Thanks for this, but they should have really gotten somebody who can actually play the game to demo it. In comparison to other people this guy is like a complete newbie. For example: TheSaiyanjin2 shows some great combos with characters, the demo would have had a lot more impact if you had someone like him at the controls.

That is just how it always is with these games. When each game comes out they always have someone who isn't good in the view of others in their demonstrations.

Didn't they get Daigo or someone like that to demo Street Fighter 4 at E3 before?

That or they have them purposely not show off advanced combos.

I like how the rep doesn't answer the Vita question at all.

Yeah, all those advanced combos in Budokai 3. Those sure exist.

Long combo = advanced/deep

Literally none of these combos are practical because you'd get enough ki to teleport counter after like five hits.

Actually, providing you've pushed your opponent down to 1 or 2 bars, you can get quite big combos off, probably 10-20 hits. If you get your opponent down to 0 bars then you can easily pull off a 32 hit combo(The point where damage is scaled to 1%) if your good enough with cancelling and have great timing. All the combos in that video I linked just show the possibilities you can pull off during a combo, nobody actually goes about performing 60 hit combos during a fight. If these combos aren't advanced or deep I challenge you to try and do what he did during the video and see if you can do the same. Because some of these cancels are really tight to pull off, back dashing to do intentional whiffs for your ground combos to last longer are also quite difficult too. And when your actually doing a combo during a fight it is important to actually keep your eyes on how much ki your using, part of the Budokai series charm is the ki-centred metagame which forces the players to manage their ki during battles to keep their advantage during the fight. A good player will never give the opponent an opportunity to escape so they will be constantly making sure they have enough ki to teleport counter if you use a teleport counter, failing that there are anti-tc moves in the game which can give an advantage or be used as pressure.

I suggest you check out these:
Anti-tc
Perfect Win with Trunks on Shenron
Perfect Win with Raditz on Shenron
Perfect Win with Vegeta on Shenron

I am aware of the 'somewhat' ''competitive'' budokai scene. But really it's just doing the same thing over and over again. Beats Tenkaichi anyway. But as far as 'real' combos and real FG elements... Budokai doesn't have it. Maybe some but definitely not all of a competitive FG.

In what area's is the Budokai series missing elements to which it couldn't work as a competitive FG?

Really? 3 major characters vs 3 minor side villains?

Not only that Infinite World had a small number of them, but they all IMO looked like complete shit. The graphics looked like PS1-era cutscenes and the lip-syncing was really bad, they just looked really badly rushed.

Don't forget that there's a chance of the cutscenes being censored. :|

BT3 music is going to ruin the Budokai games.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Wasn't that only in the European versions? I'm not sure about those, but I think the American release will be fine.

Have you seen any "pro" Mortal Kombat 9 fights...? They just throw projectiles at each other from across the screen until someone messes up and gives an inch.

Hehehe, yeah, I'm always learning combos and fighting the hell out of fighting games, because I think it is the way how to play them. I thought, that I must be lame in comparison to players who are ''hardcore'' and that I won't stand a chance on some actual competition, so I was watching the Street Fighter 4 fighting cup....... Well. I was unimpressed and bored to hell. It was people spamming 1 max. two combos in combination of blocks. So I can imagine all other fighting competitions.

Only interesting must've been those Pokémon ones, where the fights are actually cutscenes executed after chosing command, LOL.

PS: For people who are saying that Budokai is not fighting game series, the first two play simmilar to Mortal Kombat in terms of combos and control. Budokai 3 and IW are actually dumbed down in this matter.

I didn't have a chance to watch anything this year, but I heard the Street Fighter IV finals at Evo weren't all that great this time around, and that King of Fighters was the stand-out. I wouldn't judge it based on just that one tournament alone, since last year's was amazing.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to find that last year's :)
