I think we should start a "things FUNI unexpectedly did well" thread, because I feel the dub gets way too much slack and did a lot of things very well.
Example of a line I loved in English:
Original Japanese:
"The truth is I could've defeated that Fat Buu when I was at Super Saiyan 3, but I wanted the little tykes to do it." Vegeta flies away "That jerk, he's not even listening".
English:
"The truth is, I could've taken down Buu as Super Saiyan 3, but hey, I wanted the Earth's heroes to do it. I can't keep coming back to save them, I won't be around forever." Vegeta flies away "And hopefully neither will that guy...(Vegeta)"
Personal preference that's all. The original Japanese is brilliant, but I always crack up at Goku's delivery at the end in English. A nice touch by FUNI

Two I can think of. One from laziness, and another from how the times were then.
The laziness part is from when Goku meets Chi-Chi again at the tournament. The flashback when he mentions taking her hand is still them using the script from 1995 of them wondering about thinking of each other, ten he says something about a bride and remembering. If they weren'tlazy and redid te dialogue, it would've made more sense.
The second one is how they didn't have Upa scare Count Dracula by saying he's a cross. Likely due to their being more for what was on tv back then, and not wanting to mention a cross. (Back then, anything that could be considered "religious references" was a no-no to avoid offending anyone, from really religious folks, to hardcore sensitive atheists. Even Naruto censored crosses).

When Goku goes SSJ for the first time in the Japanese version, the mood is very eerie, dark and kinda scary, but epic, as if we're about to see the unleashing of a monster. I think FUNimation should've kept it that way, somewhat. Hearing Bruce Faulconer's score just makes it feel like I'm watching a commercial ad for the series now whenever I see it. I think "Ginyu Transformation" would've fit the mood a lot better.
