Well, that was very enjoyable. I especially loved Cooler's "he with a capital 'H'" line, among other things. The only thing that kind of bugged me was, as always, a few lines were delivered way too fast to understand without running it back a few times, mostly Oolong's line when Sauza mentions there being pork in the stew.

Also, you guys listed "There's Always Someone Cooler Than You" by Ben Folds as being owned by Toei Animation and Bird Studios in the credits. Somehow, I don't think that's accurate...
This will never not be my sig:

I can't believe this is on-topic.

Cooler was Shredder!
Then he was Bane!
Then Toriyama and Dinosaurs and balls and OMPanda that whole sequence was awesome!

Poor Ickerus. :(

Also, I had to do a doubletake on "Qu'est-ce que fuck?"
I like how you went the extra mile to make French Sauza more French. I would say it makes me hate my French degree less... but then I'd be lying.

[edit] Rewatching, I noticed Cooler's "The devil?". Why can't I convince myself that this might not be another Shredder reference?[/edit]

Cooler managed to slip a few "shits" by instead of the usual funny censor beeps.

TFS may want to doublecheck that.

Well its a movie, so maybe it was intentional.

I'd say "Tonight I dine on monkey soup" (13:18) counts as a reference.

All in all, a decent installment.

The question is whether or not those references don't just sound like abridged Krillin randomness to those that don't get them or suspect them, in which case they don't really break the immersion. Goku's grammar gets to me more, honestly.
Goku said a few lines that had a similar effect on me too. And I'm not saying that randomness is bad -- there've been some hilarious random lines from almost all of the main characters -- just that mainly in this episode, and also in a few other episodes, some lines were a bit too random. I felt that the writer was a bit too keen to put a few references into the episode for the hardcore fans but wasn't very discriminating about where he did so, and they ended up not working very well. For example, I thought that Krillin calling Dende "Little Green" when they first met was both timely and hilarious, but Krillin making a joke about Karin's alternative dub name at the mere mention of that character wasn't great.

The "Little Green" line works for hardcore fans because not only is it a reference to an obscure dub that we know quite well but it's also well placed considering the characters have just met in the actual series, are facing each other and their sizes are apparent. The line also works for casual fans because of the latter. The "Whiskers the Wonder Cat" only has the former, which is to say that it has very little relevance to what's on screen. It's not a bad joke, though -- it just could've been better. But on the whole, it was a really good episode.

I think the Bane-esc voice that was given to Coola was fitting but I kinda wish they had of gone with the original voice he had. Also I was disappointed that they never used the "because I'm a prick" line.

It wasn't as goood as the previouse specials, but it had its moments. The voice acting is top notch!

Me, too.

I just noticed, you guys accidentally said "There's always someone Cooler" by Ben Folds was owned by Toei.

Yeah, there's a few mistakes in the credits. @.@

I should note that leaving Shit uncensored was actually on purpose. It just seemed needless at this point to continue censoring a word frequently used in PG-13 movies.

Shit is still a no-no word for TV-14 stuff, IIRC. I was surprised to learn that I guess it's okay to use dick (if used in the same context as jerk) and pussy (if used in the same context as wimp) now.

I'm pretty sure Suits is TV-14 and they use 'shit', 'asshole', and 'goddamn' regularly, so I don't think it's a problem depending on the network.

EDIT: Here's a rather apt example. :P

Hey Kaiser! Do you and the rest of TFS ever plan on going back on the Kanzenshuu podcast anytime soon? I'd be great if you can bring LittleKuriboh too.

Also, I love your own podcasts you have on the site as well! Always a treat to hear!

Fair enough. It actually added to the humor, though, as the censorship IS unnecessary. That makes it funnier. It added to overall irony of how DBZ was cut down in the west.

I honestly found the manner in which Cooler was cursing (Namely that he barely got to enunciate them) much better than the cursing itself. Which is the point.
