A Super Saiyan Oozaru would be a hybrid of Oozaru and Super Saiyan... because it's a Super Saiyan Oozaru.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Actually the series was incoherent with Goku's tail.Bussani wrote:Super Saiyans always have brown tails as far as I remember. Goku's only turned gold when he reached Super Saiyan 3.

No, Super Saiyan 4 is the hybrid, as it combines traits from the forms into a new transformation. A Super Saiyan Oozaru just happens to activate both, separate transformations at the same time. They can still be used independently of each other, but when used together you still have the defining traits instead of a new, select mixture.Saiga wrote:A Super Saiyan Oozaru would be a hybrid of Oozaru and Super Saiyan... because it's a Super Saiyan Oozaru.
Oozaru - Boat
Super Saiyan - Car
Super Oozaru - Boat + Car = Car on a boat (Ferry)
Super Saiyan 4 - Boat + Car = Aquatic car

I'll have to take your word for that. I remember it being brown more often than not, but I could be misremembering. The tails in Dragon Ball Heroes also stay brown.Fox666 wrote:Actually the series was incoherent with Goku's tail.

The tail color is abit complicated. In the anime itself, the tail remained brown during SSJ, while going gold the one time we see a tailed SSJ3. We never see a tailed SSJ2, as the only time Goku goes SSJ2 is before the regrowing of his tail. To further complicate matters, official artworks show all SSJ forms having gold tails. It wasn't until later art, like the art on the GT Dragonbox that we see brown tailed SSJ Goku. This post shows examples of such ( http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtop ... 60#p530279 ). Make of all of this as you will.

Then to add to that beyond GT, most the video games and their respective artworks keep the tails brown regardless of the series, as demonstrated in back in Budokai 2 with Vegeta's alternate costumes and following that trend with all the following Budokai and Carddass games. But with Episode of Bardock, the first time we see a tailed Super Saiyan in an official DB manga, the color alternates with Ooishi making Bardock's tail both brown and blond depending on which cover art you look at. The anime adaptation retains the brown color though...Twinbee_Mk_II wrote:The tail color is abit complicated. That second image is fan made. They traced the original and altered colors:Fox666 wrote:Interesting, I didn't realize that Bardock tail was yellow in depending of the image.

Here was the other Ooishi drawing I was talking about where the tail is brown, opposite the first picture you posted, where she made it blond:
Re: Bardock the...Super Saiyan 4?
That makes sense. It also explains why Vegeta didn't go straight to the Golden form, because he had control over himself the entire time and only did it briefly before going SS 4.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:As shown with Gohan at the 25th Budokai, rage can trigger the Super Saiyan transformation, even if you're trying to keep your cool. Goku never learned to control his Oozaru form, so the natural rage exhibited caused him to go Super Oozaru almost immediately.Saiga wrote:But Goku was in base and he turned into a golden Oozaru...

I noticed that in the first one Bardock has an aura on it. That's the only "explanation" I can find to it.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Here was the other Ooishi drawing I was talking about where the tail is brown, opposite the first picture you posted, where she made it blond:

I don't think there really needs to be any sort of explanation to it, it's just a coloring inconsistency. Same for how she occasionally switches between red and maroon for Bardock's bandanna and "warmers", as well as black and blue for his armor. The most recent image she did for the manga, as far as I know, was the one I posted. So I guess we should assume the tail was retconned to be brown, like in the anime adaptation.Fox666 wrote:I noticed that in the first one Bardock has an aura on it. Re: Bardock the...Super Saiyan 4?
So a Super Saiyan's tail was brown in GT itself, but sometimes gold in artwork? That would explain why I only remember it being brown.

It is sometimes brown in GT, sometimes brown in Episode of Bardock, and brown in videogames.
