Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

I don't see how the Ocean Dub (if your referring to episodes1-53) is over ratted since most of what I have read is a flood negative things about the dub whenever one person brings up liking it... Personally, I think the FUNimations Kai dub is overrated (though it's the best FUNimation has done for DBZ).

The Saiyan/Namek saga does to the Ocean group
Frieza-Boo the Japanese

I'd almost say Japanese for the whole show but I actually like most of the cuts FUNimation did early on. I feel some of the major characters in FUNi's in-house cast haven't and still have not gotten their characters right.

Well I've seen countless comment's saying things like "I prefer the Funimation dub for the Cell and Buu arcs, but I prefer Ocean for the Saiyan and Freeza arcs".

No amount of Chris Sabat's screaming or grunting can match Brian Drummond's portrayal of Vegeta's laps in mental capacity when he finds out that Gohan stole his Dragon Ball on Namek. I've never been a big fan of Chris Sabat as Vegeta, But Brian Drummond seems to portray him in a menacing and psychotic way.

After watching the entire Kai Dub, I can't really stand any of the Funi Dub anymore. I'm not saying the Kai Dub is perfect, but it's the best one Funi's done so far. I'm kind of biased and can't stand any of Funi's actors. I don't like Sean Schemmel, I don't like Chris Sabat, and I absolutely loathe Stephanie Nadolny.
I wipe it off the tile, the light is brighter this time, everything is 3D blasphemy.
My eyes are red and gold, the hair is standing straight up, this is not the way I picture me.
I can't control my shakes, how the hell did I get here? Something about this, so very wrong.
I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn't like this. Is it a dream or a memory?

On the topic of Vegeta, here is Kyle Hebert as Vegeta... in the style of Brian Drummond.

That's precisely why ordinary men pursue the concept of perfection, it's infatuation. But ultimately I have to ask myself "What is the true meaning of being perfect?" and the answer I came up with was nothing. Not one thing. The truth of the matter is I despise perfection! If something is truly perfect, that's IT! The bottom line becomes there is no room for imagination! No space for intelligence or ability or improvement! Do you understand? To men of science like us, perfection is a dead end, a condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you but not perfect! Scientist's agonize over the attempt to achieve perfection! That's the kind of creatures we are! We take joy in trying to exceed our grasp, in trying to reach for something that in the end, we have to admit may in fact be unreachable!"
