a little annoyed with the removal of the original music from Raging Blast 2 and Dragon Ball Kai, but having the option of playing my favourite BGMs in RB2 with custom soundtrack, that's fixed, though for Kai, I have to watch the rips I've made (custom rips actually).

Not because I love to pirate series/films or anything but because my Dragon Ball Z Kai Blu-ray Parts 5-8 don't have Yamamoto's score.

Recently I changed RB2 from English to Japanese, dunno why but I prefer Japanese again for all Dragon Ball games, guess it's how I like it more and been watching the series in Japanese, so one more reason.

Oh fuck, I forgot that the Budokai games used Yamamoto. I hope the replacement music isn't bad. I'll still probably keep my original copies just for the original music.

So will I. I just hope they don't replace the soundtrack for Budokai 3 :(

Well, "Budokai HD Collection" doesn't really narrow it down at all. It can be JUST the Budokais, it can have Infinite World since it was basically a Budokai game, and it can even have the Sparking games since they were renamed Budokai Tenkaichi here.

I guess it does narrow it down to no Super Dragon Ball Z :(

As far as the score, I doubt they'll touch it. It's been out for ages. Namco Bandai knows that taking out will only hurt and just isn't worth the work when it's been done for years.

I do hope they separate the Budokais and Sparkings, though. No way I'm playing those without the Kikuchi score anymore.

Interesting. I hope these hit the States with the original Japanese performances, as Wakamoto's Cell was still quite awesome ten years ago.

It's not like the majority of the fans of the games even remember what soundtrack it originally had, so they can replace, plus Toei Animation probably wants a change on it, so it's likely to happen.

Well....I kinda agree with you here but then again I don't  I think a-lot fans like me will notice the difference. because the music is what made a-lot of those games great. Take Resident Evil 4 for example. The GameCube version had all the Music in certain scenes but when they ported it over to HD on the 360 a-lot of music was taken out of certain scenes that I noticed and that aggravated me :?

Edit - sorry I thought I added the rest of my sentence. Well I just hope you're wrong dbboxkaifan. :)

Well, as long as they have the option to play custom music, for PS3 that is, I'm okay with the removal of songs, though it will suck. Besides, I play Budokai music with my other DBZ games anyway. Also, does anyone know when we can expect an official announcement?
