Well, it's not as if any other DB/Z/GT DVD gave us anything better than this (except when FUNimation made their own extras which were uh... yeah, enough about that).spikemcruffy wrote: Wow! "Character Profiles, Interactive Menu, Great new Trailers, and more.."
Hitler character being called The Dictator is fine, as it avoids any kind of legal fubars and well, he isn't called Hitler anyway

I have absolutely no clue why the hell "Fat" Janemba was given such a low pitch, he sounds absolutely nothing like the Japanese VA. I remember watching the movie 12 sample on the Goku Jr. special DVD, my mouth was dropped and in a bad way, this has to be almost as bad as Frieza's. I mean, they didn't have to direct Kent Williams for the first form. On the contrary, they could have gotten Josh Martin, his Mr. Buu tone would have been A+ perfect. Well, the dubbing of this movie has been done for well over a year, it's too late to change voices now. But damn, when I go to theaters to see this, I won't be able to help but roll my eyes countless times, among hearing myself uttering "Dear Lord...".

Re: Janemba Janempa?
Nah, it was just 'Janemba'. The fat version's Janemba and the muscular one's Super Janemba.spikemcruffy wrote:Is it just me or was the bigger version of Janemba ever called Janempa?
Though I think 'Janempa' is used instead in French if I recall correctly, rather than Janemba.
Heh, they might as well call him 'The Nazi'.spikemcruffy wrote:Also the guy (who I thought resembled Hitler) has now been given a name of "The Dictator."
There aren't any legal issues with it, just that this avoids mostly political 'fubars'.Blitzen wrote:Hitler character being called The Dictator ... avoids any kind of legal fubars
It would a lot, after all fat Janemba's a Boo-like creature anyway (and probably the character idea itself was based on Boo).Conan the SSJ wrote:Josh Martin, his Mr. Buu tone would have been ... perfect

"The Dictator" is named in the original Japanese credits... uhh... "Dictator" (Dokusaisha). Per Julian's random notes I have lying around, "(note that the "Doku" kanji can be used as shorthand for "Germany"...). Yes, he's supposed to be Hilter. But he ain't named Hitler.
With the exception of the "Janenpa" thing, I'm shocked at the extent to which they're keeping some names and such ("Veku", for example).

So is it supposed to be a plausible pun? I never got to see the credits myself. Although Doku could be German or shorthand for Dokukoku as in Germany using kanji, I was under the impression that normally the katakana of Doitsu using the sound of Deutsch(land) is usually preferred.

While I know that the muscular version of Janemba is referred to as Super Janemba in quite a lot of reviews in English, it's probably not canon. If that's the case, the 'Super' is added apparently to distinguish the two Janemba forms.Demi wrote:Since when?MultilangDBZ wrote:the muscular one's Super Janemba.
However, there isn't a fixed name for the muscular version of Janemba in the original Japanese either I don't think. On review sites, I've seen it being either non-distinguished (just Jyanenba) or referred to as Jyanenba seichou tai, i.e. Janemba Grown Form (a bit like Cell's Perfect Form), though that's probably non-canon as well.

According to Super Buu in the dub, there's German chocolate cake.Chaos Saiyajin wrote:Tanooki Kuribo wrote:He is "The Dictator" because there is no "Hitler" in the Dragonworld. Thats my excuse anyways.Yeah, unless WWII took place in 129-145 or something...
Besides, there's no Germany in Dragon World Earth anyway...

Why not tell that to Toei for their re-release of the Dragonbox DVDs? They say the exact thing for those as stated on the Podcast >>Sun_Wukong wrote:When is FUNI going to learn that Interactive Menus arent bonus features?
EDIT: Just checked out the site. The only other time I saw this movie was in a crappy-quality VCD that was playing both the Chinese AND Japanese track over each other at the same time...yeah. So I'll be picking this up as usual. It looks liken from here on out they'll be showing the movies in an uncut only format instead of two different versions. Saves people some trouble I s'pose. As for the Janempa thing, technically that's a correct translation between 'b' 'p' and 'h' symbols, and it seems like it was just done for the sake of mixing it up a little bit, which is fine by me.

I watched the samples and I was shocked by the quality of the print. I have seen like 3 different versions of this movie resolution wise and this one blows those out of the water. I wonder how the Japanese DVD release will look compared to this version; let’s just hope they don’t squash the movie's aspect ratio again.
