Great, I'll have to waste another $30 to buy the starter set to pay for some figure I don't want. The box, yes, the figure, no.

I'm assuming the same thing's going to happen to the Namek saga sets as well.

Ugh, how about giving us some special features instead.

I hope that Funi re-release the ginyu saga towards the end to have a consistent artwork on the covers. I bought the first dvd and, notice that the bitrate is horrible;especially if it's at the top of the screen where it's almost always blue. Does vol.2 forward have this same problem? About redubbing the entire series, alas no... Only the lines that are contradictorial to the original dragonball series like:Taopaipai was a general in the Red Ribbon Army and such. I wish that they continue releasing more special feutures for subsiquient UUSE dvd releases.
Goku:HYAAAH!
Buu:Haa...Haaa
Vegeta:What the hell is going on here?

Sorry for this,it's my attempt at humor.

The bitrate is actually decent on the all the UUs. The picture itself just looks like shit due to numerous other reasons. If you expected much better quality on the rest of these releases, don't. Also, don't expect any new extras. And no, they won't be redubbing other parts of DBZ to fix mistakes like "General" Tao.

It's very iffy that they'll re-release the Ginyu DVDs under the UU Name. Although it would be awesome if they incorprated them into the Namek boxset. Or if they split the Namek arc into two, like they did with their "Vegeta Saga", only instead of titling it Namek I and Namek II, calling the first Namek and the second Ginyu Force, and including the Ginyu Rereleases as part of the set. Sure it would be nice, but don't keep your fingers crossed.

Myself, I am assuming that the "Ultimate Uncut" stuff was meant to cover the work that Saban (and not FUNimation) had done. I also say that because I knew somebody that knows Krillin's VA. And he told me the news when there was an anime/manga booth in my favorite mall.

But seriously... other than the intro and ending change, and the music (to a slightly lesser degree, compared to the movie)... my only complaint was the fact that [Kid] Gohan was the weakest of the bunch. Mostly because when he was with the robot, he was supposed to whisper. And yet, the whole time the VA sounded like he was putting no effort into the scene. :x

Ugh... I just wonder now if movies 8 and 12 were worth watching, dub-wise. Because I sure as hell will not buy the "ultimate uncut" stuff anytime soon. And if it wasn't for the fact I actually enjoyed their version of movie 4 more than Toei's... I doubt I would be even considering the thought of buying anything DBZ from them. <-(I say that because I will not buy a DVD for just one version, since I want to enjoy both versions.)

Is there any place where I might see like a review of the video footage of the second volume like VegetoEX did for the first volume? I am eager to see the difference between the later UUSE dvd in grain agaisnt Toei's. But remember please its not that Toei's is the better period stuff. I just want to see in the later episdoes the grain difference  It's kind of confusing, huh?

I can tell you straight out, it gets MUCH better as they go along. The first volume really suffered from the lack of a better master, and is an unfair judgement for the rest of the releases. I remember watching flashbacks to the first episodes on some later volumes and thinking, wow, this is what that shld have looked like.

But still, It would be nice if someone could post some comparisons of the later volumes against the DragonBox stuff. I'm curious as to whether the first volume was overly saturated compared to the later ones to hide the excessive grain.

When you are watching the UU, sharpness is not your friend! If you lower the sharpness on your TV really low on the 1st UU volume it looks decent. If any one owns a Sony TV just put the picture mode on vivid when watching DBZ DVDs in general. It helps a lot.

That's what I did! And I also tune down the brightness a bit in hopes that it will look a little like the japanese colors. Too bad FUNImation has no plans to release a dragonbox like and video quality and doubt it will ever be. Why does anime has to suffer on money hungry people? Guess I'm back to Dream Land

Hey they are doing the best they can with these 2nd hand 15 year old prints and at least the movies look a little better, and anything is better then the old pioneer releases.

Maybe not visually, but the dubbing for the Pioneer movie releases are much better. >_> Though the rest of the series does look like crap on the Pioneer DVDs.

Ok so I would just like to get one thing straight. The "Ultimate Uncut Editions" have brand new background music, along with a new opening and ending sequence?

Also it seems to me that there is little difference between the Pioneer dub, and Funimations dub concerning visual quality. I read the article on www.Daizex.com but it was not much of a visual difference.

I guess what I am trying to say is there any significant differences in the two dub versions?

Thanks guys

I got to agree with Brollyskin; I don't know what kind of Pioneer discs you guys got, but I haven't seen any of this macro blocking and what not on any of my three movies. If anything they look better than Funimation's.

Just because you cant see it, doesnt meant it isn't there.

If I don't see it, isn't that all that matters? :P

One more question, does anyone have any ideas if Funimation will release the Ginyu saga to the Kid Buu saga again? Or is it probably safe to buy the already existing Funimation dvds without fear of them being re-released?

I just don't want to buy every dvd only to find Funimation releasing them again being extra "uncut"

There is nothing "extra uncut" to release. What's out is out, fully uncut. Quality of their dub aside, that is.
