Greatest ever? There's way too much you have to argue to claim that it is. In contrast to that, yes, it is my favorite anime and I do think its better than almost all the other animes I've seen. I've seen at least well over 30 other anime series. I have never liked anything better.
To comment on some of the animes that people have named here...
Yu Yu Hakusho - everything this anime does well at, the Dragon Ball series does better.
One Piece - Its an okay series but not that convincing.
Naruto - It's not that good. Doesn't live up to its hype.
Then other stuff like Bleach and Full Metal Alchemist I still find Dragon Ball better than them too. There are a lot more that I left out that I'll leave alone for the moment. I'll be back to do some more. So if someone wants to bear with me...

But Gundam isn`t first on that list either dude.
And about people being pissed about certain animated programs not being on there, it`s the shocking reality of being an American anime fan going to Japan. Everyone should get ready for that cause it`s a shocker if you don`t prepare yourself. Everything you think you know and everyone loves, was watched by a handful of people.
