That Dragon Ball AF was real. I actually like the title "Dragon Ball AF" than "Dragon Ball Hoshi".

In graphic detail.

I think I heard the same (or very similar) rumor too. But I live in Mexico! xD I didn't have Internet until much much later so I guess it was a good thing I didn't get to look for those scenes. lol I also heard there was actually an episode where Bulma asks Vegeta to make their relationship official and they have a wedding.

I remember hearing that Pan and Goku from GT were actually two more children of Goku and that Trunks had taken them to space to train. I believed it for a while because from the few pictures I had seen, Goku had a darker tan there and I thought he was a different character.

What else... That Pikkon was Piccolo's and Krillin's fusion. Uhm... I'll come back with more.

Actually, you bringing up a wedding made me remember another one. Me and my friends started playing "Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout" shortly before FUNimation's in-house dub began...so, around the time the Ginyu Force was on the verge of defeat. This game confused us, because it showed us characters in constumes we hadn't seen yet. On top of that, it showed us characters that looked nothing like what we saw in the anime. For example, only Freeza's final form was selectable in the game, and I remember going, "That's not Freeza, why did the game company make something totally different?"

Perhaps most importantly, though, it showed us characters that we hadn't seen yet...like Trunks.

At the time, me and my friends had no idea that DBZ was Japanese cartoon dubbed into English, and thought it was a cartoon of American origin. So, the internet told of "episodes that had yet to be released," which caused us to wonder why they were taking so damn long to release the show if it was already complete. The info that we gathered on future episodes was seriously flawed, though, leading to one massive misconception that we had for years until learning the truth.

The rumor? That Trunks was Bulma's future husband.

Turns out that was a tad wrong.

In fact, now that I'm thinking about it, pretty much every rumor I heard that ended up being terribly wrong had something to do with the Briefs family (counting Vegeta, in this case).
Gyt Kaliba wrote::lol: That one reminds me of an event that I have "fond" memories of too. Back when I was in 6th grade, and was just starting to get into DBZ, there was an Asian kid that I was friends with named Tai. He was also sort of a fan, and it was kind of because of him that I checked out DBZ at all (I had some kind of stupid bet going with him that Pokemon was better than DBZ or something) - though I didn't get into it at first because of that damned Bulma and the crabs episode. But that's another story entirely sorta.

Anyway, once I really started to get into DBZ, he told me that I should check out the sequel series. I told him I'd heard about GT, but he said there were two more after that - 'Dragon Ball Hentai' and 'Dragon Ball XXX' respectively. He convinced me to Google the two when I got home. ...Things did not go well from there as you can imagine.

Ahem.:P
That's a pretty brilliant practical joke, though--I give your friend kudos for thinking of it!
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

I was lucky enough with most of the rumors I guess.

Anyway, I don't remember how, but I knew Goku was going to grow up in the original series and that there were some kind of transformation later on. One day, the first days of summer vacation, I was hanging out with at my grandma's place and someone had the TV on at the other room. I was eating... or something, can't recall really. What I do remember is that suddenly, I hear the voice of Adult Goku, some new voices and a new soundtrack. I froze. I got up from my chair and ran to the room screaming "OH GOD, I CANT BELIEVE IT". It was the first ad for the upcoming Dragon Ball Z series. I kid you not, it was one of the happiest day of my life. A week after the series aired, I found a magazine that made a synopsis of the whole anime. I knew all the main points but there were many details left out and that's where most of the rumors I heard came from.

Heh, just found it.... my god, this is so old...

Today, I was just reminded of a rumour I heard about Broli being a swordsman, well before the movie was available in Australia.

Along with the typical Broli wank, naturally.

I also remember the rumors in the 5th grade that it was Babidi that turns Goku in a kid in GT. People back then seem to hype up GT if it was going to be awesome as DBZ but sadly it wasn't.

I remember reading information about GT while we were still in the Boo saga, and Baby got confused with Baba when talking about Vegeta taking on the Golden Oozaru form with Baby inside him. I remember wondering how the hell that was going to happen!

In school we all agreed upon the fact that Goku and Vegeta were brothers. The newer rumour was that Broli and Goku shared a wet-nurse.

We were all aware of the fact that DB was Japanese, but lots of people were sure that European version it was "heavily cut by Americans" (it wasn't- French cut out maybe 15 minutes from all series) , even if the French openings for DB and Z were left and French dub was even louder than overdub.

This was actually kind of an obscure in joke. Dr. Zoidberg was an old incredibly popular troll on the Gamefaqs board where this cheat was posted for a long time so...yeah

I still remember that guy :P . Gamefaqs is like IMDB but for games, anyone can submit info on that site. I can see why people would fall for it but I knew it was bullshit ever since I saw it.

I remember a rumor of SSJ4 Goku being unlockable in Budokai 1 and I think it was on Gamefaqs at one point.

Sorry, but most of that is bullshit, and IGN is awful for ever giving it any extra publicity.

The odds of this Kiji Anime site (which can't even be viewed on Archive.org) having a genuine inside source on Fox is extremely low. And the odds of them knowing a big name like Roland Emmerich was considered, while no other reliable entertainment news site had a clue, is even lower. Most likely, they either made this stuff up for the attention (which IGN gladly gave them), or they were fooled by IMDB trolls.

IMDB is user edited, so people could just as well have listed Orson Welles as the director and James Cagney as Yamcha.

And as a wrestling fan who's been following reliable internet wrestling news sources for over a decade, I can say with 100% certainty that the Bill Goldberg rumor is absolutely false. I hear about every little TV or movie role that wrestling personalities get, including this movie that Goldberg actually did do, and there was never any news of Goldberg in a Dragon Ball movie. I even emailed one of the reporters I trust years ago, and he replied that he'd never heard of such a thing.

Someone just made the Goldberg thing up based on the similar appearance. Hell, I might even be the source for that rumor (at least partially), because right after the movie's license was announced, we had a thread about it on alt.fan.dragonball where we joked about wrestlers playing Dragon Ball characters. Like Steve Austin as Bardock since they both rebelled against their bosses, or Sting as Gokuu since they're both easily fooled, etc.

I remember thinking Android 18's real name was Rose. I have no idea where that rumor came from but, I thought it was true for the longest time.

Not to mention that Roland Emmerich said that he does not like making movies based on comics, cartoons or video games. Sony ask him to direct Spider-Man after Godzilla came out and he turn it down since he said that comic book movies are not his thing going by what he did in a old interview. I still admit that I rather watch a DB movie with the rumor DB movie cast then the movie that we got.

This probably isn't too interesting of a rumor, but I remember reading that in Dragon Ball Z: Harukanaru Densetsu, Raditz and Princess Snake were implied to be in a relationship...

There was a time on the internet when GamesRadar was known as cheatplanet.com. It was there I found a cheat that said you could unlock Bardock in Budokai 1. I tried it and it failed.

I just remembered another one!!

There was this big rumor at the start of DBZ that Bulma found a way to "capsulize" a Kamehameha. She was suppose to use it for an emergency because making that special capsule was very difficult.
I REALLY believed this would happen at some point in the anime or the movies, it just screamed TORIYAMA all over it. I hadn't seen all the movies until a year ago so I just assumed it happened there somewhere.

My favorite was when I was from way back when Toonami was still doing it's eternal repeats of the Saiyan and Namek stuff. I guess since it wasn't progressing on TV people where trying to find info on-line and getting things mixed up. But anyway, the rumor going around school was that Goku would reach SSJ3 later in the series, which of course is true however in this rumor, SSJ3 was a man sized golden ape. No idea where this came from, maybe someone saw the Golden Oozaru in GT and just thought it was supposed to be human sized, but everyone believed it for a few weeks at least, until someone else found an actual image of SSJ3.

I remember back in the day (around '95) there were rumors about a anime series called Dragon Ball X airing late at night in some Spanish TV channel. Everyone in school knew someone who knew someone who had watched it.
