If this game ultimately doesn't get a North American release, there's a very cruel irony in it for knowledgeable DragonBall fans. Back when the AF craze was in its height, ignorant people were saying that Japan was secretly withholding AF because they didn't want us to have it. Now, this game, which takes on certain elements of AF (Various Saiyan characters getting new SSJ Transformations), may be withheld from us.

By the way... we are getting 3 games this year after all.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

It would be quite foolish to think that because Vita's had a poor start it is doomed to ever decreasing sales. Namco Bandai is a big partner of Sony's and I suspect both of them know the road ahead for that platform better than we do.

This game is scheduled for release in 2013. It says so on the scan twice. We're getting three games in 2012 but they're just re-releases of Budokai, Budokai 3, and Ultimate Tenkaichi in two separate products.

I have no idea when these things end, I don't pay attention, but is it still the same fiscal year? They could have meant the statement that way... Meh. Doesn't really matter either way though.

I doubt Treevax was talking in terms of fiscal year 2012.

So this is the mystery 3ds game from a year or two ago? meh not too big on hand held gaming so, my interest in this game is extremely slim.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

My point was that the representative could have been talking about releasing 3 games in the fiscal year, and Treevax misinterpreting that and passing it on to us as "3 games in 2012". As I said though, it doesn't really matter either way.

Will the cards used be those of the arcade version?

If it's the case there is no chance it'll be released outside Japan anytime soon.

The 3DS doesn't have an NFC. So I'm pretty sure it's a completely digital, self contained game, meaning you won't need the actual cards at all. The only way I could think of them being used is by having the system's camera unlock them in-game by scanning them like a QR or AR card.

I also would've liked to have had Ultimate Butoden available in the U.S. Having a sequel to "Attack of the Saiyans" on the 3DS would've been fun. It's nice to see Heroes getting a non-arcade game, but I haven't had much interest in it outside of getting to see new character designs and how cool it is to finally have female super saiyajins. If the 3DS one is still card-based (probably digital on-screen cards), I'm not sure I'd play it though; not much of a fan of card games. I doubt it'll be released outside of Japan.

It really is a shame that the 3DS is region-locked; I only own one Japan-released DS game (Jump Super Stars) but I liked knowing I had the option to import games if I wanted to.

That's what I always thought for a DB Heroes game on a console. Digital cards.

I hope this game gets licensed in EU/US.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

Digital card games have been done for all the other main card games. Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, so this is nothing new or surprising.

I think it's kinda funny and random how they include Luud in the promo art XD. That's some serious GT-love, even for Heroes.

He seems kind of like an odd choice for GT representation, but it's almost as if they are representing the game's trinity in the background; Z, GT, Movies. Llod is the only GT giant we've had so far, so not a whole lot of options...

Yeah, it's nothing new but a portable console is getting a DB cards game and not another Tenkaichi like on PSP, so it's a plus. imo.

I plan on buying retro consoles sometime near in the future and after the 3DS so by then I can only hope it's hacked.

Zenkai Battle Royale for Xbox 360 and PS3 would be a good idea, and not to worry PS3-PSV users could play ZBR on their PS Vita with cross-play on the Vita (a feature yet to be added by Sony).

I'm not saying like it's a bad thing. Like I said, it might be interesting, if we ever get a localization. If now, I'm not really gonna bother with it since I can't read moonspeak.

If this game comes out in the west, I will be both happy and absolutely pissed.

It makes sense to release it over here too since there's still no Dragon Ball game to be seen on the 3DS, and I would actually be interested in being able to play Heroes whenever I want....BUT....we never got Ultimate Butoden *skipping angry rant about that one* and to play this I would have to buy a console with a gimmick that I disapprove (and hurts my eyes) and I find difficult to give money for something where its main feature would always be off...so, not so much.

If the 3D bothers you, you can turn it off. I know I will when I eventually get a 3DS......eventually.

It's not as if virtual card games for handhelds are new to Dragon Ball either:

The past 3 generations of handhelds have had at least one of them.

^Too bad of those games sucked :P ! I don't care for the game given that this is likely not going to be released in the US. I'm pretty sure the Japanese DB fans will have a fun time with the game though.
