There has been never an official word on "canon" regarding Dragon Ball. Whatever you choose as part of the story or not is up to you.
Well other stuff like Lord of the Rings, Alice in Wonderland, Dracula, and other series never had a official canon but fans go with the original source material as canon since it came out first and adaptations don't often have their original creators be apart of their work. Which is why you never see people say that the Nartuo anime or The Hammer Dracula films are canon to their original source material. Someone will use Star Wars or Marvel but those run by a company and their original creators let the company do whatever they want with those two. Dragon Ball has ended over 15 years ago and it has not been on going since 1997 when GT ended.
If Toriyama is part of the writing then I can view it as apart of the manga unless stuff from the anime filler like Hell or Tsufuru-jin is added into the film. Sorry for bring this up but I wanted to point that out!

medama_oyaji wrote:Well, let's look at how Toei is handling the promotion for the newest One Piece film, which is coming this December.
There are a couple OP forums, but here is the thread on Raftel which is a little quieter than the biggest forum, so you can see the updates more clearly without as much chatter
http://raftelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=332
So looks like the original teaser dropped in November of 2011, almost a full year before the film is set to be released. The original info posted was just basically "This will be the first film in The New World!" which is about as much info as "The new DBZ movie will be in the 'Lost Decade'!"
Then it wasn't until MARCH, 4 months later, that a sketch of the villain was revealed at an OP art show in Japan. Here's a thread where that is revealed (it got tossed into another forum section because of the relation to the art show...)
http://raftelforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=420
And then it wasn't until late June, practically July (another 3-4 months) that more info about the movie came out and we got the first trailer (which you can see back at the first thread).
So, if you apply that to our time frame...about a year out (well, less) getting a tiny bit of info and a teaser that (probably) doesn't reveal anything other than the movie is coming out. I could see it being September or even later before we get any substantial info or a real trailer.
Thank you so much. I'm so loosely involved in One Piece compared to DB that I wouldn't know where to look for a summary of its film updates so far. September sounds right. I guess this means I won't have to check in on this thread so often for a while if we probably won't find out anything more until fall. I've followed anime movies during production/pre-release before, but almost all of them have either been adaptations or revealed their new plots soon after being announced. With this DB film I feel in the dark; even the Jump Tour special featured Table and Gure on the poster image for people to theorize about.
Oh well. I can be patient. They did pick one of my favorite time-skip gaps as the setting. I do like that it's during those 10 years. Actually I think I can safely say everything they've revealed about it thus far has been a collection of DB stuff that I like; the characters in base form, smiling Goku, the gi with the "GO" kanji on it. They've even placed Buu arc Vegeta in his Cell arc outfit, and to me that gives off that fun "Jump Tour 08" feel.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

That is good to know. It means that eventually someone will upload it. Even if the clip doesn't have any new information in it, I still want to see it.
I tried multiple video site searches for フジテレビジョン ドラゴンボールZ 2013 and couldn't find anything, so I guess it's just too early.

Then maybe it might show up on Youtube or somewhere pretty quick. I hope

Thanks Kei!

Wasn't much but then again I wasn't expecting much from such an early trailer. maybe we can get a HQ trailer up soon.

That was wonderful. X3 The background looks beautiful, and more smiling base-form, battle-face Goku.
Thank you so much!

I wish I could have recorded the trailer myself. My TV automatically records all the programs on six channels every day, but I changed its setting and it doesn't record from 4:00 am to 6:59 am.. The trailer seems to have aired at 6:52.
I guess it'll be available on the official site soon anyway.

It's a shame you couldn't catch it in 1080i.

Well, hopefully they upload it on the site...

To me, the music kind of sounds like Takaki's style. Maybe it's just a royalty-free piece though.

I sure hope it is Takaki! I would love to hear music on par with the quality of the cutscenes in Ultimate Blast/Tenkaichi. Just a sample from the trailer sounded pretty epic!
