What's next for Nicktoons?

Post by theawesomepossum777 » Sun Sep 30, 2012 7:25 pm

They're nearing the end of GT with them at the beginning of the Shadow Dragon Arc now. What do you think they should go for next after GT? Should they show the edited Cartoon Network version of Dragon Ball or the edited Cartoon Network version of the Boo Arc of Z? I'm all for the edited Dragon Ball since it stops being really perverted beginning with the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai. It shouldn't be too much of a problem for them starting at episode 14 of Dragon Ball. What do you guys think?

They should show the original Dragon Ball.

But now I'm thinking- if Nicktoons, no, if any kids station were to air the original Z, they would surely show an edited version. Would they use the original dub, as in the edited 276 episode version used on Cartoon Network? Wouldn't it be weird for the Ocean voices to return?

Couldnt they show the "Ultimate Uncut versions" that were shown on Cartoon Network?

Ocean dubbed Kai, of course.

If Kai was getting dubbed by ocean, then I 100% agree. :D
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Cartoon Network continued to play the Ocean episodes until the end of Toonami, long after all the UUE episodes aired. The redub didn't have an edited version either, or at least not one that was edited enough to play alongside the rest of the edited dub.

Would they even show those episodes, or would they just do the Boo arc?

I think playing the original DB anime could work. I doubt they will play the Buu saga since there is no point of playing it really. If they want to know what happen after the Cell saga then they can easily look it up. I always get sick of people asking for the Buu saga so badly when it's not hard to look it up on Google or Youtube. It's 2012 guys, not 1996.

So why show the original DB? They can just look up what happens.

I guess Nicktoons then could make more money off of viewing from their channel since fans like to watch the DB again for the first time since 2005. With the Buu saga, it's so short while the original DB anime is much longer.

If anything, they'll probably show the Toonami edit of Dragon Ball, advertising it as sort of an "Origins" series.

Later, maybe they'll show the Toonami edit of the Boo saga as a sort of "Lost Episodes", like Toonami did with the first 16 episodes of GT.

How about something new, like One Piece. As much as I like Dragon Ball, I think it's time to let another anime series have a chance on Nicktoons, rather than air stuff that's been aired to death already.

US already has its dub = FUNimation, and Canada + English speaking countries = Ocean Dub.

This is like a rumour that never sees the light of day.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

I am not sure why Ocean dubbed Kai would be aired on Nicktoons, considering this mysterious "Ocean-Dubbed Kai" would be most likely be licensed by a company other than FUNImation, who owns the dubbing rights to DBZKai in some english speaking countries, mainly United States. (Like dbkaiboxfan said above.)

Part of me wants to see the Buu Saga on TV again, but I am in agreement that it is not paramount. It would offer m0re depth between Kai and GT, but with there only being the older dub, it would be very confusing for new audiences.

Why do you guys watch Dragon Ball on Nicktoons? What's the point if it's censored and in English??? I hope they sell Dragon Ball back to Cartoon Network, so they can play Kai uncut on Toonami.

I would like to see something new as well. The reason I feel like playing the original DB is more likely then the Buu saga since I feel like it's more likely due to marketing reason. I can see them marketing it as "The origins of Goku" in the TV adds. I guess after the original DB is done then they have nothing else to be played. Everything has a nice run until it ends. It would be cool if Nicktoons had Naruto, Bleach and One Piece then they finally have the holy shonen trinity :) !

I think we just watch it because it's on TV. It's there. I don't think anyone would buy edited versions of DBZK on DVD.
