Restarting my DBZ DVD collection (advice needed)

Post by emperor pilaf » Wed Sep 26, 2012 3:15 pm

Hello everyone, I own the Dragon Ball Z Dragon Boxes, all seven. In my opinion its been the best release of the series, but sooner or later I will have to get rid of them  . I don't plan on purchasing them again for the reason of the availability of the second box set. So I was wondering if the HD version of the series would be a good investment or just wait for funimation to release the series again?

Also I don't need all 291 episodes right now and I only care for the original Japanese version of the series. Any advice will greatly be appreciated. :)

HD version? Do you mean the orange bricks? If so...I would see if you can rent a disc or even hulu (mind you the quality is a bit better on the DVD than it is on Hulu. If you like what you see, then I don't see a problem buying them :) I have orange brick 1 and 2 to fill in where ocean dubbed (fill the gap between the blu ray and the d-boxes). I don't mind them too much so they work for me :D

However, you might want to wait and see if (or when) they continue the blu ray.

I hope this helps!

Oh I'm sorry by HD I wanted to say Blu Ray. So has funimation stopped production on the blu ray?

Well, FUNimation said they are working on more efficient means of remastering them. It's been debated if they are canceled or not. However, if you can (or haven't) get the levels 1.1 and 1.2 if you want. They look really awesome and the newer releases might not look as awesome.

I think you're off your rocker since there isn't a guaranteed replacement if you wanted to buy them back at a later date. And the way FUNI runs things.. if they announce more Blurays, that isn't a guarantee they would finish the series. They've stopped mid production more than once.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
DB DBox color corrections & DBox color corrections.

Good point :( I just hope they get up to 2.2 because then they would run flush with the singles.

Thanks for all the help eledoremassis02, I think I'll just wait and see what funimation announces next.

No problem. Glad I can help :). That's a pretty good idea, especially if you plan on holding onto the Dragon Boxes for a while.

HD + Digital you can buy the episodes of DBZ in 1080p HD from Xbox LIVE (US Marketplace) or PlayStation Store (US Marketplace).

http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/TVSho ... 0010ab1c97

Each only costs 160 MSP on Xbox LIVE, but they just feature the English FUNimation dub, though, if you transfer them to the PC, you can add the Japanese audio manually.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
