Why can't we have Ten and Yamcha do something instead of the stupid pair of Trunks and Goten. Seriously, I hate those two, and I'd much prefer to see the old Z-gang get together like an awesome re-visit to the Saiyan arc. Have them fight tournament style or something.

I think Trunks and Goten are there because they fill the "you can relate to them because they're little kids just like you" niche. Throughout DB there's always a child in the main cast, be it Goku himself, Gohan, Trunks and Goten, and even at the very end Pan and Bura. While I don't hate child Trunks and Goten, I do dislike when they take screen time away from other main characters that I am interested in.

all kidding aside, I know some of you folks will probably disagree with me here but I really want there to be some kinda tournament in this movie. I'm a sucker for those tournaments. Just watching the characters pick a ball and figure out who they're going to fight, hitting the machines and stuff I love it :)

Edit - Also I'd like to see martial arts moves like the first 3 movies. because honestly ''Yeah it's cool to see characters power up and blast at each other'' But I want to see fights like when Goku had to fight Piccolo in ''The Worlds Strongest'' or ''The Dead Zone''
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Isn't anyone tired that we always get battles taking place on earth or some planet. We never get to see them fight in outer space not even once.

Its debatable on wether or not Saiyans can breath in space. Bardock seemed to be doing fine in outer space yet SSJ Goku wasn't sure if he could Survive Namek's explosion let alone breath in Space so instead of testing his thesis he goes with the less dangerous route and escapes in a space pod.

The problem with tournaments is that they're too weak for the main heroes now. They probably couldn't fight at their maximum without making a mess. (actually they did that 30 years ago and now just flashing their hands should kill everything near by) So maybe a different kind of tournament in a different world, similar to Grand Kaio's tournament, with the most powerful fighters from different galaxies/worlds joining in. It could expand across time too. Maybe in the future there's someone powerful enough to be a challenge. Future time-travel would also be a new idea in DB, and a cool one.

Planet Vegeta could have had a higher atmosphere than Earth does? If that makes sense or not...

You ask the production staff to understand your wants, but you won't understand their needs or wants? Heck, there's not even an indication that Tenshinhan and Yamcha won't be in the movie.

I understand exactly where you're coming from. But it would be cool in my opinion if we had a tournament kinda like the Bojack movie.

Edit- Just thought about it, It would be cool to have a tournament in another galaxy or something.

IDK Bardock to me looked like he was a good distance away from Planet Vegeta.

So! More researchy-type update stuff!
For anyone curious, the episodes Masahiro Hosoda (who's going to direct the movie) directed contain the following:

173 - Dende's New Occupation!! The Dragonballs are Revived
182 - Get Angry, Gohan!! Release the Dormant Power Within
188 - Bye-Bye Everyone!! Goku's Last Shunkan Idou
193 - A New Day Will Come... Father! I'll Hang in There

I remember most of these pretty well, so I didn't go back to re-watch them. I did re-watch the 4 episodes of Sailor Moon that Hosoda directed/storyboarded though. Those episodes are:

186 - The Mystery of ChibiChibi! The Big Noisy Chase
191 - When a Light Butterfly Dances in the Air! Premonition of a New Wave
195 - Fireball Princess Dies Out! Galaxia Descends
199 - The Light of Hope! Final Battle for the Galaxy

I also re-watched the Kobato episode he directed, because it's a more recent example, even though unlike the Sailor Moon episodes, he only directed this one and didn't do the storyboards. And also Kobato's way different than Sailor Moon; Sailor Moon is a lot closer to DB in content than Kobato is.

7 - ...Kind Person.

Over all, I get a good feeling about Toei choosing Hosoda to direct the movie. I can tell there is substance to his work (a sense of humanity?), and it does give me confidence in his ability to do well with the project.

Also, just a few more days and I get to find out if my prediction about Jump 40 having new movie info via Jump Super Anime Tour stuff is true. I hope it is.

I do like Minoru Maeda's art style in the saiyajin arc. It would be nice to see him return. I know it's near-impossible, but it'd still be nice.

Those were good and emotional episodes from Sailor Moon as I remember. If they take a similar approach... I would love them forever if they make me cry.

Oh god, I'm really crossing my fingers for that too. I'm dying to get more info. I don't want to, but I know I'll be ending up spoiling myself the whole movie eventually.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"

Considering how active Nakatsuru Katsuyoshi has been with Toei titles this year I think he's a shoe-in for doing some key animation for this movie, at least. I'm also interested in seeing if Yamamuro Tadayoshi asks anyone to act as Assistant Animation Supervisors. For Ossu! Kaette Kita Son Gokuu to Nakama-tachi!! special he had Kubo Hideki, Tate Naoki and Ide Takeo help him, after all. While some Maeda Minoru would be nice I don't think he has key animated since the eighties (or at least, Dragon Ball episodes #22 and #29) so I'm not entirely sure it'd be worth it anyway.

Is Hosoda Masahiro also providing the storyboard? I know these days the storyboard credit is often given to another, so I'm wondering if he'll simply be dictating what he wants from the storyboard artist or if he is bustin' out his pencils and drawing it himself.

Maeda had the most fluid of all animations in Dragonball.

How about the new villian who casts the spell on Z-Fighters that splits them into their good and evil counterparts, then Z-Fighters fight their own dark selves? I know that it wouldn't happen, but it would be cool to see this.

If Goku created his technique, Super Dragon Fist in Movie 13, then why not Vegeta create his new technique in the new movie? Vegeta would make his new technique stronger than his Final Flash or something.

Toei's Precure 5's first movie did something kinda like that; they also did it within the series with a much creepier way, the movie one was more stylish and action-packed. Toei's HeartCatch Precure had a mini-arc where the evil counterparts were negative aspects of the characters, but there wasn't a villain involved in that mini-arc; it was a training exercise.
I partly think that because Goku is Goku the spell wouldn't work on him (cause he can ride Kinto'un, and because the devilmite beam didn't work on him at Baba's) but if it were to work for the sake of giving him a counterpart so he's not the only one without one, I feel his evil counterpart would mostly be his selfishness. I think that's his biggest negative personality trait.

I agree, having freshly watched those Sailor Moon episodes; they are good and emotional. If that kind of style and weight is in this upcoming movie, I feel I'm gonna be very impressed. I also liked how he made good use of time when it came to battles. There were times where I expected to see the henshin sequences and instead those were skipped over to give more time to the plot and the fights.

I know I'm going to spoiler the movie for myself; I can't help it. X3

Yeah, giving Gokuu's selfishness and pureness a physical form would help to play to an actual story and character exploration. Although if they decide to play the card that he is immune to this spell then he'd probably wind up just fighting the main villain or getting ganged-up on by his friends' evil sides.
