Well each Season set has 6 discs, so they could just be splitting them into three discs. Season 1 Part 1 would have as many episodes that are on Discs 1-3 of Season 1, and Part 2 would just be the rest, and so on.dbboxkaifan wrote:How many episodes does each Season X Part X have?

Has anyone Walmart restocked? It's been months and still the only Dragon Ball related material is the GT complete set (the same two that have been there for months lol)

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Maybe FUNimation is about to completely phase out the OB's and start releasing their DBOX footage in singles or part sets (one can only hope).
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out.

I'm hoping for these 2 things.superrayman3 wrote:Maybe FUNimation is about to completely phase out the OB's and start releasing their DBOX footage in singles or part sets (one can only hope).
1.) Funimation picks back up the level sets
2.) they start releasing the original Dragonball Dragon-boxes then they can release the movies and GT dragon-boxes if they like

1.) And what, they're going to use the "Steve Transfer" or the orange bricks as it is on Blu-ray? I'd pick Steve's Transfer.samuraix123 wrote:I'm hoping for these 2 things.

Personally I don't see FUNi starting up the level sets again for a while hence the reason I hope they release the DBOX footage as singles or parts.samuraix123 wrote:I'm hoping for these 2 things.

Well until 2013 we won't know for sure what FUNimation is planning for the other Dragon Ball anime's (hopefully we'll be seeing more DBOX's).samuraix123 wrote:2.) they start releasing the original Dragonball Dragon-boxes then they can release the movies and GT dragon-boxes if they like

I was just in Walmart today and I saw all of DBZ & GT in the orange/green bricks.

To hell with the Dragon Boxes. Blu-Ray is the format they should be putting things on.
Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
As much as I love the DBoxes, I do think the Blu-Rays looked better, and the fact that they weren't continued is one of the saddest occurrences in DB history.LordCrumb wrote:To hell with the Dragon Boxes. Blu-Ray is the format they should be putting things on.
Yeah, the Season Sets aren't dying anytime soon. Unless you see Amazon start running out, they're still alive.

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
Now I wouldn't go that far. I love the Dragon-boxes and I'd say a huge majority of people here do as well. but I am hoping for either Funimation to ''hopefully'' pick back up those level sets as I think they look much better than the Dragon-boxes. or Remaster the Movies like the level sets which I doubt will happen. but let's not say to Funimation ''Eh we don't want no more Dragon-boxes''LordCrumb wrote:To hell with the Dragon Boxes. Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
We're gonna have to agree to disagree. I refuse to buy a DB product from FUNi if I have to be stuck with their English title cards and credits, not to mention improper opening and ending animations on several episodes and the lack of the next episode previews.LordCrumb wrote:To hell with the Dragon Boxes. Plus, considering the fact that this series was never really intended for anything other than Japanese TV in the '80s and '90s, seeing it in HD just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
I agree in principle, but it doesn't really mean much when the existing product has and is continuing to be ported elsewhere. IF they happened to start disappearing in North America, it doesn't help that they would still exist in Australia and the UK.dprez wrote:Phasing out the Dragon Ball Z season sets is the best thing that could happen to Dragon Ball fans.
Considering FUNimation doesn't include the booklets anymore, they could simply repackage the sets into standard sized multi-disc cases like many other former bulky sets (Babylon 5, Buffy, Angel, Stargate, etc.) have been doing. The last time I paid any attention to them in the stores, they were going for about $14.99, so reducing the packaging could push the price down to roughly $9.99 especially if they went with the crappy "eco cases."Son Satan wrote:Retailers don't want to stock big box sets if they don't have to.
Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
LOL, wut? Seriously, have you seen any other Japanese releases for anime from before the 90's. You'd be surprises how beautiful the restorations look. Heidi, Girl of the Alps comes to mind, while it cost me a bundle, the restoration was second to none!jpdbzrulz4sure wrote:Plus, considering the fact that this series was never really intended for anything other than Japanese TV in the '80s and '90s, seeing it in HD just doesn't seem worth it to me.
I also fall in the "to hell with the DBoxes," quite simply a new restoration is needed to future proof these. While the DBoxes were all the razz, they were (as far as people here have stated) restored in 480p.

I care way more about the material being as complete as possible than how it looks in HD.

Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
I think the problem there is that FUNimation never got the complete reels (or with all the audio). So they had to work with what they had.jpdbzrulz4sure wrote:I care way more about the material being as complete as possible than how it looks in HD.
Dragon Boxes have been completed, so if they went back to blu ray I wouldn't mind. But when it comes to DVDs, I'd like Dragon Box season sets if they were to phase out the Orange bricks.
Re: Phasing out Dragonball Z Season sets?
Of course that's important. But we are reaching a point where certain materials needs to be preserved in the highest quality for the future. I'm not saying FUNi has to do it, since they don't have the complete masters. This all falls under Toei.jpdbzrulz4sure wrote:I care way more about the material being as complete as possible than how it looks in HD.
Maybe I read your remark wrong... You seem to fall in the same place as I do with certain videos. The always certain example I use is Star Wars. With Lucas going ape-shit everyday with what to change, the original movies are slowing being forgotten by many, all that rests are the original VHS/Laserdiscs (and the LD-2-DVD OOP Release). When I watch these movies I always go to the laserdiscs (sometimes the DVD), why? Because they are the most complete versions of the film available. Sadly, this is where I usually bring my future proof, they don't look good on modern setups. I still have a nice collection of laserdiscs and a reason why I keep an old 27' Sony Trinitron CRT. On old TVs, laserdiscs and VHS releases look pretty good. Watch them on a HDTV and you got yourself a problem!
This opens another argument with me, I do love the DBoxes. Ever since I got them I never truly complained. Audio and video problems aside, these were the closest to a "complete" release. For me these other problems seem irrelevant.

Yeah, they completed the DBZ TV series boxes, but not those of the rest of the material. DB, DBGT, the movies, etc still need DBox releases in the states.eledoremassis02 wrote:Dragon Boxes have been completed, so if they went back to blu ray I wouldn't mind.
@Krycek7o2: Eh, alright, I've got no further argument. Still though, the other DBoxes need to come.

Slim packs, man, slim packs. I don't care about the fluff, but if it means subtitles and English audio on the Dragon Boxes, get them out there on the cheap!eledoremassis02 wrote:I think the problem there is that FUNimation never got the complete reels (or with all the audio). Whatever FUNi does next with the franchise color me intrigued. I remember someone asking for plenty of dubs, with a HD release that might be possible if they license out those dubs.
