I KNOW RIGHT? I have the same problem too. My eyesight isn't awful but it is bad enough that if I take off my glasses in a dark theater, then I'm not going to be enjoying the movie as much as I should. So I have to coerce those things over my actual glasses. And then, every time (though I've only seen two movies in 3D), about an hour after the movie was over I'd get a headache. I'd never heard anyone else mention this problem though, so I was starting to worry it was just me.

Has anyone else noticed that the trailer resembles that of Raging Blast? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca0a08SS_M8

Yep! Got a similar feel. The new one has way more charm to it, though. Less stern-faced Goku makes for happy Mike times.

Yeah, I definitely noticed the similarity the instant I watched the teaser, though this version was obviously more epic.

Most movies often have both a 2D and 3D showings. I'm not sure how it works in Japan but I can imagine that it's likely the same in Japan as well. I like watching movies in 3D if they where shot and film in 3D. Otherwise 3D pop out gimmicks don't look very good in 2D. If a movie that was converted to 3D on the last minute then I'm going to watch it in 2D since I hear the 3D for those type of movies look awful (For example, the remake of Clash of the Titans and the new version of Conan the Barbarian). I think 3D is possible for this movie given how 3D seems to pretty popular with movies in Japan as well.

It's all about money whether 3D's used or not and it'll probably be since the theatres, labels and whatnot have invested on it they're not going to throw it away now if they see there's still people who're willing to pay more for the same thing but in 3D.

Apparently the 3D in 3DS isn't doing too well for Nintendo.

Dragon Ball in hologram tech it'd definitely be effin awesome, just take a look at this (Tupac), this (Miku) and this (Gorillaz).

Is it me or was Goku in the Trailer CGI-animated/assisted/whatever? There are some frames, where you can notice the "CGI"-ness of Goku....

DB Xenoverse is not a DBZ simulator with fighting elements, it's a semi competent fighting/action game with DBZ simulation elements.

It's nothing but a scam to milk more money from people, it's shit, they say it's special, it's not, it's bullshit. I have yet to meet one single person who tells me that he or she loves or even likes or enjoys 3D movies.

If this movie is released in 3D I hope at least it will also be released in 2D, otherwise I'm not going to enjoy it as much for sure.
You make it sound like this film would be released theatrically outside of Japan. I'm fairly certain outside of anime conventions, some film fests, and maybe some really minor showings (1 day only!) it won't.

I don't think DBZ is strong enough to hold a theatrical release in the US since most anime films in the US never get big releases unless they are from Studio Ghibli. If Funimation does pick up the rights to this film then it's likely to get a direct to video release and we might be lucky enough to have it a screening at a anime convention like they did with the dub of Evangelion 1.0 in 2009.

As for the movie being in 3D, I'm pretty sure there will be 3D blu-ray release of it when it comes out on home video. I watch movies on a 3D TV before and it was pretty awesome. I like the movie enough then I might buy a 3D blu-ray release to see how the 3D looks.

It's most likely not going to unless it's a small limited released. Foreign films never get big released in the US since they don't appeal to most movie goers in the US. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon back in 2000 got a big release because it was nominated for best picture. As I mention before, anime outside Studio Ghibli never have a big commercial release in the US. Even those films have a hard time since Ponyo open up at #9 when it was released in the US. I was working on the week that The Secret World of Arrietty hit theaters and we had hardly anyone show up on opening night.

Foreign films and anime films don't appeal to the general movie goers at all, the only people who will see this in theaters are the fans. I don't think that's enough for them to have a big release in theaters.

Well, until Toei Animation decides to dust off their celluloid sheets and paint brushes, we won't be getting any old school animation as seen in the original TV series back in the day. The main issue is animators. Not too many of the series' original animators are still around these days. The veterans can only do so much to cover all the young talent, so it just is what it is.

Yeah but I'm from Europe. In Portugal we do get some Japanese movies, if they're not very popular they'll go to smaller theaters, but we do get a fair deal of them. I watched a double feature of Movie 12 and 13 in the cinema when I was a kid. And man it was awesome!
I'm pretty sure some of Myazaki productions have gone to cinema as well, I'm fairly certain that Mononoke Hime did get a cinema release. So yeah, there is some degree of hope. I will travel back to Portugal to watch it with my friends if it gets a release announced there.

I'm not sure about Europe but I'm going by US theaters since the US has one of the biggest movie markets in the world. Anime and foreign films don't have that much luck here in the US unless they are critically acclaimed films. I guess in Portugal that they might be lucky but I have no idea how popular Dragon Ball in that country.
