Goku appearance in Broly second coming

Post by shonenhikada » Sun Sep 02, 2012 3:43 pm

Was Goku physically present in Broly second coming or was he incorporeal and giving moral support to Gohan and Goten ?

I always thought it was the same when Gohan was fighting with Cell. Goku was most likely not there.

Some people think Goku was there because Broly just happened to say his name when he turned SSJ.

They also state Goku was physically there because Goten wished for goku to be there and the dragon balls dispersed after Broly was defeated.

That phrase could be directed at Goten. He's a splitting image of his father after all.

I'm pretty sure Goku was there. The wish on the dragonballs would make no sense if he wasn't. Broly saw Kakarotto. I think the reaction would be a little late if he was referring to Goten. Goten joined and he never said it. But when Kakarotto suddenly appears he can notice him just like Gohan and Goten can. Also the movies aren't canon so it anything is possible.

So why did the TC changed the topic title?

The scene basically is a rehashing of that critical moment in the Cell Games.

There's really not enough to suggest to me that Goku contributed in anything other than spirit.

Didn't Broly also confuse Goten for Kakkarot earlier in the film?

I don't believe Goten actually wishes for Goku to be there in the original line, he just asks Shenron for help.

Why, we discussed this very topic way the heck back on Episode #0077 of our podcast...! It's from before we upgrade to a decent mixer and mics, so I can't vouch for the sound quality... but it's all about the content, yo.

What's Julian degree, is it BA in English Language and English Literature ?

Wait I'm guessing it is a degree is in Japanese linguistic.

Anyways in response to that podcast I would just like to add my 2 cents on a possibility.

Could Goku have been an illusion created by Shen Long using the collective consciousness of Gohan, Goten,Broly and Trunks memories of him.

Goku was there physically as well because otherwise they wouldn't have defeated Broli. According to me anyway.

His feet made a sound when he landed. Goten and Gohan saw and heard him. Broly saw/sensed him. The Kamehameha changed when he added to it.

He was there.

But how? Whatever happened to the "No coming back to life twice" rule with Shenlong?

Explanation #1: "Movie logic, 'nuff said."
Explanation #2: Shenlong didn't technically bring Goku "back to life." He just pulled him from the afterlife for a quick visit, which I suppose could be allowed as long as Goku's willing.

I truly believe Goku was there. It wouldn't be the first time Goku did something out of the rule books, like the punch to Bojack's face. Still kind of a head scratch-er though..

I think that Gokuu was really there, since Broli clearly saw him and said "Kakarotto".

How could this happen? See Kaboom's explanation (and Gokuu briefly popped in from the afterlife to help Gohan in Movie #9 too anyway). All Goten said was "I wish Dad was here" (at least in the dub; not sure about the original). Also, Toei have shown in all the movies that their logic operates under whatever's convenient for them at the time. This is why Gohan's stronger than his Movie #8 and/or Cell Games self, when it was made apparent in the Boo arc that he didn't train in those 7 years, and that Goten apparently recognizes Gokuu and reacts happily, yet he'd never met him before and is completely blank when he meets him at the 25th TB.
