Was the opening theme of DBZ3 by Yamamoto? I hope for it to stay, I love it.

^ They used the DBZ B3 Opening for their Budokai HD trailer and also used a newly composed song for it, so it might be what'll be included on the opening officially.

Personally, I think this is them trying to do what the fans want. The fans keep saying they want the next game to be more like X, Y or Z, so they thought "hell, we'll give them those again, then."batistabus wrote:On the bright side, at least this could be a sign that they're moving away from the Sparking engine. Maybe if this does well enough, we'll see a Burst Limit 2 or something of the sort.
I think they're already going about this wrong, though. It should've been:
HD Collection: Budokai 1, 2, 3
HD Collection 2: Infinite World & Super Dragon Ball Z
HD Collection 3: Sparking!, Neo and Meteor
And if those did well enough, they could even do a HD Collection Portable with Shin Budokai 1 and 2 and Tag Vs.

Yeah, it does sound me like it's meant to be the opening theme. I really like the new one two, but the old one is amazing, especially when you combine it with this amazing animation, the whole thing is godly for me.

I doubt there will be HD Super DBZ but I really hope I'm wrong. I'll pick this up when the price goes down. I'm not even slightly interested in Budokai 1.

Too bad it has new music mixed with the terrifying BT3 soundtrack. =(

Geeez! Is there any reason for me to get this on XBOX if I'm emulating my old discs of 1, 2, 3 and IW on PC?dbboxkaifan wrote:Too bad it has new music mixed with the terrifying BT3 soundtrack. =(
I really don't want again a game with recycled soundtrack.
I can hype the emulator too for HD, but don't have achievements.......

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
Well, you get nice high definition animation/graphics, so that's a plus.
Considering blood and violence has been toned down after Dragon Ball Z 1 they've probably removed the blood and whatnot from this HD remaster too.
There won't be a cutscene like this (7:40) again. :-/
DBZ B1 US
Pros:
CHA LA HEAD CHA LA Opening
Blood Scenes
Cons:
No Japanese audio
DBZ B1 PAL
Pros:
The in-game title is as the Japanese "Dragon Ball Z" (no Dragon Ball Z Budokai)
Original Japanese audio
Cons:
No CHA LA HEAD CHA LA Opening
No blood scenes
The PAL Dragon Ball Z 1 cutscene was censored but they still kept a black hole than in Kai where there ain't even a damn hole.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VpdhLbg14A (7:10)
This whole censoring is just so ridiculously stupid and annoying, the series had it so they should've just kept it.

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
Y'know, it's really starting to hit home how much I'm going to miss the old Yamamoto score. I mean, I know the soundtrack doesn't make the game, I still have an old copy of Budokai 3 and the replacement scores for Dragon Ball games aren't particularly bad (even though they're a little generic), but it was such a large part of what makes the Budokai games nostalgic. I didn't play the Budokai games for about 4 four years, and yet when I picked up B3 again, I could hum along with every single freakin' tune (well, close to it).
And now that they're trying to market the Budokai games as nostalgia without the old soundtrack...I'm a bit iffy on that.
Still, I like the idea of just giving us the games we love, rather than trying to re-skin a game that we use to love, but are now sick of.
By the way dbboxkaifan, how the hell do you have so many posts.

The graphics for Budokai 1 look a lot nicer in my opinion since I remember the character models in B1 look pretty blocky from what I can remember?batistabus wrote: graphics that show virtually no improvement (besides resolution)

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
Lower resolution character models tend to look cleaner rendered in higher resolutions no matter what simply because it removes low-res blurring and fuzz, even without any kind of filtering. You can see this with a lot of PC ports of PS2 or Xbox games, particularly those that support true 720p (as opposed to 1024 x 768) and 1080p, like the Halos 1 & 2.Hellspawn28 wrote:The graphics for Budokai 1 look a lot nicer in my opinion since I remember the character models in B1 look pretty blocky from what I can remember?batistabus wrote: graphics that show virtually no improvement (besides resolution)

Re: DBZ Budokai HD Collection: Official On-Going Thread
I see no reason to have so many collections. Maybe one more for the Sparking games but that should be it. Even if you liked them they weren't really classics by any means.
As for the graphics, I can see the improvements in motion; well at least from what I can see through a TV on a camcorder. Also, I like the little gloss effect. As simple as it is, it kindda helps the older models look more polished(Buh-Dum-CRASH!).

Guys, do you think they'll leave Rock the Dragon on there or replace it with Head-Cha-La?

I think they'll leave Cha-La, if not, then at least if the JAP audio is on.

Based on DRAGON BALL Z ULTIMATE TENKAICHI they used CHA LA HEAD CHA LA for the opening theme for all international editions but who knows, maybe they will, I wouldn't count much on it.
Rock the Dragon's too repetitive.

Obviously it wouldn't make much sense to have anything besides Head-Cha-La on the Japanese track, but I would much prefer that they kept Rock the Dragon on the English track.

They could do an English dub of CHA-LA-HEAD-CHA-LA, like here and here.
These'd work out much better for the English track than Rock the Dragon.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, because I really want Rock the Dragon on there. Partly because of petty nostalgia, but also because I legitimately like it.
