A lot of people are hyping this movie as if it's the first Dragonball film in a long time. But, Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! came out in 2008 (and sucked).

I hate everything in the story after the Androids/Cell arc, but hopefully this will be better than the last film. Hoping for an official English dub, too.

2008 Special was awesome, and it's English dub that sucks.

Wow, rude much? I disagree with most of his post too (I love the Boo arc, the 2008 special was awesome, and I'd love for the recent stuff to get dubbed too), but at least his wasn't typed out very hostile-like, unlike yours. Hoping the movie never comes out here just so dub fans can rage? Totally uncalled for and, you know, it denies the movie to a lot of sub fans too...don't like dubs, just switch the audio track, geez.

The Jump special was a theatrical short. Feature films are more than 40 minutes in length.

Well, that's not all you said, and I too strongly disagree with you, and I too hail from Europe. Although I strongly disagree with MewtwoZX, especially since, as much as I hate the Portuguese dub, I've been secretly hoping for either a dub of a sub to arrive in European theatres.

Hating on "dubbers" as fiercely and irrationally as you do, MewtwoZX, only makes you as bad as they are. And Dr. Machismo didn't even say if he liked the subbed versions or not, just that he would like a dub.

What is wrong with you? So what if someone doesn't like the Japanese version? I love both the English and Japanese but to wish that these specials never come to the US is wrong!

Exactly, it's entirely possible for someone to like both dubs and subs. For shows that I like a LOT, I can pretty much go either way, I'm a fan of the shows in question before I am any kind of audio track. I default to dubs usually, I'll admit, but I'm perfectly capable of switching to Japanese too.

Anyway, yeah, new DB movie, awesomeness, yeah yeah yeah woo! I know it'll be a while before we have any sort of story confirmation, but I'm wondering if most characters are going to be in it even just as a cameo, like in the 2008 special.

The human characters definitely need some glory in this movie, even if it's just mowing down basic 'minions' or something. I can't remember if I said this here before or if it was in a conversation with a friend, but even just seeing those guys just breezing through unnamed minion solider dudes (think like the soldiers in Lord Slug), and commenting to each other about how fun it is to be effective again, would be awesome to me, and also would get a quick laugh at them poking at their own lackluster use in later stuff.

And if Kuririn is in it (which I guess is a duh, especially with him on the poster), use him for more than comedic stuff. Though he's awesome at that.

On Tenshinhan, well we do have a new actor for him from Kai, right? Is there any character who's actor has passed on that hasn't got a new actor actually?

If you don't like the dub then don't watch it . I always watch Dragon Ball in subs most of the time depending on the mood that I'm in.

Whoops sorry my mistake. I knew someone just passed away though I thought It was maybe Piccolo.

Also what's up with the new Animation? it looks better than the Kai intro stuff I don't know how to explain it.

In case anyone remembers: the movie known in English as Dead Zone was originally released simply as Dragon Ball Z. It didn't get its actual title (Return My Gohan!!) until the VHS release, and even then the title is nowhere to be found in the movie itself.

Also, I understand that they couldn't show much animation from the actual movie (what with it not being done yet), but if you're going to use stock footage from old theatrical films, why pick the 10th anniversary movie? Evolution in much more recent.

I'm fairly certain footage from Evolution was played right after the 2013 movie's teaser. Or at least that stuff reminded me of DBE...

Yeah, I noticed that transition from CG to 2D/hand-drawn the first time I watched it through. Kind of lazy, in my opinion, but I guess Yamamuro (Shida?) wasn't in the mood to do so many key frames.

That video is now one of your prides and joys isn't it. Not that I could blame you in the slightest.

I kind of hope that any newer characters introduced in this movie are voiced by newer seiyuu too, adding to the overall DB cast, rather than re-using some of the people we've already got on established characters too. Like how they brought in, um...Masukazu Morita, I think, for Tarble? The guy who plays Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach anyway. Bringing in someone else quality from a newer show would be cool.

Then again, I wish Goro Naya had gotten a bigger part than the one he did back in the day, but that ship has sailed.

Even though that art style isn't my favorite (23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai style is), I'll always have a fondess for Jump Tour 08 style simply because of how memorable watching that Goku messing with Vegeta was for me.

I am very anxious to see some clip of the movie soon. I am not an expert in drawing, but I think all the promotional material (Posters and this newly released teaser) gives off a OVA special vibe instead of a theatrical looking product. I doubt what Toei, and the other partners involved, are showing is the final animation of the Dragon ball Z movie characters.
