Did Bulma and Vegeta eventually marry?
Did Bulma and Vegeta eventually marry?
I was reading one of the Dragon Books, which indicates that they did.
I know Trunks stated to Goku that they never got married in his era, but aside from them getting it on and having a child, it didn't appear their relationship was very considerate during that period of time. It's only after the Cell Games when Vegeta was going through his "I will never fight again" phase, that I could see them growing closer and potentially tie the knot. They certainly do act more married-couple like after those seven years, as when Bulma brings up the subject of Vegeta not getting a job. Although I don't recall her ever referring to him as a 'husband', but I do remember Vegeta using the term 'wife' at least once, when she was being proposed as an object of bargaining for the Elder Kaioshin... at least in the VIZ translation, maybe the original line isn't that explicit.
I've always held the notion in my mind that they just took those roles, but never actually, officially got married. Since I have a hard time imagining Vegeta willingly taking part in some romantic ceremony, when he's always someone who tries hard to hide his gentle side.

Re: Did Bulma and Vegeta eventually marry?
Yeah, I distinctly remember Vegeta calling Bulma his wife when talking to the old Kaioshin, but I can't recall him ever referring to her as that at any other time. I've seen the topic brought up on the forums before and that's really all anyone seems to be able to remember. I think if you wanted to see if that's exactly what he means, you'd have to ask someone who speaks Japanese to translate the panel for you.

Re: Did Bulma and Vegeta eventually marry?
I think Vegeta and Blooma either never got married or only got married after the Boo arc, when Vegeta finally admitted his love for his family. I believe that, when Vegeta called Blooma "my wife" in rage over Gokuu's proposition of letting the old Kaioushin feel her up in return for Gohan's power-up/letting them use the DBs to fix everything, it was probably just more of a case of "my wife" having more impact than "the mother of my child". Trunks did the same thing when berating Vegeta for not saving Blooma and baby Trunks, calling Blooma "his wife", when he previously mentioned that they never got married because "you know how she is".

The English Z Dragon Books make references to their being married multiple times.

Re: Did Bulma and Vegeta eventually marry?
They probably got married during the seven years following Cell. Vegeta yells at Goku on Kaioshin's planet for making a deal with Rou Dai to kiss Bulma, and he distinctly calls Bulma his wife.

I guess they got marry after Cell was defeated. It seems likely since it seem like Vegeta didn't care that much for Bluma during the Cell arc from what I can remember.

In the manga, it's entirely possible that getting married is not done with a ceremony or anything in the Dragon Ball world.

Yeah, as supported by the chapter in which Chi-Chi proposes to Gokuu and then the tournament announcer flat-out says, "Contestant Gokuu and Anonymous got married!"Kingdom Heartless wrote:In the manga, it's entirely possible that getting married is not done with a ceremony or anything in the Dragon Ball world.
But I don't think Vegeta would've gotten married with Blooma in those 7 years, since it'd seem strange for him to get married and still not admit his love for her. I mean, neither of them seemed to admit that they were in love with each other, so marriage before that wouldn't make complete sense.

Re: Did Bulma and Vegeta eventually marry?
For all we know, becoming husband and wife in Dragon Ball could simply be both parties acknowledging that they're married. I'll admit, it would make divorce a hell of a lot cheaper, and it would turn the whole controversy surrounding gay marriage thing on it's head. Toriyama's not one to leave out gays in his series, just look at Trunks's opponent in the final canon Tenkaichi Budokai.

Marriage is a sacred sacrament between a man, a woman, and Kami-sama.
I support traditional marriage, not these liberal politically correct Saiyan-Human marriages. It's sick.
What's to stop men from marrying shape-shifting animals? Or Artificial Humans? It's a slippery slope. And the King of the World (who still hasn't released his birth certificate) is a socialist trying to shove this crap down our throats.
Just the other day I saw a show where a boy turned into a giant monkey! Clearly the evolutionists at work, denying our holy Lord who came from Namek.

Completely non-Dragon Ball related, but if you're sympathizing to who I think you are, PM me and I can tell you a few FYIs about "that certain candidate" when he ran in the state I live in.

Yeah, I think I've come to the likelihood of that conclusion as well.Kingdom Heartless wrote:In the manga, it's entirely possible that getting married is not done with a ceremony or anything in the Dragon Ball world.
It's just that the anime contradicts it with the Wedding Arc, and showing Gohan & Videl's wedding photo.

As for the topic of marriage arrangements in Dragon Ball, in real life, you can get married outside a church or hilltop. Maybe Blooma and Vegeta got married in court or something.
