Japanese DVD/BD Releases Back in Stock
Japanese DVD/BD Releases Back in Stock
As reported earlier, the Japanese DVD/BD releases of Kai containing the Yamamoto score were all wiped out due to his scandal, and they're out of print for over a year. Recently, however, they all have become back in stock without any notifications.

These reprints are supposed to contain the replacement score, but I haven't checked them out myself. Probably their covers have Kikuchi's name on them. Anyway, I wonder what took them so long just to replace the audio tracks. They had been out of print for a really long time that can make people forget the series. In addition, Amazon.co.jp is now selling FUNi's season box sets which are leagues cheaper than the Japanese releases. It's way too late.

This is good, I suppose but a little too late, as you've said.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

I wonder how they dealt with the Dragon Books of the BD boxes, which include some interviews referring to the Yamamoto score.

Ah well at least they're there for whatever Japanese Kai fans there are.

Heh...that's a good way to phrase it. There aren't that many, from what I gather.Soul wrote:Ah well at least they're there for whatever Japanese Kai fans there are.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Now they're officially casting off the "Kai" brand.. Kai's presence is getting weaker and weaker in Japan.

Instead of Toei Animation remastering an old series and giving it a refresh name "DRAGON BALL KAI" they should've brought up a brand new series based on DRAGON BALL SD or DRAGON BALL HEROES.
They make DRAGON BALL HEROES promotional videos seem like it's actually an anime series.

I doubt DBSD would be a bigger success than DBK, rather the opposite. As for DBH, it has potential, along with DBO.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
